The cottage

Hellingly 2.6 miles.

This immaculately presented, superbly located, detached holiday home has its own hot tub and is set in the owner's 10 acre grounds overlooking the beautiful Sussex countryside close to the village of Hellingly.

An ideal cottage for couples either looking for a romantic getaway or those wanting a longer holiday with lovely walks right from their doorstep, quaint villages with interesting histories to visit, coastal resorts within easy driving distance, or just a relaxing break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Luxuriously appointed throughout, Pump House has been transformed by the owners into a spacious, contemporary self-catering holiday cottage where guests can enjoy time together.

The open plan living area with its sumptuous seating is perfect for settling down with a good book or a DVD and a glass of wine in the evening.

The modern fitted kitchen with its well positioned breakfast bar lets you start the day enjoying the lovely views over the Sussex countryside.

If you are bringing a dog with you on your holiday, then a place below the breakfast bar has been specially left large enough for any size of dog bed!

The attractive bedroom also benefits from having a separate dressing room next door, so debating what to wear can be done in private, while your other half enjoys a longer lie-in.

Outside, guests have their own enclosed garden with views over glorious countryside, but adding even more appeal is the hot tub where you can relax, chat and enjoy all that this very special place has to offer.

Enjoy a long day exploring the sights and sounds of this part of Sussex, walk the Cuckoo Trail winding its way along 14 miles of the former Cuckoo Line railway track, clamber over castle ruins at Hastings or Rye, visit the gardens and grounds at Herstmonceux castle, take in the site of the majestic Battle Abbey, or maybe just have a relaxing paddle at Bexhill-on-Sea.

Hellingly is a quiet village in the heart of Sussex ideally situated for exploring the Sussex countryside and the coast. The most important part of the village is its church which was started in 1190 and has been built on the only remaining undamaged ciric in Sussex. A ciric is a circular Celtic burial ground, built above ground to ensure the graves are kept dry. This location is particularly popular with walkers and cyclists due to the famous Cuckoo Trail. A 14 mile surfaced path through the Sussex countryside which is mostly traffic free and is a safe route for walkers and cyclists of all ages. It follows the picturesque trail of the former ‘Cuckoo Line’ railway track, now a green corridor with a host of natural wildlife, flora and fauna including wild garlic which can be found along the way. There are picnic tables dotted along the route and places for refreshment are never far from the trail. Dog walkers, cyclists and horse riders are all welcome. Now a quiet and peaceful village, Hellingly has had a varied past, as has the many villages surrounding it. Visitors to this part of Sussex can walk along footpaths said to be once trodden by Crusaders off to fight in the Holyland at Cross in Hand, or perhaps imagine their last sight of England as they set sail from Rye. This part of Sussex is full of history and historic events, how could it be anything else when Hastings and Battle are only a few miles away. Hellingly is a holiday destination with so much to offer.
