Excellent property in a stunning part of Scotland.

Well equipped kitchen and really nice spaces to relax. Excellent bedrooms and comfy beds/bedding. As mentioned phone signal can be poor across networks and WiFi slow for streaming/downloading - but this is a minor point and mentioned in booking info.

The accommodation was comfortable and well maintained.

We had a couple of minor issues which were promptly resolved by the owner who lived locally. It is well located for sports facilities at Loch Insh and walks around Loch an Eileen and Loch Morlich although access to the latter was closed due to fires during our visit. The small lounge upstairs is ideal for younger family members to watch separate TV or DVDs. The beds and furnishings were comfortable throughout.

We are just back from a fantastic week in Inshcraig and would 100% book again.

The cottage felt like home, the garden was lovely. The house was so private never heard a thing all week. There are lovely walks, the water sports centre just a few minutes walk away. So much to do within short driving distance but house felt so secluded and private. The only down side was the wifi was not good and it with the weather being great and so much to do it wasn’t a problem but if the weather had been different it could have been an issue

We had a great week at Inchcraig.

It was a very well equipped, light and comfortable house. Having a second snug living room upstairs gave us options for a reading or games room. We liked how welcoming the house is with its contemporary decor and furnishings. The attention to detail from the clear instructions to operate the TV etc to the hooks to hang up stuff in the large entrance area just made living in the house easy. Well done Jennifer. We had some fabulous cross country bike routes and riding in the Caledonian forest always brings a sense of peace and tranquility. We had a lovely meal in the Rowan Tree Country Hotel and the Station cafe in Kingussie was the best! We would happily book again. Many thanks Wendy and Dave

Very nice comfortable cottage in beautiful area.

We saw deer, badgers, hares, owls and lots of other birds from the lounge which was a highlight. The beds are comfy and we slept well. Only issue we had was with the dishwasher with a loose shelf but that was minor. Well equipped and all we needed for a good week away.

It was cosy, comfortable and clean. Snowy week but this added to our enjoyment. We would recommend the Cafe / Gallery in Kincraig for coffees and lunch.

We've been to Inshcraig before and would most certainly go again.

It's an excellent rental with everything one needs for a great stay.

I think this was our group's fourth stay at Inshcraig, and it was just as special as always.

The building itself is so beautifully designed and in pretty well the perfect location for local walks and some of the big hills too (not that we did any this time - too windy!). I have recommended it to friends in the past and will continue to do so.

Beautiful to see deer & raptors from the window. Cosy inside with comfy beds & lovely bedrooms. Lounge furniture looking a little ‘weathered’. Check in straightforward & friendly. We could not find a welcome pack nor comprehensive guide on how to use everything nor how to leave the property on check out. TVs had v limited freesat & WiFi was weak (not an issue if out & about but if it rains, could be an issue with kids or, in our case, kids with special needs). As mentioned in another review, we messaged owner about waste disposal, message was ‘read’ on WhatsApp but we never received response. Worth every penny for the location alone.

The house is lovely and very homely.

The location is spectacular. We had an amazing time at Inchcraig. We would return in a heartbeat. Our only let down was when we made contact with the owner regarding a small damage we had caused and offering to pay for it, she didn’t respond at all. This felt quite impersonal and a little rude.

No issues at all. Very short walk to lochside. Fabulous walks and bike rides on the doorstep.

What a wonderful place to stay.

Being so close to the Loch and in a great location for exploring local areas and activities and walks to do. The house was so comfortable and homely. It was peaceful and just lovely to sit in the garden and relax. Would definitely recommend to others and it made our trip to Scotland brilliant.

We’ve stayed in quite a few cottages in the Kingussie/Aviemore area, but this is our favourite so far.

Fab location close to both towns but tucked away down a track which makes it feel a million miles away. Lounge is cosy with lots of nature right outside the window. We’ll be back again next year. Thanks very much.

A great cottage in a good position kept in loverly condition.

Das Haus Inshcraig ist sehr schön ruhig im Grünen gelegen.

Der See ist in wenigen Minuten zu Fuß zu erreichen. Uns hat die liebevolle Einrichtung sehr gefallen. Die Ausstattung ist gut. Besonders gut hat es uns gefallen, dass es draußen mehrere Sitzmöglichkeiten gibt.

