  • "A very character full property."

Not suitable for everyone as the stairs are very steep with a turn at the top but we had no problems. Clean and comfortable- as long as you mind your head on the low beams. The shower was difficult to maintain at a constant temperature. The gardener visited and did a thorough tidy up and we enjoyed sitting on the high patio with lovely views. The village is lovely and there is lots of information on walks and activities in the local area in the cottage.

  • "A thoroughly enjoyable and welcoming place to stay and in a fantastic location."

The property was as described and offered many features and comforts; the little cosy lounge was exceptionally lovely to chill-out in after exploring the Suffolk countryside. The reception pack of wine and fresh bread etc was a lovely thought and most welcome. The only minor issue we had was with the ramp to the gravel driveway. As soon as the front wheels got on to the gravel, there was insufficient support and the car bottomed out scraping the ridge. Either the ramp is slightly too steep or the first foot or so of the gravel drive needs to be reinforced. However, this was easily overcome as there was sufficient room to park outside the lovely entrance gate to the property on the roadside. No doubt though, I would highly recommend this charming property to others for an ideal location to base your travels around mid & south Suffolk.

  • "The cottage is quirky as you would expect and in a nice position in the village but the second bedroom did not match the rest of the house for comfort ( double bed, very low and a couple of lamps, fitted closet) the foot of the bed higher than the head and the floor sloping the other way made for an uncomfortable experience in more ways than one, a sailor onboard ship would be at home probably."

The toilet upstairs can only be used at intervals owing to the drip system in the cistern. It is a lovely cottage in a pleasant village but a little more thought in the maintenance would be appreciated like cleaning of windows and constant wet on the cistern and floor in the shower room from condensation ( didn’t use the shower) and checking outdoor lights work, don’t get me started on garden re-wilding (Lazy gardening) I see it has been mentioned in other reviews !!

  • "Really beautiful little cottage."

Has a real homey feel with lots of little touches! Everything you could need is provided. Garden was ever so slightly over run but gave it a bit of a secret garden feel so wasn’t a massive issue. Great little manual when you arrive and welcome gift. Only issue was it states if there are no guests coming you can request a late checkout but I contacted the number several times being promised a call back and never got one as they couldn’t reach the housekeeper. Also better instructions on how to find the cottage would be good. We arrived late at night in the dark and the postcode doesn’t take you to the actual property. Luckily we saw a man walking his cat who helped us find it! :) Overall beautiful stay and was very sad to come home!

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Rhubarb Cottage."

It's in a lovely peaceful location and the cottage is very quirky. There were a couple of little points that would have made our stay better. The water pressure on both showers was not great. The garden was full of wildlife and a good size, however, it needed a lot more maintenance and wasn't as shown on the website. We struggled to locate the BBQ and when we did it we were put off using it as it was quite dirty with mold inside. Maybe a note to suggest people clean it for the next guests would help.

  • "There should be an oven glove provided."

The drive entrance off the road onto gravel isn’t ideal….our underside of the car grounded. Otherwise a very enjoyable stay and one to recommend.

  • "The cottage was very nice but we were very disappointed with the state of the garden expectation was that we would be sitting in a beautiful garden but we pulled up on the drive and came face to face with bags of rubbish, not a good first impression, then we walked round the house and saw the garden had not been touched for months this put a downer on our holiday."

If the Garde had been as shown in the photo we would have been so pleased

  • "The cottage was much as listed with the exception that the garden was not as pictured in the advert."

It was overgrown with weeds and not comfortable to sit in, large shoulder high thistles in the drive way made it difficult to exit the car. Hippo bags of rubbish and weeds were piled around one side of the house. In side the house it was dusty and there were a few items that require attention. Such as: The latch on the upstairs bathroom door was missing a screw. There were missing pads on the underside of the toilet seat in the same bathroom. The pull light switch in the downstairs toilet did not always work. Two blinds were not in place in the living room. The vaccum cleaner had no instructions and was not charged up. Only one smoke alarm was noted in the bathroom, none seen in the rest of the house. No escape route from the upper level in the event of a fire. No extractor fan in the downstairs bathroom.

  • "Lovely cottage."

The garden was great for wildlife (including solitary bees) and full of flowers - the Sheep's Sorrel combined with the red of the cottage was stunning. It was a wrench to leave each day because so much was happening in the garden! One of the best holiday cottages we have rented.

  • "Delightful cottage with plenty of space both inside and outside."

Quiet. Well-equipped in the kitchen and good lighting for reading. A few trip hazards, but inevitable in an older property. Ensuite to bedroom one.

  • "Beautiful old cottage well preserved and presented."

BUT… radiators were not adjustable, they were locked. TV very difficult to operate and cut out after two hours. No local tv news. Window blinds in lounge broken and need replacing. Door into bathroom needs latch repaired and swings back too hard. Bath edge was at least 3’high and wash hand basins were 4’high. Totally impractical for short people or children. Shower downstairs was poor and extremely cramped. No electric sockets near mirrors for hair dryers. Dishwasher and fridge had no visible mains switch. Dishwasher stayed on for 24hours. No freezer section in fridge. No washing line. No teapot. AND the lovely huge garden was neglected and overgrown. Long wet grass, dead flowers in pots, weeds etc. Steps up to garden furniture had no hand rails and, considering the height, seemed rather dangerous.
