  • "Really lovely accommodation Very well equipped Warm and cosy Comfy beds and sofa On the small side but fine if there’s only 2 of you Really centrally located The bathroom door needs urgent attention as you could easily be trapped in or out due to the mechanism on the lock Really wish Sykes made owners specify the type of bedding or gave you somewhere to request no feathers!"

The lack of dedicated parking was a bit of an issue and would put me off returning but everything you need is in walking distance. We had a lovely time here and I would recommend it.

Many thanks for posting your review and for also letting us know about the bathroom door, which has now been sorted. We are glad you enjoyed so many aspects of the property. Although there is no dedicated parking for the cottage, we are fortunate to have a large car park a 3 minute walk away with all day parking available for £4.10 which I hope you were able to use and with regard to any feathers...if you do find yourself wanting to return, we would happily try and supply you with a different type of duvet! • "Gorgeous cottage, with beautiful furnishings and artwork."

The distance to the town centre was excellent. It's also very convenient for the best chip shop we've ever been to! The interior design of the cottage was lovely. It was also great to have access to a dishwasher and washing machine. The welcome pack was also a nice touch. Communication we had with the owners was great and they were very accommodating. Only issue was the bathroom door had a tendency to stick. We also struggled with the oven, but that may have been us. Overall, a fantastic stay and we would definitely stay again.

Thank you for your great review...we'll certainly look at the bathroom door though and look forward to you returning in the future. Property Owner

Charming original features, attractive decor and accessories. A refreshing cool haven on a hot day. Useful terrace. The standard double bed was a little too snug for two so we used the single as the second bed, and slept very well.

It is centrally situated in the beautiful South Downs and is very close to Charleston House and perfect for exploring the coast and countryside of East Sussex. .No noise from the street ( a cul-de-sac ) and the main bedroom and lounge face away from the road . Very close to shops and cafes . We came by train and used both train and bus to get around, including the little shuttle bus to Charleston as well as walking along the river from the house .

So glad you had such a good week and found our central location made using the bus and trains easy to explore the wider area. Property Owner

  • "Overall a lovely house and we had a very enjoyable stay."

Excellent location, quiet but easy to walk to the town centre, shops, and station. The colour scheme is a bit surprising, makes it feel smaller and quite dark. We used both bedrooms, the window in the front bedroom needs sorting out, it was impossible to close it so there was a howling gale in the gap between sashes, we jammed a towel in it to try and seal this. This room would be improved a great deal by fettling the window and maybe a secondary glazing panel to keep it warmer and cut out some street noise. Kitchen gets cold, a curtain behind the front door would cut out the draught. The coat rack in the kitchen is coming off the wall, needs fixing. Everything else works well although it would be nice to have the heating come on earlier, maybe seven rather than eight a.m.

We're glad you enjoyed your stay and thank you for your feedback. The heating manual is in the house so guests are able to alter the times it it comes on themselves, but we'll certainly look into the draughts you mention. Property Owner

Clean, comfortable and well equipped. Fab location and great to have a play area and children's bookshop so nearby for our daughter. I think Sykes could’ve given me more info prior to the visit about parking arrangements as they only directed me to pay and display car parks, which weren’t necessary, as we found out when we arrived. It is a beautiful, well maintained cottage. Yet I find customer service of Sykes Cottages hopeless. I contacted you numerous times asking for the invoice ending not receiving one at all (although promised!) faced numerous incometent consultants. Moreover the fact that the only way of contacting you effectively is by phone practically affects the comfort of the clients from overseas.

Everything we could need and spotlessly clean.(I hope we left it the same). Nice to have an outside courtyard too. It is in a very convenient location and on the flat, a good plus in hilly Lewes! We did, however, walk to the golf club at the top of the hill and that is a real challenge, but worth it for the views. Just round the corner from the river, great cafes and enough antique shops to keep us busy for days. A real find!
