  • "Seating in lounge area was old and uncomfortable."

Shower pressure was very low and could only use the one in main bathroom as ensuite shower had no pressure. Need egg cups in kitchen. Garden not secure, so dogs could escape.

Thanks for your feedback and comments. We will add egg cups to the kitchen, which is a great idea. We are aware of the shower's low pressure and are planning to fix it, but this does require a full rebuild of the water system, which is planned for 2025, when we are due for a bigger makeover. I am sorry you didn't like the furniture in the sitting room—there are two sofas and armchairs, and they seem very comfortable to us. In terms of the garden, it is worth noting that it is over 3 acres, and we do not want to fence it in. We like the fact that deer and other animals come and go across our land, which is key to our re-wilding approach. There is a fence on the southern side of the property, but the north side is open to a large expanse of fields. We have a young dog and have never had an issue with them running away. Property Owner

  • "It was a lovely cottage, in an ideal placement for exploring the area."

The garden was lovely and suitable for kids. The firepit was a lovely addition, with everything provided. The house was well set out and provided everything needed. We can appreciate it's work in progress, suggestions would be that the sofas in the lounge are updated as they are too well worn and uncomfortable. Unfortunately, they were unusable for one of our party. Overall a lovely place to stay. Good luck with it in the future.

  • "The propertty was great and just what we wanted."

It was comfortable for the adults and had great scope for the children to enjoy the garden and grounds. It was a great find, and we'd gladly return if we are in the area again.

I am so glad you enjoyed it! We would love you to come back. Property Owner

The children had a wonderful time exploring and just enjoying the space. Our four legged friend was in his glory. Would come back again.

  • "We stayed for a week and the house and grounds were beautiful."

We chose this property because of the land with us having an energetic dog. We saw lots of wildlife including muntjac deer hedgehogs rabbits and many different species of birds. We went on many walks through the 3 acres attached to the cottage. The only thing I would suggest is that due to the ongoing effort of rewilding the photographs on the website should be updated as the grounds are very different too what was expected when we chose this cottage. The grass ideally around the house could do too be a bit more manicured as the garden isn’t as good as it should be which made it very difficult too keep the grass out of the cottage. We cleared the patio for our own comfort as we sat out most of the time in the garden with it being very hot. We would like to return in the future as we loved the property and the area was very good too visit lots too do and see.

I'm delighted you enjoyed your stay and saw all the resident animals! We will update the photographs, as you are right. The land around the yurt does look quite different now that we have added a firepit and let the grass grow long (with paths winding through it). We will be there in two weeks and will take some new photographs. The challenge with taking a nature-led approach is that things change over time, so photographs are always out of date! We have asked the gardener to look at the area around the house and ensure that it is kept in good order. I think the recent rain has meant that things have grown faster than usual. Hopefully, when you return, you will see it looking better. Property Owner

  • "Whilst we very much enjoyed the location and amount of land the property had we were surprised by some issues that could be very easily remedied and make the stay that much more enjoyable: 1."

Whilst the kitchen provided a lot of things (provisions) other properties perhaps do not it was a surprise that there was not a microwave. 2. The cleanliness of the house was not what it should be. It was clear that a good cleaning had not taken place and there were a lot of cobwebs, dust etc in every room. 3. Whilst it should be applauded that the current owner is in the process of "re-wilding" the land, it is felt that the lawn area immediately adjacent to the property should be mowed. 4. The two patio areas have not been cleaned for sometime and the paving was very dirty and overgrown. Making it not very pleasant to sit there when the weather is good. 5. The patios would benefit from better seating such as a patio / picnic table and chairs for outside dining and comfort in the better weather. We hope that these above suggestions are taken in the way they are intended, i.e. to make a positive improvement to what is already available.

I am pleased you enjoyed the location and the amount of land. We are getting a microwave and will have one in place for July '24. I am sorry that the cleaning was substandard. We have reported this to the cleaning company, as it is very disappointing. We have also fed back the issues around the patio to the gardener and have asked him to resolve this. Thanks for the comments. We appreciate it. Property Owner

  • "It was a fantastic stay."

All our groups really enjoy. Ambiance is fabulous. Only just couple of considerations bath room water pressure and microwave oven is missing in the kitchen.

I am delighted you enjoyed your stay! Thank you for suggesting the microwave - we will get this sorted. The water pressure in the area isn't tremendous, and we are planning to overhaul the water system when we work on the property in the new year. Property Owner

  • "Quiet rural setting with lots of space for a relaxing stay."

Deer, geese, pheasant, ducks and rabbits see in the grounds. Very well stocked kitchen with helpful recommendations for where to get the best local produce.

Delighted you enjoyed your stay. We are working really hard to encourage the local wildlife and have added 2 new wildlife ponds and an entire border of deadwood hedging and it seems to be working! Property Owner

  • "The property in general has so much potential, but unfortunately the cleanliness of the property was a big issue, dirty plates with food still stuck on them were placed back in the cupboards, dust was an issue all over the house along with lots of creepy crawlies."

Yes we are in the country, but these little critters looked like they had taken up permanent residency. Broken trampolin in the garden is a safety issue, (But what an amazing garden to explore.) In hindsight what we paid to stay for the three nights reflected the condition of the property as it was a reasonable priced break. Would we stay again?, probably not as it appears smaller compared to the pictures. But I must say, as a family get together we made it work and had a great time.

Thanks for the feedback - this is a property we've only just started to rent out, so we are always keen to hear how things can be improved. While we are delighted you had a great time and enjoyed the garden, we are sorry it wasn't perfect for you. We were particularly disappointed to hear that it was dusty. We have fed this back to the cleaner and specifically asked her to check the plates in case the previous guests put them away dirty and to check for dust and spiders. We will also get the trampoline looked at, as it was in good condition the last time our kids played on it but may have been damaged by some of the recent storms. Property Owner
