  • "Lovely cosy cottage with everything you need and in a good location."

Very close to Waitrose for groceries on foot and not far from Beachy Head/Seven Sisters by car. Would benefit from check-out instructions with regards to rubbish/linen.

  • "We had a lovely stay, the accommodation is very clean and comfortable, and a welcome pack was provided on arrival which was nice."

This was our second stay here and the cottage has been much improved by replacing the bath tub with a really nice walk in shower. The location is great for us close to a good supermarket, a lovely park and a few nice pubs (you can get a lovely meal at The Lamb). Eastbourne has lots of shops in the town and a lovely promenade to walk along which can take you to the Sussex Downs coastal path to Beachy Head. There are lots of places to visit nearby. All in all a very good holiday. Many thanks.

Only downside was passing noise in front bedroom only, as right on high street .

  • "We very much enjoyed our stay at Star Cottage, however a few more kitchen utensiles and crockery would be useful."

A washing machine would also be useful especially if you are staying for a week or more, but I understand that there was very little room to put one. The cottage was very clean and the bed very comfortable. On the whole a very enjoyable stay.

  • "Despite previous guests making comments, there are still items lacking in the kitchen: corkscrew, spatula, ladle, oven proof casserole would all be welcome."

The grill pan was greasy and all mugs were unwashed. The hand soap dispenser was empty in bathroom, and no bin. The sheets and duvet cover are unpleasant polyester cotton, with stained mattress covers and one pillowcase was badly marked. The front bedroom would benefit from a curtain due to lights on overnight in antique shop opposite. There is little storage in second bedroom and tins of paint in one cupboard alongside extra pillows (already 4 provided) and covers in the front bedroom. The hot water thermostat is set too high and could scale someone. Already others have mentioned the bathtub issue, it could be solved with circular shower curtain and head fixed to wall. Overall disappointed with the facilities and cleanliness.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay at our property. I want to address the concerns you raised in a manner that ensures clarity and understanding. Firstly, I would like to clarify that all the items you mentioned were present on the property. We are sorry that you were unable to find them, as we take into account the feedback of previous guests to improve our accommodations continuously. (There is no casserole dish, I agree)now provided, Regarding the water temperature,is set according to the recommendations our heating engineer to ensure the comfort and safety of our guests you been the 1st to comment about this. We take great care to ensure the cleanliness of our property, and any stains or issues are promptly addressed. If there was a stain that we missed, I sincerely apologize for the oversight I will guarantee that everything was cleaned thoroughly by external laundry. we have decided to remove the bathtub entirely. Consequently, we believe there will be no need to install a shower curtain. Instead, we are planning to replace the bathtub with a walk-in shower. This modification will enhance the convenience and accessibility for our guests. The installation of the walk-in shower is scheduled for this month. I would like to address the issue of the dirty mugs and grease pan. It is unacceptable for these items to be left dirty, and I apologize for any inconvenience caused. We will investigate this matter further and take appropriate action, including discussing this with our cleaners to ensure that such oversights do not occur in the future,it is our responsibility to ensure that the property is thoroughly cleaned for each new arrival. Thank you once again for bringing these matters to our attention. On another note we really feel that you have been excessively harsh and bit deluded with Grandjeur. Nonetheless, some of the comments have been constructive. Thank You Best wishes Property Owner

  • "It was a gorgeous little cottage."

Very cosy and we spent a lovely few days over Xmas visiting family. The only downside was the bathroom- although it was very beautiful, it was not practical. A walk in shower would be much easier. The flush on the toilet was also a bit temperamental.

thank you for the feedback will be in the process of making the changes from this bath to a walk-in shower room as we’ve had multiple comments regarding the Bath. It looks beautiful but not practical. Property Owner

  • "A fantastic stay in this property."

We were made to feel special straight away with the welcome basket. A warm, cosy, original cottage in the heart of the friendly old town. Amenities close to hand and a great base for sight seeing/ visiting old haunts. Clean & well maintained. Cosy beds, great kitchen, cute living space, lovely bathroom ( great first a pamper) and plush carpet. Useful feedback: Kitchen: Would benefit from a tin opener/ bottle opener, waste food recycling bin, glass recycling bin outside and a sieve. Left hand tap handle kept falling off. Living room: instruction folder for telly, heating and microwave. Comments book & a lamp (for subdued lighting in evening). We used two from upstairs and made it feel even more cosy. We were there when bad weather struck so lots of cold air coming in under front door. Optional draft excluder may help in winter months. We know this is a new holiday rental and is work in progress so this is why we have added more suggestions. For me, my sister, two girls and a dog this was a fantastic property and nice to see a different aspect of the old town. Our grandparents used to live in Eastbourne and this break helped us say goodbye.

Thank you so much for the feedback we’ve taken it all on board and made the changes already. Thank you Property Owner

  • "We stayed for 10 days with our dog and found this cottage excellent for all our needs."

Very clean and everything provided to make it a comfortable stay. There is a patio area where you can sit out which is quite a sun trap in the afternoon. We also received a welcome pack which was really kind. The location in the old town is really nice close to a supermarket, a few pubs, two of which were really lovely, The Lamb and The Rainbow which are good for food and drinks and also dog friendly. A few minutes walk away is a lovely big park. Eastbourne is a very nice seaside town with a lovely promenade if you like to walk, and plenty of shops. A good place to stay if you like to do a bit of sight seeing, we visited Herstmonceux Castle, Hastings, Peveney, Brighton and Battle. You can walk to Beachy Head from Eastbourne along the coastal path. We did have great weather which also contributed to our lovely holiday.

