  • "Very reasonably priced, basic adequate accommodation."

    Only two drawbacks. Firstly, parking is some 200 meters away, but that's no matter really, the car park is perfectly safe. Secondly, and more importantly, the double bed has a mattress that is more lumpy than poorly made porridge and we had to move to the single beds after the first night! Apart from that, all was good, and we'd use again.

    Thank you will go and check bed. You can park your car for off loading and loading and drop things off if you been out at all.And there is parking for people with disabilities next to cottages.This was brought in to make it safer for everyone. Thank you for your feedback. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful location surrounded by wildlife,wild animals and countryside."

    Many places to visit within a twenty minute drive. Our bungalow was comfortable, well equipped clean and well maintained. My elderly parents would have appreciated a tea pot,also in there double bedroom there was a TV but no ariel connection,the DVD player scart connection was also missing unfortunately.

  • "Overall a lovely stay at Lily Cottages."

    They had everything needed for a few days stay. Lovely cottage and lovely staff at the reception. The only things I would suggest is that the pool be heated as it was freezing for the kids (& us) otherwise, great break away close to Eastbourne seaside (~15-20 mins drive).   • "For me, my husband and our little dog it was a perfect getaway."

    Peaceful, relaxed and tranquil. We enjoyed strolling round the beautiful well kept/clean grounds, lots of space and trees and a lovely lake nestled away in a natural setting. For anyone who needs to rest, relax & restore - as described on the published leaflet we picked up in the office, then this holiday retreat couldn't be better. Will book again.

  • "Cannot fault the cottage, on our arrival every thing was clean and inviting."

    We were provided with a blanket for our dog (I did make sure that i covered areas with my own throws, better safe than sorry). It was just so comfortable, also the owner was at the other end of the phone immediately, on arrival I had an issue with a door, nothing wrong with the door... I had never encountered that kind of system. I haven't stopped telling people how good it all was. Because I really was very impressed.

  • "Had a lovely week at the cottage with warm weather and sunshine every day."

    Great base for all the attractions in the area and about a 10 minute drive to the nearest big supermarket in Hailsham. Cottage was very well presented and had all the amenities you could need. We seemed to be the only ones on site and it was just lovely and peaceful with the only noise being from birds. Pleasant surprise to see alpaca’s just by the Manor House. Please note you can’t leave your car outside the cottage unless you have a blue badge. But it literally only takes an 3 min walk to the car park so no problem. Only thing to be picky about is the hoover. It has a really bad smell of dogs, that we couldn’t use it, so if you could change the bag, that would be it. Thank you so much for a fabulous week

  • "Fantastic stay in LilyRose, everything we needed and great communication with the Owner."

    Sadly cant say the same about Sykes. Tried every way to contact them with no avail, the website didnt give me the answer I was looking for, tried ringing just diverted back to website, emailed them and never received any answer. Unfortunately I will not be using Sykes again, you need to be able to contact somebody when you have questions / issues.

  • "This was the second time that me and my partner booked this cottage as we enjoyed it so much the first time."

    The cottage is like home from home with all the facilities, and clean and comfortable - everything that you could ask for. I loved the thoughtful additions waiting for us when we arrived with the 2 pints of milk in the fridge, 2 packets of biscuits and fresh flowers in a vase on the kitchen table - thank you so much! We loved staying in this cottage as the area is so quiet and peaceful, and the grounds are well maintained.

  • "I stayed at Lilyrose cottage for 4 nights just recently, it is an absolutely beautifuly clean cottage, with a welcoming feel, with added little extras to make your stay totally home from home, the owners thought of everything and the cottage is very well equipped, the surroundings the cottage sits in, are also very beautiful, peaceful and tranquil, i did have some lovely strolls around the estate, i would highly recommend this little gem for a peaceful, relaxing stay, but saying that, it is not to far away from local amenities and towns for exploring, thankyou for letting us stay in your delightful cottage."

The property

This well-presented, detached bungalow sits on a rural site with similar properties on the outskirts of Stone Cross, East Sussex.

Well-presented with an open-plan living space and enjoying access to on-site facilities, Lilyrose Cottage is a perfect choice for a family of four looking to getaway to Sussex for a little while.

Upon arrival there is dedicated off-road parking in the car park, however you can drop off your bags just outside the property.

Enter through the stable door into the open-plan living space; take over the kitchen as you become familiar with appliances, whilst the rest of the group lays the dining table with crockery and cutlery in time for a big feast.

Move over to the corner sofa and flick on the TV for entertainment, pondering on the next adventure.

As the evening comes to a close, freshen up in the bathroom with choice of bath and shower over before retiring to either of the bedrooms; there is a double and a twin with zip/link beds.

At the rear of the property is a small patio with table, chairs and barbecue, perfect for enjoying a grilled feast in the summer months.

On-site there are some facilities; take a splash in the outdoor pool, allow the children to explore the play area or cast your rod in one of the fishing lakes.

Head out the park and within two miles there are two pubs, The Holly Blue and The Red Lion, where you can enjoy a pint and traditional pub fare, whilst there are two garden centres just outside the park which offer cafés and farmshops.

The village of Pevensey is close and is home to Pevensey Castle, one of the last remaining ‘Saxon Shore’ forts, whilst slightly further along lies Eastbourne, where you can enjoy beach days, explore the Victorian pier and a host of amusements, the Towner Art Gallery, the historic Redoubt Fortress and the Eastbourne Miniature Steam Railway.

Alternatively, travel to the historic town of Hastings; here you can tour Hastings Castle and Hastings Museum and Art Gallery.

Lilyrose Cottage is a fantastic base for exploring this part of Southern England.

Pevensey 3 miles; Polegate 4 miles; Eastbourne 5 miles; Battle 12 miles; Lewes 15 miles.

The hamlet of Stone Cross is located close to the village of Polegate, near to the seaside towns of Pevensey and Eastbourne. Stone Cross has a few essential amenities and Polegate and Hailsham several pubs and tea shops to choose from and the shops provide all your daily requirements. Near to the cottage are several places where you can access the Cuckoo Trail, which has 14 miles of walks and cycle ways, from where you can take in the Sussex air as you enjoy the views. The village of Pevensey, with its famous castle, gives you the chance to step back in time, where you can explore the towering ruins or delve into the dungeons; as one of England's oldest castles, it is a fun day out for all the family, plus Pevensey Bay is a haven for wildlife, or whilst you’re here why not take a dip in the sea? For children, young and old, a day at Drusillas Zoo offers a day to remember, or perhaps spend a day in the village of Alfriston, where you will find cobbled streets and antiques shops. With excellent transport links to all parts of Sussex and into London, Stone Cross makes an excellent place to stay when exploring the coast, or the many historic towns, which you will find nearby.