We absolutely loved the property.

It was spacious with lots of facilities. The location was amazing with lots of wildlife. Inside it was comfy and decorated to a high standard. We were blessed with the weather and even managed to spend time outside. We will certainly be looking to visit again in the future.

Host Jennifer, was very good and moved swiftly to solve a couple of issues immediately.

The kitchen could do with an upgrade, which we both felt let the property down a little. Property was very warm and comfortable and we would definitely consider returning.

The cottage was fantastic, comfortable, clean, and everything you could think of was provided, very peaceful and not far to Aviemore and very close to Loch insh, we loved cooking on the Aga.

Every bed was comfortable, we slept very well, very dark no noise, plenty space for 2 cars, lovely garden, can’t fault the cottage at all, highly recommend.

As a regular annual visitor to the area we love it so finding Inshcraig on Sykes was an added bonus.

It’s perfect for our needs, from location to comfort and facilities it’s ideal! So much so, we have booked for next year again.

A lovely, comfortable cottage in a rural setting, with visiting deer.

Ideal downstairs ensuite bedroom for those who find stairs difficult. The cottage is near to Aviemore, with it's yummy ice-cream and sweetie shop! We will definitely stay again. Thank you.

We stayed at Inshcraig for Christmas week and were very pleased that the hosts had added some decorations, including a tree, to the property.

We struggled in the dark to find the property, but a quick call to the host sorted us out. The house was very comfortable for 6 adults, with a well-equipped kitchen. A few additional pointers would help to understand how to use the heaters and the dishwasher, but we worked most things out. Having never previously used an Aga, I was quite proud of producing the Christmas dinner and other meals, without too much by way of disaster! The area is great for interesting walks and not far from Aviemore for good grocery shopping.

Second time we've stayed at Inshcraig, loved it again.

Great location, really peaceful. Enjoyed the warmth throughout the property, even though we didnt use all the rooms! Aga remains a mystery :o)

The area exceeded our expectations.

Wild life and local people are brilliant. No welcoming pack in this cottage which was a disappointment. Cobwebs were seriously evident and general maintenance needed an upgrade. But we had a wonderful stay and the cottage itself is beautiful. My husband replaced the clothes line as it broke.

Sad to return home after a very good week at Inshcraig.

The accommodation had everything we were looking for; peaceful environs, close proximity to KIngussie and Aviemore, and comfortable luxury back at base. Had some good wildlife spots from the house, and we enjoyed using the aga, it makes excellent bread! Hope to return again soon.

Great property,our 2nd time here,nice peaceful location,very quiet,the property is about 15 mins car drive away from Aviemore,the highland wildlife park is also a very short drive away,G2 outdoor activities very close by also and well worth checking out if you like outdoor adventures as is ace adventures about 45 mins away.

Cottage is warm and cosy,we stayed last week in September and didn't need to light a fire or put the heating on at all,the very marvellous aga keeps the property nice and warm,Wi-Fi is very good at cottage too,we will definitely come back again sometime.

Absolutely perfect holiday in a beautiful part of Scotland.

The cottage was just right in every aspect and a delight to spend a week in. Perhaps downstairs bedding, frying pans and baking trays could be replaced as a bit worse for wear - not that I was going to bake! It was quite warm due to the AGA but the doors in the kitchen were ideal to help with that. Definitely a place to recommend, especially with the views and the wildlife that could be seen from from the garden alone.

Lovely house in a lovely location close to the Loch.

I think though it would benefit from having a few fans to cool the place during the summer as the Aga creates a lot of heat in the kitchen, lounge, and the room directly above the kitchen. Fortunately we read previous reviews and brought our own fans with us. Saying that though, during the winter months the house must be very cosy. Also, very pleasantly surprised to find a group of six deer visiting us in the mornings and last thing in the evenings.

The cottage is lovely, beautifully furnished, comfortable beds and great location.

