  • "Well situated for central Felixstowe."

Very comfy beds. Found the kitchen extremely dark and needed lights on at all times of the day. Welcoming hosts.

Thank you for your review, we appreciate a little more information on each section, so we could hopefully correct any problems, for future guests. We understand that the kitchen is dark, as it's in the middle of the cottage, but we have had extra lights installed, to hopefully compensate this. Please could you kindly, let us know why you felt the cottage, fell below in cleanliness, facilities, comfort and accuracy of listing, as we take these very seriously and need to address anything, that might compromise our outstanding 10/10 score we have had for over the last 6 months. kind regards Jill and Nigel Property Owner

Thank you for your review, we appreciate anyone that takes the time out, in giving us feedback, for their stay with us. Please could give us a little further information, why you felt you were not comfortable in the cottage, as this is very important to us and all our future guests, so we can put any problems right. kind regards Jill and Nigel Property Owner

Perfectly positioned to enjoy a lovely part of Felixstowe. Saxon Lodge is gorgeous and beautifully decorated. I’ve taken a few ideas to try at home! The lodge was spotlessly clean and all the little touches made it feel like our home for the too short a time we stayed. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise and the kitchen had everything we needed. The beds were incredibly comfortable, we slept like babies. Jill and Nigel were perfect hosts. Thank you. We will be back and have already recommended you to friends and family!

  • "We asked Sykes to ask the owner to join the second bedroom beds together."

The owner did not receive that request and could not help as the housekeeper had the relevant key. The owner was helpful but not at all intrusive. Some things were not available so we had to buy a bread knife. The property would benefit from a dishwasher. There was a good standard of cleanliness but the white mugs had some residual grime which soaking could not remove so we bought a couple of mugs. Plenty of facilities nearby, both food shopping and restaurants, and the guide in the house was useful as were the owner’s suggestions.

Good morning John, Thank you for your review and would like to answer your grievances and hopefully can make sure that we can move forward with a more positive review in the future. As we are all aware that any negative review bares a significant impact on future bookings and we do pride ourselves with past excellent reviews. Firstly your comment about asking Sykes for 2 king-size beds to be made up, we have spoken to Sykes and they said they did not get asked in the booking process for this to happen, so we were not able to help with this on your arrival. Secondly there was a bread knife, in the drawers right-hand side of sink unit. Thirdly no excuse for white mugs to have a slight tea stain, this has now been addressed and should not happen in the future Although it has been a while since you stayed, we have only recently had the opportunity through Sykes to respond to any reviews. Kind regards Jill and Nigel Property Owner

  • "How unutterably blissful is it to stay in a holiday rental which actually feels like a cohesive home rather than a chaotic and eclectic mishmash of the owners castoffs."

Jill and Nigel are the perfect hosts, always ready with a friendly greeting or helpful restaurant recommendations. Nothing is too much trouble, and guests are treated like cherished family friends. The added extras of buckets and spades, kites, and little toys for our 5 year old was very much appreciated. The whole house is a delight, with the beds and shower (often woefully under par in so many rentals) deserving a mention in their own right for being equal to or indeed above the quality at home! Towels are fluffy and plentiful in their abundance, and bedding gloriously classic; crisp and white. Overall this was the best holiday we have had in years, and Saxon Lodge Cottage by far the most welcoming we have stayed in.

Step atop the stylish distressed wood flooring and retire to the sitting area after your feast; watch a film on the Smart TV which is set against pretty feature wallpaper, with the last of the evening light coming through the dual-aspect windows.

Up on the first floor, the spacious bathroom with a double basin continues the sea blue theme, and holds a fantastic shower enclosure for you to freshen up in.

Explore your surroundings on foot and head down to Felixstowe Beach to enjoy four-miles of sand and shingle beach, take a paddle in the waters or grab some fish and chips or an ice cream from one of the several beachfront businesses.

Walk down to Landguard Fort, an 18th century military structure where the first Royal Marines' land battle took place, those who love history can marvel at this large building.

Browse the many shops centered in Felixstowe with some high-street favourites as well as independent local shops too, or head into the busy town of Ipswich for a host of attractions, including Ipswich Town Football Club or Christchurch Mansion and Christchurch Park, a huge Tudor mansion with a major art collection.
