  • "An amazing place!"

Awesome location. The only minor point would be a shower curtain.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review and 5/5 rating — we’re delighted to hear you enjoyed the location and your stay with us. We really appreciate your feedback about the shower curtain as well. It’s a helpful suggestion, and we’re already looking into options to make that part of the bathroom even more comfortable for future guests. Thanks again for staying with us, and we’d be thrilled to welcome you back anytime! Property Owner

  • "A beautiful location with outstanding views from every window."

A cosy, compact, spotlessly clean property with a very comfortable bed. Adequate kitchen arrangement but combination microwave would benefit from being at a higher level as it is awkward to use at knee level. The bath/shower is challenging to get into as it is accessed by a high step which is difficult if you have any mobility issues. The area would benefit from a shower curtain. TV reception is intermittent. Despite the negatives mentioned we had a wonderful stay in a beautiful part of the world.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback — and for your lovely comments about the Lighthouse Keepers Cabin’s views, cleanliness, and comfort. We are delighted to hear that you had a wonderful stay overall and enjoyed this beautiful corner of the world. We also truly appreciate your constructive suggestions. We will review and see what adjustments can be made. Thank you again for being such considerate guests and for balancing your practical insights with such kind words. It is wonderful to know you enjoyed your visit, and we will be delighted to welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

  • "We arrived on 3 October just as storm Amy started."

The wind was very strong and it was difficult to get up the steps without a handrail. Couldn’t fault the cabin or views but I would say the shower is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. One of us used the sofa bed but there was no sheet to cover the sofa. All we got was a duvet and pillow and because of the storm it wasn’t possible to get anyone to bring a sheet. Also we were without power for over 25 hours (can’t blame anyone for that). Apart from those issues we enjoyed our stay at the cabin.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback following your stay at the Lighthouse Keeper's Cabin. I really appreciate your understanding and patience during what turned out to be quite a dramatic arrival with Storm Amy. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the Cabin and the views, though I’m very sorry to learn about the difficulties you experienced. Your comments regarding the shower suitability for guests with mobility challenges are well noted — we will explore possible improvements. I also apologise for the missing sheet for the sofa bed. That certainly should have been in place, and I regret that the weather conditions made it impossible to get one to you during the storm. I’ll ensure this is double-checked for all future changeovers. The extended power cut have been challenging for everyone effected by Storm Amy, and I am grateful for your good humour and understanding in such extreme weather. Despite these issues, I am very pleased that you were still able to enjoy your time at the Cabin, and I do hope we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back under calmer skies. Property Owner

  • "Absolutely fabulous location!"

Facilities generally good but shower set up is a big negative. Two huge steps to get into a hip bath spa. No curtain if using shower head. Usage instructions very vague for washing machine to action drying. Cooking hob worked the first time but not the next day.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the location and found the facilities generally good. We truly appreciate your comments regarding the shower, washing machine, and cooking hob. We're sorry to hear that these aspects impacted your experience. The bath/shower setup is unique, and we understand that the high step-in and lack of a curtain can be inconvenient. We’ll certainly look into how we can improve ease of use and clarity around this feature. Your point about the washing machine instructions is well taken — we’re currently reviewing and updating our guest guide to make the drying function and other features clearer. As for the cooking hob, we’ll have our maintenance team check the unit to ensure it's operating reliably. Your insights help us improve, and we’re grateful you brought these to our attention. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and provide an even better experience next time. Property Owner

Good use of the space. Beautiful views all around. The spa bath was a bit quirky but nice after a days walk. Would recommend a swim in North Baths. Kitchen would benefit from a large serving spoon and a fish slice. Instructions for the washing machine too.

Inside the cabin is modern and well laid out, the bed is 10/10 for comfort- I have never slept so well before in my life. Then there’s the exterior, my goodness what a view! Rain, wind or sunshine (and trust me you will experience all of these within the same five minutes) the view is spectacular, with castle Sinclair Girnigoe, John O’Groats and a breathtaking coast visible from the window it won’t matter if you’re out to explore or hiding from the weather there’s always something to look at. I have recommended this place to everyone I know and I will be back!

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this newly renovated property in such an amazing setting ."

It was very clean and luxurious, but new so needs a few tweaks ….. induction hob was not working correctly …. Although we did manage to use it . Mirror to be put on the wall , which I’m sure is in the plan. Great to have a proper fridge with a tiny but very useful freezer compartment . Could do with a saucepan. The sit in jacuzzi bath tub is a fantastic idea, but in reality, takes quite a time to fill, and even with a shower head with it, it’s not easy to have a wash! Also, it is very high to get into and out of and potentially slippery. Instruction booklets for appliances would be helpful. However, all in all, a wonderful stay, comfortable bed and place. WiFi patchy. I would not recommend for 4 people. For 2 it was great. Location unique …. Amazing .

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed review — we're absolutely delighted to hear that you had such a wonderful stay and enjoyed the unique setting and comfort of the property! We really appreciate your constructive comments as well. We're pleased to let you know that a new saucepan has now been added, and we’ve taken note of the other useful suggestions too. Being located in a Grand A listed site does come with certain space and layout constraints, but rest assured we’ve done everything possible within those limits to ensure a luxurious and comfortable guest experience. The induction hob has since been checked, and we’re working on improving clarity with instruction booklets for all appliances. The mirror installation is indeed part of our ongoing enhancements. As for the bath, we completely understand your points and will explore solutions that maintain both safety and practicality without compromising the design that makes the space special. Thank you again for highlighting the highlights — the comfort, cleanliness, setting, and overall experience — which mean a lot to us. We’d be thrilled to welcome you back again soon! Property Owner