BUT, as others have mentioned, the Aga makes the stay very uncomfortable indeed, even without the fact of the record high temperatures. We didn't like to use the kitchen cupboard after the first night as the contents were very warm the next morning. The cutlery, bread bin and even fridge door were warm. Jennifer rang to provide some tips about coping by opening the kitchen door and living room window to create a welcome breeze. But that meant we were coping with constant flies and even a bird flying in at one point. The washing machine is under the stairs, but with a vacuum cleaner and large basket in front of it. I didn't dare risk making my back wonky trying to use it. I'm sorry to be so negative, but unfortunately the discomfort defeated our enjoyment of the week.

We've been coming to Scotland for years during the winter climbing seasons.

This is hands-down the most comfortable cottage yet! A very handy location too. The cottage was warm and inviting with plenty of space and some great mod cons. We enjoyed the Aga and the open fire as well as the wonderful views of the weather coming in from the lounge windows. Jennifer, the owner, was also really helpful and friendly. Definitely coming again. 10/10.

What a fantastic cottage.

Perfect location. So quiet and some very pleasant walks from the front door. The cottage was great and very clean. Beds super comfy all the amenities you’d expect. Highly recommend this cottage.

A fantastic property with a great layout, in a wonderful countryside setting.

Beautiful inside and out. Very clean and spacious. The open fire and the AGA were a treat. Plenty wildlife around with deer visiting the adjoining fields and lots of small birds. The cottage is very well equipped, everything you could need in the kitchen and throughout. Location is perfect for seeing the stars, we were treated to the Milky Way and the Northern Lights the night we arrived. The Highland Wildlife Park is a short drive away, as are Aviemore, Grantown, etc. Highly recommend the Green Loch above Loch Morlich. We look forward to staying at Inshcraig again in the future!

Very cosy

Cottage was very clean, spacious, warm and comfortable.

The Aga was new to us and kept the place warm although in the summer can imagine it would make the property uncomfortably hot. Minor points were a washing machine tucked in the understairs cupboard - it would have been better in the kitchen, 3/4 blown light bulbs and bedding on one of the doubles was looking a little past it’s best. Overall we had a very enjoyable break and the points above would not stop us from returning. Very well located for Loch Insh water sports centre.

This is a nice amd private cottage, a place you can switch off from the world.

Something's need attention though. Bathroom fittings upstairs need attention. AGA creates far too much heat even with the doors and windows open, although probably comfortable in winter we did find it unbearable during the warm September week we stayed. Extra pillows would have been nice too.

So peaceful, beautiful cottage!

Even though we didn’t get to see the horse we really enjoyed all of the birds flying really close! There was a robin outside the ground floor bedroom most mornings! On our last evening we saw a family of 6 dear (2 grown and 4 babies) in the field that the horse is sometimes in! What a lovely surprise, it was so sweet! We visited the wildlife park which was fab! We went to Inverness as my sister was born there, we visited some friends and went on the Loch Ness ferry ride which was beautiful! (I got sunburned in Inverness! Crazy! Lol) Tesco and Aldi are very close by so meals were very simple to plan! We did get used to the Aga, being in the kitchen was so warm so that was a comfort in the evening! The the whole week was warm and sunny! I got to meet up in Pitlochry with a good friend that went to boarding school, for the first time in 26 years! All together we had the best time!!!

The cottage was amazing.

Clean, very user friendly and welcoming. There are 2 points worth noting. 1) the post code wont take you to the property if you're using a sat nav. 2) The nearest village/shop is 6 miles away which would be worth noting

The cottage is absolutely idyllic.

Plenty of areas to sit and relax, or in our case, give teenagers a living room of their own. Kitchen is packed with equipement to cook, bake and generally get to know the aga. I was worried about using the aga, but there were a number of books that gave practical tips for use and I am now a convert! The cottage is in a lovely quiet area with walks and cycle routes on the doorstep. Loch Insh watersports is just up the road and kept the teens happy. Great location to explore the area without being in the chaos that is Aviemore. Can't wait to come back.

Had a lovely week at Inshcraig, very quiet location, and everyday we enjoyed watching deer, hare, pheasant and buzzards in the next field.

Comfortable cottage, no problem cooking on the aga. Would have preferred an overhead shower in the upstairs bathroom, but this was a minor niggle as there are two shower rooms on ground floor. Great location for exploring the Cairngorms and beyond, would recommend anyone to stay here.

Excellent peaceful location, but still within easy reach of everything.

The cottage was lovely, comfortable, clean, warm and homely, the beds were comfortable and everything worked very well in the cottage.

