The cottage was comfortable, warm, clean, well equipped and a real home from home experience. The owners Mark and Kim were very friendly and were on hand to answer any queries whilst still respecting your privacy whilst staying in their property. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Would highly recommend.

It was great to meet you both. So glad you enjoyed your stay with us at Albie's end. We've been open a year now (you may have been our anniversary couple) :-), and it has been really great for myself and Kim meeting new people from all over the country (and beyond). Lets hope you both can make it back to Albie's end one day for another visit. Have a fantastic Christmas! Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay."

The cottage had everything we needed and the hosts Kim and Mark were very welcoming and helpful. We even found the "paddle" stairs a bit of a novelty. Ideally placed for a 40 minute walk into Battle on the 1066 country walk, and a good location to get to lots of National Trust and English Heritage locations.

Thankyou for your feedback. We are so happy you enjoyed yourself during your stay at Albie's end. Property Owner

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay last week at Albie’s End."

It’s a lovely property and provided everything we needed for our week. It is tastefully furnished, well equipped, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It’s in a great location too, and a good base for walks and days out in the surrounding countryside and on the coast. We would be very happy to return for another visit. 10 out of 10 to Kim and Mark.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Albie's End."

The cottage has everything we needed and the owners surprised us with a nice welcome pack. The new cottage is warm and comfortable, but you should be aware of the steep staircase up to the bedroom. Albie's End is the right place to explore the South Downs and the coast, we especially enjoyed our walks at Beachy Head. A great plus is the White Hart Inn in walking distance which serves excellent food in a very friendly atmosphere. Strongly recommended!

Hi Bernd, hope your homeward journey was better than the one when you arrived. Really glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Property Owner

  • "Albie’s End is a wonderful retreat, ideal for a couple/singleton who want some quiet time and an opportunity to venture out and see some local sights."

It is ideally situated for Battle, Hastings and the south coast as well as Bodiam Castle and The Science Observatory. The station is only a few minutes away too so access further afield without driving is also an option. The property is an annexe to the hosts’ home but other than checking everything was ok on arrival and offering to help unload the car, we would never have known. Albie’s End is equipped with everything you need and arriving to find tea/coffee and milk in the fridge was much appreciated (as were the snacks/Prosecco). We were also delighted to find a teapot as we had forgotten to pack the one we usually travel with. Kim and Mark were also wonderfully understanding when due to an unexpected hospital appointment we had to push our arrival back to Sunday evening. A highlight of the week was definitely watching the birds on the strategically placed bird feeders. We would definitely return and fully recommend this rental.

That's great feedback. Thankyou Sally it is much appreciated. We look forward to your return. Hope the weather is better next time :-) Property Owner

  • "It is an immaculately clean and well resourced property."

Everything we needed was there and we really appreciated the Christmas tree, mince pies and Prosecco (thank you). `The stairs are dangerous for anyone infirm but this was clearly stated in the information we received. Our only small complaint is that the water pressure in the shower is rather feeble.

Thanks for the feedback, we’re so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. This is our first Christmas so really pleased that what we provided helped with the celebrations. Agreed that the ‘paddle’ stairs are unusual and take a bit of getting used to, but I can assure you that they are compliant with current building regulations. With regard the Shower; we don’t normally experience low water pressure, but we are looking into the issue and if anything needs to be done we will sort it. Property Owner

Kitted out with all you'd wish for. Hosts were very helpful on arrival yet left managed to leave us alone despite being just next door if needed. Spotlessly clean and ideal for a couple if like us hoping to explore the local area with is great for its history and walking and cycling. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Albie's End.

About the location

BATTLE

Hastings 6 miles; Bexhill-on-Sea 7.5 miles; Eastbourne 15 miles.

Battle is a quaint town in East Sussex situated inland and about 6 miles from the more vibrant sister, seaside town of Hastings. Both are famous for their involvement with the battle between William the Conqueror and King Harold in 1066 which changed the course of English history forever. With its narrow alleys, Battle prides itself on remaining a historic landmark, although it is now a bustling and busy place that welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world each year. Visitors come to indulge in the delights that tea rooms such as Mrs Burton's can offer with high tea being served on tall cake stands in a quintessential English parlour dating back to the 16th century. They can browse around charming shops selling local produce and hand-made goods, local butchers and organic vegetable stores where cheeses and wines made only a few miles away are on sale. But, standing proud over this lovely town so full of history, is Battle Abbey. Majestic in its appearance and, although with part of it's buildings now laying in ruins, it still attracts visitors who explore its battlegrounds and Abbey ruins. On the green, events and exhibitions take place throughout the year from costumed marble matches to medieval fayres and scarecrow competitions. Only a short drive away Hastings offers visitors the chance to enjoy a day by the sea, swimming or sailing, fishing or wind-surfing. Or why not dine alfresco at one of the numerous restaurants in the old town with its view over Hastings Castle on the hill, before taking in a show or a play at one of the theatres close by? Separated by only a few miles, but joined by history, Hastings and Battle are towns that offer excitement and enjoyment at any time of year.
