"Stayed here with a friend and our two dogs, and we were instantly charmed by both the cottage and its surroundings."
The location is peaceful and picturesque. Newtonmore itself is a lovely village, and we unexpectedly stumbled upon the Wildcat Experience, which added a fun twist to our stay. (We then knew what the strange cat ornament in our garden was all about).
The cottage is warm and welcoming. Comfortable beds, a well-equipped kitchen, and even throws for the sofa for the dogs, a small touch that made a big difference. It’s clear the owners have considered the needs of both two and four-legged guests.
A couple of practical notes: the lane leading up to the cottage is quite uneven and stony, so take it slow when you're driving. The garden is large and full of beautiful trees, lovely to look at, but not really secure for dogs. A small fenced-off area would have been ideal for those early morning and late-night toilet trips.
Overall, it was a delightful stay in a charming spot. Would happily return.

"A lovely, warm cottage which had everything we needed."
Clean & well-equipped. Great garden, particularly enjoyed by our dog, Rufus, and a deer one morning. Perfect location - either walk into the countryside or down into town from the cottage - and for walks & activities further afield.
Would certainly stay here again if heading up this way in future.
Hi Nicole, we’re glad you had a great stay in the Highlands. Rufus would have enjoyed all the nooks and crannies around the garden.

"The house was beautiful, warm and cosy and very well equipped."
The only niggle we had was the road immediately running up to the house was very difficult to drive on and has rather large rocks protruding which dented the front base of the car. Could do with resurfacing so it is more easily accessible to all, not just off road vehicles. Other than that we have had no issues, it was lovely and we will be booking again.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our week and found the property clean and comfortable."
It was a little difficult to find, but a new sign for the property we stayed in plus another new property was put up whilst we were there. It has beautiful scenery all around and is more or less secluded. The other new property is quite close but there is fencing which will enable guests to be separate while they enjoy the large garden.

"We had a really wonderful time staying at this beautiful accommodation."
It’s set in an idyllic location surrounded by trees and it was wonderful watching an array of birds species visiting the garden (we brought bird seed from Tesco's Aviemore) we even saw a red squirrel which was an amazing sight too behold and we were so happy we saw this iconic Scottish animal. There is also a lovely walk to go on not too far away from the property within a beautiful setting with many sheep. The property itself is very warm and cosy with all the amenity's you will need for your stay. It’s a little gem and we’re very glad we found it. We will be booking again very soon.

"This is obviously a very new cottage , furnished to a high standard with quality appliances in the kitchen."
Some of which could have benefited with the instruction leaflets. The last 100 yards of the approach road could do with an upgrade, otherwise we have no complaints and throughly enjoyed our stay.

"Its a really nice stay, beautiful location and all the amenities you need are there."
We especially loved the jacuzzi bathtub. We saw some reviews mentioning the building works but we had no inconveniences from this at all. The surrounding area is so peaceful and lovely to go for walks as well! I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing break.

"We had a lovely stay, there were deer in the garden."
We were not affected by the building works and will definitely return. The house was finished to a high standard. If you have children we would highly recommend a visit to the Newtonmore Alpacas it was a superb experience.

"The house was nice holiday was ok."
We expected to go to the middle of nowhere and have a peaceful holiday but they are building a new house adjoined to this one and workmen came every day at 8 am to start work on the house. Was expecting nice views from the windows but fences and building equipment all over the place at the back and vans parked right outside the bedroom window so had to keep blinds shut constantly so not much privacy. My dogs are very barky if they see people and folk walking by the windows (workmen) and random people coming to the door looking for the owner didn’t help wanting a peaceful time away from home. They also kept leaving the gate open and I have two dogs and there are sheep about and I was worried they were going to get the sheep that were wandering around the road.
The house it’s self was ok. There is a few faults that need fixing eg. The bath plug doesn’t open had to get the guy to come fix it and he used a knife to open it which we had to do to empty the water, the extractor fan in the en suit doesn’t work and drips and gets the floor all wet, the microwave crackles when you try to use it, the sinks in the bathrooms are wobbly. There isn’t a usable freezer in the house I ordered shopping to be delivered when we got there and there was only space for one bag of ice for drinks. Don’t buy anything that is freezable when ordering your shopping.
The house was pretty clean apart from the bath which needed a good scrubbing of the jets as they were embedded with grime and a few run through of water to clean the pipes was pretty filthy, black chunky bits eww. The air fryer was dirty so didn’t use that everything else was spot on.
Kitchen has all equipment you would need to make meals. Bed was super comfy. Garden is huge good for the dogs. It’s nicely decorated shame about all the problems.
Louise,
Thanks for your feedback on your stay @ Craig Dubh cottage. It will help us to give a better experience for future guests.
Each issue you have highlighted has been rectified. We have conducted a thorough review of cleaning and snagging procedure, to ensure this doesn't happen again.
It was a shame your husband didn't mention any of these issues to me when I visited the property on two occasions. I would 've taken immediate action to resolve all of the issues.
I'm sorry that this has happen. We want everyone visiting us to have a great experience. To this end, I invite you to contact me directly to discuss another visit for a few days, at my cost. Cheers Ewan.

""Thank you for sharing your property in lovely surroundings and a great location."
We had everything we needed in the property for a comfortable stay. There were a few building works ongoing that we would have liked to have been aware of, but as we were out and about daily they didn't really bother us(this would not have been the case if we were planning to get up late in the morning -building work started at 8 am - or staying in the property during the day) Once again a beautiful property in the heart of the hills!

"It's a lovely cottage but the pictures of the cottage were misleading as it's basically a building site."
The photos on the website do not show another property is being built adjourning the cottage. Also, there was no information pack in the cottage for things like recycling etc
