  • "Another great holiday in the beautiful and cosy Inverewe House Apartment, enjoying the beauty of the gardens and nearby sights, beaches and cafes."

The house was perfect for our three generation family holiday. We hope to return again soon!

  • "A beautiful property in a wonderful location."

All the peace and tranquility you could wish for. My wife and I chose well for our anniversary. Only negatives were the wi-fi was not compatible with Sky Go and the water for the morning showers did not remain hot enough for long enough.

Thank you for your feedback and we have noted the comment about the hot water. We did have our IT Dept and internet provider check the wifi in the apartment and it was working. We do not know why your Sky app wouldn't work. Property Owner

  • "Great property all round!"

Really well stocked, interesting & historical apartment. Jacqui, who met us, gave us a really nice welcome and fully briefed us on all aspects of the property. She had also arranged fresh flowers, some provisions (including sample of local whisky & gin!). Excellent location and being in the Inverewe Scottish National Trust property and gardens, we had 24hr access to the beautiful large gardens and woodland on the shores of Loch Ewe. We had these to ourselves from 5pm ish to 10am each day - great for early morning and after dinner walks. Beautiful area - It also helped to have amazing unseasonal sunny and warm weather

  • "We really enjoyed our stay in the Inverewe apartment, which is a beautiful place."

The place was spotlessly clean throughout and Jackie was very welcoming. Also nice to have the starter pack of food and drink that was much appreciated after a long drive. Having access to the gardens was great and they're as gorgeous and interesting as ever. Absolutely nothing to complain about and we'll definitely be back at some point.

  • "Almost perfect!"

The apartment is a wonderful place to spend a holiday. It is spacious, clean, comfortable and very well equipped. The little extras also helped make life a little easier. The ‘welcome basket’ containing bread and milk is a nice touch, as are the fresh flowers and fruit bowl. It is certainly a peaceful place. The freedom of being able to roam around the gardens in the evening is one of the things that we enjoy most. In fact we really didn’t travel far from the gardens throughout the week. We enjoyed watching the wildlife, from the friendly robins to the herons and their young down near the jetty but the stars were the pine martens, who visited every evening. The only downside side to the apartment is that it is becoming very popular and it is getting harder to book our return visits!

Many thanks for your feedback. It is in a super location. We are hoping to start taking bookings for another cottage in the garden at the end of 2024. Property Owner

It's spacious, clean and well maintained, with everything you could need provided, and is set in one of the most stunning gardens we've ever visited. Having them practically to ourselves out of hours was an amazing privilege. The NTS staff team are friendly and welcoming, and there was a lovely selection of local products to try on arrival. The local area has so much to see and explore. We can't wait to return!

Many thanks for your lovely comments and we look forward to welcoming you back to Inverewe Gardens. Property Owner

The apartment exceeded our expectations. The welcome pack was useful. Weather was good and lovely ever changing views from the apartment windows. The gardens were glorious and it was great to be able to wander around these in our own time. The NTS staff were friendly and helpful and we would particularly like to thank Jackie Chester.

We spent a wonderful 3 weeks there and were very comfortable. We have been going for years and this was our first experience in the apartment which we enjoyed immensely. Douglas, visitor services manager, Willie maintenance, Liz and all the staff are a great team, providing a welcoming and superb service. Kevin and all his garden team do a magnificent job in the garden, we appreciate all their work. We love our annual holiday there and look forward to going back next year.

  • "We had a wonderful week (2 adults and a 3 year old) in the House Apartment, having stayed twice previously in the Garden Lodge."

We return because we love visiting the garden and wider area, and it was great to stay elsewhere in the grounds for a change. The apartment is well set up, attractive and comfortable, with a friendly welcome from the team and a lovely taster tray of local treats. There is lots of info on the history of the garden, house and region for those interested in that side of things, and also plenty of up to date local info which helped us learn about events and facilities. The garden staff were always really happy to answer any questions or provide suggestions as to what we could do or where we could buy particular things locally. The central location within the grounds was great for garden adventures at all hours, particularly with having a pre-schooler and pregnant woman in the group, and the ability to bring our car to the house out-of-hours for arrival and departure made loading and unloading our luggage really easy. Although the property is on the first floor the shallow and wide stairs were easy to climb. We'll be back soon to stay in one property or the other in the Inverewe NTS Garden - it's now most definitely our family's favourite place to visit!

  • "The property was exceptional: the views of the garden and loch, the quality and comfort of the furniture, the high standard of the kitchen and its numerous appliances and the beautiful finish of the wooden floors."

The welcome on our arrival was warm and thorough and we knew we could always ask staff at the shop or cafe for help and advice on walks and local facilities. We loved exploring the gardens and chatting to the gardeners and .we enjoyed the boat trip around the loch. We hope that before too long there will be a charging point for electric cars on site but we had no problems finding charging points nearby. In conclusion, I don’t think there could be a more perfect property.

  • "Wow, this was an amazing stay."

