  • "Fantastic location to explore Suffolk in a peaceful setting."

A spacious, characterful house with plenty of room for 4 adults and a dog. The house was comfortable, well equipped and spotlessly clean with ample parking and outdoor space. We had a lovely week exploring - plenty of excellent coastal and countryside walks within easy reach. Would definitely return again! Thanks for such a lovely break in your cosy home.

  • "We had a lovely week in a superbly renovated cottage."

The bedrooms and the spacious bathrooms, with walk in showers and a bath on one of them, were excellent. The facilities for us were very good and the location spot on, in a quiet valley. The lack of downstairs toilet and the awkward stairs didn't bother us, but it might not suit everyone. In terms of kitchen equipment there was a curious absence of pans, but an abundance of other things, most of which were over sized, but this was a minor criticism. All in all one of the best cottages we have stayed in. The owners were lovely and very helpful.

Thank you for your feedback and we are glad that you enjoyed the cottage. We do encourage guests to let us know any concerns as we live on site. We enjoyed some pleasant conversations with you during your holiday and had the pan situation been mentioned to us during your stay we could have shown that there are in fact numerous pans of varying sizes, maybe slightly tucked away in a corner cupboard. Regarding the stairs we do mention this on the listing as they are in keeping with the cottage style of the property and we also include a full written description and floor plan in order to enable guests to make an informed decision prior to booking. Location is perfect, it’s very rural with lots of walks on the doorstep and many of the key places to visit are within 30-40 mins drive. We will definitely be visiting again.

  • "Everything was great but we have two suggestions that may benefit future guests."

We could have done with some instructions as to how to use the fire properly. It roared away which was lovely and warming, but there appeared to be no way to regulate it and the wood burned through very quickly. Also, we did not know how to riddle the grate to get rid of the ash. Upstairs both my wife and I felt very unsafe in the shower due to an extremely slippery floor, a shower mat would have been very welcome and would have enabled us to enjoy the shower better.

Dear Mr Bushby We were sorry to read about the problems you experienced during your recent stay at Woodland Cottage. Regarding the log burner we perhaps should provide detailed instructions on it’s use but have found that guests tend not to read a lot of the information and notes provided. Infact some guests find too much information annoying, so it is a balancing act to get this right. We apologies that in your case we got it wrong. Regarding a safety mat for the shower we would gladly have provided one. Some people don't like such things but we shall in the future place one in the vanity unit drawer anyway. On both these issues I wish you had contacted us - especially as we live just next door and are more than happy to engage with guests and rectify any issues or concerns. We would gladly have run through the log burner’s controls with you and provide an anti slip shower mat. We hope these things didn’t impact your stay with us too much and that we might welcome you again in the future with some extra brownies and wine! We would like to wish you and the rest of your party a very happy Christmas and new year. Kindest regards Nick & Emma Property Owner

  • "A very comfortable cottage for two couples with nearby footpath and woodland walks and interesting villages to visit, with the coast not too far."

Visited in summer so no need for central heating or wood burner but the cottage appeared well-insulated. The main rooms downstairs are spacious and the two bathrooms/shower rooms upstairs were excellent as were the beds and bedding. Welcome pack from hosts was, err, welcome! Minor gripes (really minor): the dining table could have been a bit bigger (or extendable), some crockery was chipped and more food-prep knives would have been nice. One of our party bemoaned the absence of a writing/computer table which could have been accommodated nicely in the upstairs sitting vestibule. The stairs are indeed steep but this was well-signposted in the advertising. That said, we'll be happy to return. Thank you Nick and Emma.

Thank you for your lovely review, I just wanted to let you know that the dining table does extend, we would have been able to show you if you had mentioned whilst here., which is such a shame. We have replaced the chipped crockery and will buy some more knives many thanks Emma Property Owner

It was an extremely comfortable base for our stay in what was a very cold December week. The owners, Emma and Nick, were close by and went out of their way to see that we had everything we needed. They also provided some lovely welcome gifts, including eggs from their own hens. We enjoyed the quiet rural location of the property but appreciated the easy access to the A12 which gave access to many places of interest. We would definitely recommend this property to others.
