  • "The Annexe is so beautifully decorated and welcoming!"

The facilities were amazing and the cleanliness was 10/10! The garden was beautiful too and all enclosed and safe for our dog! We were blessed with lovely weather for October but we still couldn't help light the log burner in the evening! We decided to take our own food to cook and there was everything we could possibly need in the kitchen! Plus a lovely welcome pack too! The area has some beautiful walks along river and the view across to Harwich and felixstowe was so interesting to watch, especially while having a drink at the Bristol arms pub! We didn't eat there but had a drink each day after our walk! The landlord was friendly! Chris and Lorna the hosts of the annexe were lovely too! Chris gave us a warm welcome and a run down of what we needed to know and Lorna popped out before we left to check we had, had a lovely stay! We will definitely be back again in the future! A gorgeous little find!!

We are really chuffed you enjoyed your stay and we really appreciate that you took the time to tell the world with your lovely review. We can totally get how you enjoyed watching the comings and goings of the harbour/estuary from the Bristol Arms; watching the sunset over the water of the River Stour with a pint in hand is a favourite of ours! Thank you for your kind words on how much you enjoyed your stay. We are glad you enjoyed the comfy bed; making sure our guests got a good night’s sleep was a top priority which is why we invested in the mattress and bedding and in particular the ‘cloud’ mattress topper. • "This cottage is a treasure!"

Great for walks in the country and along waterways. The accommodation is excellent and the owners provided everything and more than most. Great secure outside garden for our dog and for us to enjoy a later summer relax. Easy walk if a couple of pubs and short drive to many more. We absolutely loved it.

Hi Donna, thank you so much for your kind words. We now have big grins on our face after reading your review. You said you liked the Butt and Oyster pub whilst you were here; it will come as no surprise to you that it has just been listed by the iPaper as one of the top 20 waterside pubs in the country. Apparently you have good taste when it comes to picking a local! Property Owner

  • "Absolutely loved the annexe, it was perfect, so thoughtfully designed, and tastefully furnished."

Very cosy, would be lovely in winter with the woodburner alight. All the little extras were great. Garden was lovely and big and very safe for our dog Dude, and plenty of garden furniture. Would defiantly visit again, thank you Lorna, loved the annexe and Shotley Gate l

We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay and that the enclosed garden meant that Dude could sniff and snuffle to his heart’s content, without you having to worry. Hopefully we’ll see you again one winter so you can enjoy a glass of something nice in front of the log-burner. P.S. Tell Dude that Ellie dog says hello ;-) Property Owner

  • "A really comfortable and well thought out property."

The photos don't do it justice! Excellent welcome pack (enough to keep us going for a couple of days so we didn't need to shop immediately). Great property manual full of recommendations for things to do in the area. Plenty of dog friendly things to do without driving, sea about 400 yards and some good circular dog walks. Garden lovely, dog enjoyed it enormously. 6 stars out of 5! Highly recommended

We just want to say thank you for your lovely review, it warms the cockles to hear you had a great stay. When putting together The Annexe we wanted to create the sort of place that we would want to stay in ourselves with the little touches that we, and our dog Ellie, would appreciate. Sounds like those little touches did the trick! Property Owner

  • "Thank you Lorna for the use of the Annexe this past week."

You seem to have thought of everything down to the bottle of wine from the Shotley Vineyard! I can report that the WiFi that was upgraded during our stay was over 600 Mbps. All the extras that you have put in were very much appreciated - we would have needed a fortnight to test them all! Would be happy to recommend the annexe to any couples visiting the Shotley Peninsula.

Thank you for your kind words about your stay, we truly appreciate them. We believe that fast internet is an essential nowadays so it is great to hear that the upgrade is delivering on that front. If you ever fancy coming back to Suffolk and exploring more, you know where we are! Property Owner

  • "What an amazing stay!"

The Annexe @ Shotley Cottage is a lovely space which was relaxing as soon as my wife and I walked through the door. The lounge area, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom are all spotlessly clean and airy, and there was plenty of space for us. The bed was super comfy and roomy with beautifully pressed white linen. We loved the bathrobes, slippers and fluffy white bath sheets which all added to the luxurious finish. The outside space was amazing, the garden lights, fire pit and cushioned outside seating areas made eating outdoors a real treat. We would highly recommend a stay at The Annexe and will definitely be back. Thank you for a fabulous, ten out of ten stay!

We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at The Annexe @ Shotley Cottage; it means the world to us to get such positive feedback. We do look forward to seeing you again soon! Property Owner