The apartment is in the middle of the gardens but you can unload the car before taking to the designated parking spot. The thoughtfulness of the welcome package was so nice - Inverewe gin and whisky. Entering and leaving the gardens for day trips was easy and all the national trust staff were happy to chat. Boat trip from the garden was great. But having the gardens once all the visitors had gone was magical. Cuddy Rock sunsets, quiet moments in the stunning borders and walks.

Thank you so much for the great review. It is a great place to just chill out in the evening by the rocks, watching what ever passes by in the sea. We hope to welcome you back. Property Owner

  • "As we have visited, and stayed at, Inverewe before we were really looking forward to our first stay at the apartment at Inverewe House."

It certainly didn’t disappoint. Everything from meeting Jackie at the gates, her tour of the house and her stories of the house and the area set us up for a lovely holiday experience. The apartment itself is lovely. Lots of space and the views are exceptional. The thoughtful welcome pack was much appreciated and the lovely fresh flowers made the place very much like home. It is a very tranquil place. Even although it is in the centre of the gardens you don’t really notice the visitors, and once they are all gone in the evening you have the whole garden to yourselves. Plenty of wildlife around and we were lucky enough see one of the pine martens on several occasions. That really made the holiday perfect for me! Will hopefully be back for another stay soon.

We loved staying right in the middle of the beautiful gardens with views over Poolewe and the mountains beyond. We especially enjoyed the fact that once the gardens were closed for the day we were able to wander around and enjoy the peace and beauty of this very special place. The apartment was perfect and we had everything we needed, high quality furnishings and fittings ensured we were very comfortable, lovely sofa's, comfy beds, huge fluffy towels . We appreciated the thought that had gone into the extra little touches including the vases of fresh flowers and the welcome pack. The Inverewe Gardens and Estate team were so friendly and helpful and clearly very proud of the work they are involved in. We loved every minute of our time in the apartment and the surrounding area. So many epic beaches, mountain walks, swim, bike, kayak, SUP opportunities. We also enjoyed the coffee stops, great food and local museums, including onsite! What a privilege to have the opportunity to spend a week in such a beautiful piece of history. This is a true gem of a holiday location.

The property

Resting on the outskirts of the pretty village of Poolewe, Scottish Highlands, on the grounds of the world-famous National Trust for Scotland Inverewe Garden and Estate, is this spacious first-floor apartment, Inverewe House Apartment.

Enjoying a superb location within the manor house, built in the 1937 and surrounded by 2000-acres of wildlife rich grounds, with stunning views overlooking Loch Ewe, Inverewe House Apartment is a fantastic family-friendly choice for couples or a family of up to six, plus their two canine companions.

The garden was created by Osgood Mackenzie, who built one of Scotland’s most popular botanical attractions from bare rock and scrub willows and is now filled with an array of colourful plants from around the world from New Zealand to Tasmania and China, resulting in a tropical paradise.

As well as the garden which Osgood spent his life dedicated to developing, he also built an original Scottish baronial-style house, which was destroyed by a fire and later rebuilt by Osgood’s daughter Mairi and her husband, Ronald, edging away from the Scottish baronial-style and instead, a more art-deco style specked with Dutch Colonial features.

Inverewe House Apartment can be found on the first floor of the house, where you will find a well-equipped and contemporary kitchen/diner, here you can rustle up tasty dishes ready to enjoy at the dining table for six over a bottle of celebratory fizz.

After dinner, retire to the sitting room where you can relax on the plush seating as you recount the day's adventures with picturesque views of Loch Ewe on offer.

Continue through to find a well-appointed bathroom, complete with bath and walk-in shower for freshening up at the end of the day, along with three beautifully decorated bedrooms, two king-size, one with en-suite bathroom, and a twin, all of which enjoy lovely views over the garden and out to Loch Ewe.

In the morning, you can explore the expansive grounds, where you will find plenty of seating, dining areas, a café, an abundance of plant and wildlife, and nature trails, including the Pinewood Trail and the Kernsary Path.

On the ground-floor of the manor house, you can enjoy tours of the museum and an art gallery, where Osgood’s daughter Mairi’s original furnishings and possessions remain.

Poolewe is where you will find all of your local amenities, including a well-stocked village store, the Bridge Cottage Café & Sourdough Bakery, a Post Office, Pool House Historic Home, and the delightful Poolewe Tuesday Market, where you can meet the locals and purchase local goods.

For those who fancy taking to the waters, boat trips are offered from the famous Inverewe Gardens where you can spot the local marine life and learn more about your surroundings.

For further amenities, make the drive over to Gairloch, home to a farm shop, the Gairloch Museum, and beautiful beach, the cafes of Am Bard, Black Pearl Creole Kitchen, and The Mountain Coffee, a Chinese and fish and chip takeaway and The Shieling.

If you want to explore more of the National Trust for Scotland’s spectacular offerings, visit the majestic mountain landscapes of Torridon, where you can spot otters in the loch and red deer on the hillsides of at the Deer Enclosure and Museum, Corrieshalloch Gorge, with breath-taking views of the Measach Falls and woodland trails, and the awe-inspiring Balmacara Estate, home to a plethora of wildlife, including Highland cattle, squirrels and dragonflies, walking trails, and the exceptional Scotland Rainforest.
