  • "A good base for exploring Suffolk & nearby is Halesworth - a pretty market town with a variety of independent shops & eateries plus a pleasant riverside walk."

The ‘cottage’ adjoins the owners’ house and Jacqui came round to welcome us on the first day with homemade jam. A welcome pack was provided. The property is a listed building and it has been sympathetically restored whilst including modern comforts. There’s an area outside the cottage designated for the use of guests during their stay, part of much larger communal gardens, but it isn’t obvious from the property description that it is not entirely enclosed and close to a very busy A road. Also the communal gardens have ponds & hidden ditches (part of a moat). The owners’ dog and dogs staying at the other holiday cottages share the gardens. We were disappointed that we couldn’t enjoy sitting out in ‘our’ garden with our dogs off their leads. If you have children they would also need to be supervised. If we didn’t have the dogs with us we would have had a more enjoyable stay.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Rookyards."

The cottage was great for the four of us and the beds very comfortable! Jacqui and Nick made us feel very welcome and the homemade jam and brownies on arrival were delicious. Everything was clean and to a high standard, it was lovely to have the garden all around us to enjoy. We found Rookyards to be well located for exploring the area, a few minutes drive to the nice town of Halesworth and just over 15 minutes to the coast. Thank you!

  • "Rookyards was a beautiful well laid out cottage."

It had everything one needed with some special touches, very well thought out. The beds & pillows were so comfortable. The outside gardens were wonderful for our two dogs especially our younger dog who loves to chase her ball she had lots od space for running around. Our hosts were very welcoming & went out of their way to make sure we had all we needed. It is well placed for short drives to many lovely villages & the seaside along with some lovely country pub with delicious food.

  • "We had a fantastic stay."

Really nice and friendly and great welcome package. Only remark is perhaps you’d need a coffee pot to make use of the coffee ? We had our moka pot with us but otherwise we didn’t find one in the cupboard. Also love that Jam.

The owners, who live adjacent, are most helpful and really nice people who go the extra mile to make your stay enjoyable. This is a perfect base from which to explore east Suffolk and south Norfolk. Nearby Halesworth is a little gem as are the numerous country churches eg Huntingfield, Wenhaston, Walpole, Covehithe.
