  • "Just returned from a fantastic week away at this Rumsby Cottage - one of the best we have stayed in when booking via Sykes."

    The property is furnished, fitted and decorated out to a high standard - impecably clean and highly maintained. The gardens was secure for our dog and so well tended, despite the heatwave with flowers flourishing, well kept lawn area with couple of sitting areas which was perfect to spend mornings eating breakfast and relaxing in the evening. The kitchen was so well equiped - it was hard to think of what else would be needed or missing. Use of a coffee machine and wine and cake and milk etc was so appreciated on arrival. Location wise it is great, 5-10 mins drive from the coast and supermarkets, but rural feel at the cottage itself, but close enough to access the A12 road meaning it was a breeze to travel to Southwold and Aldeburgh (well worth visiting). The owners are next door, but left us to ourselves but reassuring to be close enough to answer queries etc if needed. Thanks for a lovely stay, would fully recommend staying here for a break in Suffolk ! 12 of 10!

  • "Fabulous cottage ideally situated to visit the main tourist areas of Suffolk."

    Penni and Phil are great hosts and have provided a wonderful place to stay. The garden is absolutely secure for dogs and is spacious. We were lucky to get great weather all week and sat out every night until late. The kitchen is very well appointed and the welcome pack was very much appreciated. Morrisons with cheap fuel is a 10 min drive and Livingstones who serve really tasty Indian food and lovely cocktails was a 5 min drive. A mobile strawberry seller is positioned at the end of the lane towards Kessingland. Kessingland is great for an early morning or evening walk, park at the beach carpark as you enter the village as it gets very congested and narrow near the beach. We visited Henstead, Beccles, Southwold, Dunwich, Orford, Helmingham, Framlingham,Walberswick, Thorpeness, Aldeburgh and Sutton Hoo during our week. Highly recommend.

  • "Stayed at Rumsby Cottage during the heatwave of June 2026."

    We (and our dog) were made to feel very welcome by the owners who live next door. The cottage contained everything we needed - including fans to keep us nice and cool. The whole place was spotless. The well maintained garden was perfect for dining al fresco and was also fully secure for the dog. There is a choice of supermarkets close by as well as great dog walking beaches within easy reach. Overall, we can fully recommend Rumsby Cottage as a comfortable and convenient base from which to explore the Suffolk coastline and surrounding attractions.

    The owners provided some lovely touches that made us feel welcomed especially after a long journey to get there. The garden is brilliant for dogs. It's close to beaches and nature walks. Perfect holiday in a lovely location.

  • "What a wonderful cottage, very clean and comfortable and has absolutely everything that you need."

    If you have dogs the garden is secure and large. There are a number of seating areas so you can enjoy the sun from early morning to the evening. Well situated for local walks on dog friendly beaches and Southwold. Easy drive further afield to Dunwich Heath and Sutton Hoo. I loved my relaxing stay here

  • "Had a wonderful 5 days at this property."

    Met with beautiful homemade chocolate brownies and a bottle of wine & snacks. Milk left in the fridge. Everything that you need is there including all the usual things you may forget such as salt and pepper, washing up liquid, extra toilet rolls etc. Enough logs left for setting up a fire on the first couple of nights. Hosts were next door and helped us with setting up the TV. They even went out immediately to get egg cups for us when we said we liked boiled eggs. Our dog was catered for with dog bowls and even poo bags left in the hallway. Lovely large enclosed garden for him to run around. The cottage was immaculately clean and warm. Pretty central to all main places to visit in Suffolk/Norfolk. Would highly recommend to others.

  • "Really enjoyed our stay here."

    The cottage was really lovely with everything you needed for a holiday. We cook a lot and the kitchen had all the equipment you needed, as well as the coffee machine which was a bonus! A lovely secure garden, we have an escapologist of a dog who had no chance of escaping so it was great to be able to relax in comfort. It's a short drive to some lovely places, Dunwich Forest was stunning and we visited Lowestoft, Aldborough, Kessingland, Southwold and Pakefield. It's well worth the visit to Covehithe beach, such a stunning place, very quiet and lots of wildlife with the nature reserve parallel to the beach. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you for the goodie basket and brownies!

  • "We had an amazing stay at this wonderful cottage."

    It has everything you need for the perfect getaway including the garden which is ideal for relaxing in, two seating areas, sun all day and plenty of room for doggies to run around in and also it’s fully enclosed. It’s in an ideal location for visiting Suffolk and Norfolk, with beautiful countryside and beaches close by, including Kessingland Beach which is dog friendly all year round. Super hosts, would highly recommend this property.

  • "Had a great stay at 1 Rumsby Cottage."

    The cottage was spotless and had everything you could possibly need. The garden is a great size and was fully secure for the dogs to run around to their hearts content. The beach is only a short 5 minute drive away. The owners were extremely helpful. Even messaging on a particularly hot evening to see if we needed a couple of extra fans. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back.

The quiet Suffolk coastal village of Kessingland is nestled between Southwold and Lowestoft, on the 'Sunrise Coast' a region of Suffolk enjoying 27 miles of award-winning beaches and part of the Suffolk Heritage Coastline, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offering unspoilt beaches, beautiful heath lands and a wealth of nature reserves, including NT Dunwich Heath and RSPB Minsmere, along with pretty southern Broadland market towns. Kessingland enjoys good beach fishing and local amenities include pubs, restaurants, shops, a tea room, children's park and the award-winning attraction Africa Alive. Nearby Lowestoft has two piers, an active harbour with a marina and berthing for larger ships, a golden sandy beach with attractions which include scuba diving, snorkelling, kite surfing and jet skiing, and a cinema and a theatre.