Thank you so much for your lovely review, I'm thrilled to hear that you had such a wonderful stay at the cottage with your dog. It's fantastic to know that the cottage catered to all your needs and provided a comfortable stay. The patio area sounds like the perfect spot to relax and soak up some sun in the afternoon. I'm glad to hear that you received a welcome pack upon arrival. It's those little thoughtful gestures that can really make a difference in ensuring a great experience. The location in the old town sounds delightful, with the convenience of a nearby supermarket and the charming pubs, The Lamb and The Rainbow. It's especially wonderful that these establishments are dog friendly, as it allows for a more inclusive and enjoyable experience. Exploring the nearby park and taking in the sights of Eastbourne's lovely promenade must have been a treat. I'm delighted to hear that you took advantage of the town's proximity to various attractions, such as Herstmonceux Castle, Hastings, Peveney, Brighton, and Battle. And how amazing that you were able to venture along the coastal path to Beachy Head! It must have been a breathtaking experience, especially with the great weather you had. Once again, thank you for sharing your positive feedback with us. It was a pleasure to assist you, and I hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back to the cottage in the future. • "We really enjoyed our stay, the cottage is in a great situation in the old town although it is a bit of a walk down to the sea front."

The cottage is very newly done up and we found it comfortable. There were tiny teething problems such as the fridge hadn't been emptied from the people before and the draining rack wasn't cleaned, but in general the cottage was very well presented and we appreciated the welcome pack and also plenty of spare toilet roll ( often cottages can be stingy)! We would recommend this as a very pleasant base to explore Eastbourne and the South Downs.

Thank you for you comments and understanding of the Teething problems our new venture. We have now employed a specialist holiday let cleaning team. Thank you again. Property Owner

  • "LOTS of dust on blinds and heating controller."

No aerial in TV, so wasn't worth having. Sink in bathroom leaking from waste. Rubbish from previous occupiers in bedroom bin. Overall Finish looked rushed. Cheap dining room and table and chairs. Very sharp edges, so uncomfortable. Bedroom linen new, and guess it was not washed as was scratchy. Would be lovely if these points were sorted out.

Thank you for your valuable feedback. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the cleanliness of the blinds and the presence of rubbish in the bin. We have addressed this issue with our cleaning staff to ensure it does not happen again. Regarding the TV, there is no aerial as it is a smart TV that functions through apps and hubs. When we acquired the property, it had been unoccupied for more than 15 years. We dedicated 9 months to fully restore it. As for the dining table, due to limited space, we require a folding option, which limits our choices. Rest assured that all bedding is new and has been properly washed before use. We appreciate you bringing the bathroom waste to our attention and will promptly have it inspected. Thank you for your understanding. Property Owner

  • "This was a lovely cottage - nicely decorated and handy for our purposes."

Close to shops restaurants and cafes. There was a lovely welcome box with all you would need to chill after a long journey which was a great touch and highly appreciated. The towels were new and all was clean and up to date with a nice sitting area outside which was private. The cottage is small but we managed well with three adults and a dog. We had good communication with the key holder - there was nothing I would have changed - the only thing would have been that if I had stayed longer - a washing macihine would have been appreciated. But for my short stay not required. Thank you

Thank you for your valuable feedback. We truly appreciate your thoughts on the cottages. However, we understand that the size of the cottages may not accommodate a washing machine. We have carefully considered various options to find a suitable place for one, but unfortunately, there is simply no available space for it. Property Owner

Eastbourne is the perfect location for a seaside holiday and has been since Queen Victoria was on the throne. With its mild climate and easy access from London, this lovely coastal town has increased its appeal throughout the centuries. With 5 miles of award-winning shingle beaches to stroll along, you can enjoy the sea air even if you aren't quite ready for a swim. Eastbourne's historic pier, built in around 1866, offers entertainment all day and well into the night with its amusement arcade, cafes, shops, and nightclub, and from here you can even take a speed boat ride around the bay. After a day of visiting the museums, art galleries or numerous antiques shops in the town, why not sit and watch the waves roll by as you enjoy afternoon tea in Victorian Tea Rooms on the pier? Golfers are spoilt for choice with four golf courses close by, and tennis is also a popular sporting choice with the AEGON International women’s and men’s tournaments taking place in June prior to Wimbledon. There is even an Eastbourne Extreme weekend, with demonstrations in mountain biking, skateboarding, sailing, windsurfing and many other sports, so if you are energetic and willing, get down there and join the fun! For those who prefer to be entertained, take your seats in one of the four major theatres that Eastbourne is home to, offering all types of entertainment from traditional seaside shows and musicals to classical ballets and opera. If you are lucky enough to be here in August, bring a picnic and be prepared for Airbourne, an international flying event which passes over the sea. If you fancy a day away from the beach, there are many other places to visit in Eastbourne, including Treasure Island for warm, sunny days or the Drusillas Park Zoo. So, if you are looking for a holiday spot with something for everyone, look no further than Eastbourne.
