  • "We had a lovely week in Southwold, and the welcome card & £20 Adams gift card was a very nice gesture from the owners."

    17. South Green, cottage, is in an ideal location with ample parking. However I would question your rating of "Outstanding" 4.8 *. The door mat, on entering the cottage was disgusting, flithy dirty, we walked into the lounge to find the curtain track above the front door, had fallen off, which surely the cleaner must have known about. The pull cord switch in the downstairs bathroom, the cord is very dirty. The towel rail in the downstairs bathroom needed a good clean. The bed in the main bedroom is not particularly comfortable, as the floor slopes for right to left, the bed needs levelling up. There is no mention that the stairs are steep and the landing is very narrow, with a step down and step up to get to the upstairs toilet which is very small. This cottage would not be good for elderly people. Finally the downstairs could do with re decorating it looks tired, paint chipped of in many places. So do not understand at all your rating. Its good and could be very good, with a bit more attention to detail.

We are sorry to hear that 17 South Green was not up to your expectations. Our cleaning team have looked after our cottage for a long time, and comments are usually very favourable. We apologise for the condition of the doormat, it has been a long and wet winter and the cottage has had a lot of use. A replacement doormat and pull cord have been arranged following your comment, thank you for pointing this out. We spoke to the cleaners about the curtain rail, and there was not an obvious issue with it when they were in the cottage. We do point out in the description that it is an old property with a narrow staircase and no handrail, which may be a problem for some people. We do have an ongoing redecoration programme, in fact decorators will be at the property later this month, because the cottage has a high frequency of bookings it is prone to wear and tear damage which it is not possible to address before every guest visit. • "What a lovely cosy, toasty warm, characterful little cottage to spend Christmas in."

Great tucked away, but very central location. Thank you for decorating it so beautifully and providing a real tree. Clearly a treasured home, unlike some stark rentals. It was extremely well equipped with everything you'd need. Our grandson loved his litle bedroom down the narrow corridor with the window looking down into the kitchen through the skylight and the 'hidden' shower room in the 'kitchen cupboard'! Thank you for sharing your family treasure.

Thank you for your kind comments. We do try to make it a "home from home" albeit a quite small one! It is obviously not ideal for everyone, but we hope the description on the website gives an accurate overview for people who will appreciate the slightly quirky nature, as well as the homely feel, of the cottage. We look forward to welcoming you again in the future. John Bilson. Property Owner

  • "Lovely well equipped cottage in a great location."

We really enjoyed or stay with trips to the British Superbikes, Framlingham castle, Beccles, Walberswick walk and ferry, Woodbridge mill, Ellough Park karting and the putting and crazy golf by the pier. This is definitely NOT a criticism just a suggestion for improvement would be to install a small handle on the wall at the bottom of the staircase. I have some mobility problems and this would have greatly assisted me when using the stairs.

We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay at the cottage, we try to keep it very family friendly. We will look at your suggestion to see if we can incorporate some form of handle or handrail without restricting the stair width. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cosy cottage with everything we needed in a great location near the beach and town facilities."

Very well presented, had recently had new curtains and a lick of paint. Well equipped kitchen, lots of crockery, and a cupboard of beach gear - windbreak, buckets and spades etc.

  • "Good situation and convenient for the town centre and beeches."

Nice and comfy. The upstairs wet-room wasn't used by us. Basically, it is too small and thus inconvenient to use.
