Taffs Barn

A great property in a wonderful area.

We really liked the layout, and had a relaxing, and rejuvenating stay here. It's a well equipped, property with a wonderful upstairs living space leading onto a covered balcony with countryside views. We watched martins, buzzards, and red kites, (and local crows, cows and sheep) from here. Downstairs you can also head outside from the kitchen/ dining space onto a space with furniture where you can dine outside if you wish. The upstairs and downstairs bathrooms are a bonus. There's lots to do in the local area. You are close to a B - road (but there is little traffic noise), around 5-10 minutes drive to Rosemarkie and Fortrose. There are bus services that stop in Rosemarkie, but would recommend a car or bike to get around. There isn't a local footpath to Rosemarkie, although you could walk some distance down the road, and then pick up a local path. Rosemarkie has wonderful woodland (small glen with waterfalls), and, coastal walks, and, beach side cafes. The beach is great too. There is a small Pictish museum which we didn't get time to visit. Fortrose has a decent small co-op supermarket, interesting historic remains of a cathedral and a fantastic bakery. If you are staying at the right time of year (as we were) you have a good chance of seeing dolphins off nearby Chanonry point.

The property was spacious and well furnished and with quality equipment.

One or two minor niggles: hot water not reliable in en suite, very creaky floorboards upstairs and staircase. Lovely sponge cake on arrival! Great location.

What a lovely place, great accommodation, but more importantly to us Pat and Eddy, were brilliant and couldn't have been more helpful or better hosts.

Thank you both for such a great stay, and your help with the van. (our thanks to our neighbours for the week too).

Taff's barn was perfect for our stay.

With two bedrooms with equal sized beds and two bathrooms it was perfect for two couples. Very comfortable. Having the well equipped kitchen made it easy for us to cook all of our meals and with the comfortable living room and smart TV it was great to relax after a day exploring. Our host was extremely welcoming and friendly and on arrival there was a delicious Victoria sponge cake. So lovely. We would recommend staying here.

The cottage was everything we wanted and needed after a long day sightseeing.

Pat was lovely and so was the wonderful cake she left us. Very comfortable and homely and in a beautiful spot, very quiet and tranquil.

Really enjoyed our stay and where it was situated, but downside was it wasn't suitable for going walks as no pavement and it was a slightly busy road.

Everything was catered for and our host was excellent and made us a lovely big welcoming cake and brought in a vase of flowers. Great for touring to near by places. My only fault with it was the pillows were too flat and the sofa and chair was not comfortable for me.just needs tweaks here and there but lovely cottage, hope we can return again some time.

Taffs Barn is absolutely lovely.

It is in an idyllic spot, so the upstairs balcony for morning coffee is divine, as is the patio off the kitchen. The house was absolutely spotless and came with the biggest home made Victoria sponge cake I've ever seen! It is also an incredibly spacious place with two massive bathrooms to die for! And a well equipped kitchen to boot. For us in particular the real bonus was two double beds. We travel as sisters and so many places the second bedroom is twin beds, meaning one of us has to compromise (or sulk!) Taff's is great, two double beds, two bathrooms, no arguments. Plenty to do round and about - loved it!