The AGA in the kitchen cooked really well, in fact cooked meat better than our oven at home. The cottage was well situated for our trip to the Cairngorms which was wildlife focused, our stay was peaceful, quiet and private. The owner Jennifer was very helpful, so all in all lovely cottage and can highly recommend.

Lovely cottage great wrk away

A lovely, relaxing, peaceful, cosy cottage with some great views overlooking farmland with horses and deer towards pine filled hills.

Jennifer was a friendly whirlwind, we had a fabulous welcome, where she showed us how to use the Aga cooker and how to light the log fire. The cottage has some good amenities, like books, board games (with all the pieces!), candles and a great reading room with a music system. The cottage is ideally situated for exploring the Cairngorms, with lots of really nice walks direct from the cottage itself. We had a truly wonderful, relaxing time.

Exceeded expectations with cleanliness, facilities and location. The beds were really comfy, the showers were fantastic and the aga was fab to cook on. The views out of the back were beautiful and the short walk down to the loch was the icing on the cake. Exceptional value. Already planning our week back there for next year!

Superb location, very quiet but close enough to main connections.

We also liked the opportunities for nice walks right from the doorstep.The cottage is very well equipped and taken care of. At least for continentals like us the AGA stove was quite unusual but after a short while we got used to it.

We have been holidaying at this cottage off and on for forty years starting with the previous owners.

It is a firm favourite with three generations of the family. The owner takes very good care of the property and there are always new additions. The cottage is in a great area with lots of activities for all ages.

Lovely house, exceptionally warm due to aga but that would be great in the winter.

Unfortunately no instructions on how to use aga and dishwasher. We managed to find details on internet when we got there. Owner did visit on Sunday and explained about aga. Lots of aga cookbooks too. Wifi worked very well and instructions for TV. Good details about recycling etc. Lovely having the horses at the back, although one kept getting out and was up and down the side of house but still fenced in but not in his field. Luckily we are used to horses. Lovely views of deer and hares too.

Warm, comfortable and well equipped, this cottage is in a superb location.

Friendly horse in the adjacent field. Stags and hinds in the woods nearby. What more could you ask for? We had a, second, super week here and are already planning for next year.

The cottage was warm, clean, comfortable and well equipped.

The only quibbles we have are that a lot of the crockery was chipped, the frying pan was damaged (probably used on the Aga hot plate) and the lighting in the sitting area was not good for reading in the evening.

The cottage was very clean and comfortable and ideally situated for the Insh water sports centre, and Aviemore a short drive away.

Close to the Highland wildlife park, and a lovely fish and chip shop in Kingussie. The cottage itself is surrounded by wildlife, deer roaming the fields, Buzzards, Hares, and the Horse (Claude) who loved his carrots. A thoroughly enjoyable holiday in a wonderful part of Scotland.

Such a beautiful area and the cottage at the heart of it.

The listing does not mention the close proximity of other properties - although they are completely separate. The horses in the field at the back provided hours of enjoyment for our children. We saw red deer in the fields and migrating geese. It's a fantastic base for wildlife spotters.

Outstanding is the only word that can be used.

Overall, this was an exceptional holiday house.

We are familiar with the location so knew what we wanted to do on our holiday. The cottage was accessible, comfortable and spotless. Facilities were excellent and the cottage was furnished to a high standard. It is pleasing to see the way in which standards of self catering properties have improved over the years. We will probably consider this property for another holiday and will certainly use Sykes as our default site for property searches.

As wildlife photographers we loved the rural and remote setting of the cottage.

Found the cottage to be as described and very comfortable and well fitted out. Lucky that in November we had no bad weather - cold but bright and sunny in the main. Didn't rain until we left! Only slight criticism being that there was no welcome information pack listing emergency telephone numbers for doctors etc., which we have always had in previous holiday cottages. It would have been useful to have this information and also list of local amenities. However, there were lots of leaflets on places to visit etc., and having been in this area before found these very useful. Also had difficulty in contacting the owner by telephone and were informed this may have been due to very poor mobile signals where the cottage was situated. Found by trial and error outside the cottage that you could send/receive calls etc. Overall a lovely situated cottage and only real noise was the birds outside the windows!
