"We had a lovely stay at Bogindour cottage in a lovely location."
We don't really agree with complaints about noise as you barely hear it when windows are shut. However, we did find that the cleanliness was quite poor. Understandably this is a major focused pet cottage but the amount of pet hair was just overwhelming and took a few days to get rid of it all. We were offered a mid stay clean but this was on the 13th day of our 17 day stay. Its such a shame that it seems the place has been left neglected in parts especially in the garden. We arrived to the front lawn mowed but the chairs were not even pulled off and just mowed around and nobody had touched the back area of the cottage by the washing line and plenty of cigarette ends discarded around the property outside and in the burner outside.
On the whole great location, great cottage but let down by the cleanliness and tired garden area.
Points to note, very tight for two cars. Telly is not worth using as it is extremely small and although the water is hot it does not full the bath only half way and then is off for a few hours. Showers only.
A great story of what the couple have done to restore the place and we are sure it was an amazing home. However a little TLC would go a long way in changeovers.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the property and were very impressed with the house overall."
It was well-maintained, comfortable, spacious, and provided a welcoming atmosphere throughout our visit. The facilities were excellent, and the property was equipped with everything needed for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
As a constructive suggestion, we would recommend considering an upgrade to the television. While it was functional, we felt that a larger screen would enhance the overall guest experience, particularly for families or groups spending time together in the living area.

"A beautiful cottage."
No Constant hot water which isn't great .could only run a shallow bath or have a 4 min shower.. bathroom incredibly cold. Dog hairs in the bed and hoover didn't work... if these issues were made right I would defo be back

"This cottage is a lovely stay!"
It is close to the rod soa but noisy outside (this is made clear in property information prior to booking) but inside it is a lot more peaceful. We were surprised how little we could hear the noise. It is a clean, cosy cottage with all the essentials and the bed was really comfy. Perfect location for travelling around with close proximity to walks and amenities. Dog friendly and had dog beds, bowls and toys available which was a nice touch. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return one day!

"Our stay at this cottage was marred by issues with the supply of hot water."
We were a family of four and it's important for us all to wash everyday, but there was only sufficient hot water for one of us to have a very shallow bath morning or night. We never had hot water in the shower. We tried to resolve it during our stay, but there was no urgency to respond and once the obvious things werre explored no effort to further resolve. Upon telling the owners about the issue, they are trying to say it is our fault or we are lying. It's a horrible experience. Not worth taking the risk with this property I am afraid, their heart is not in the right place if anything goes wrong.

"Hi really enjoyed my stay it had everything needed including mice not a problem though it’s in the country so to be expected."
Could do with the gate making a bit wider as it was a struggle to get a day van in . Would definitely recommend it and hopefully stay there again my self some day. Great Dave

"The cottage could be lovely however the garden is very unkempt and looks abandonned."
Not a good first impression when you arrive after driving all day. The lawn wasn't mowed, flower pots growing weeds, terrace area with weeds and bricks lying about and not very inviting.
The cleanliness is just about ok: we had to clean some plates and glasses, the fridge is not clean and we found some stuff from previous guests in the freezer ( which we left )
The central heating ( only 2 radiators= one in the utility room and one in the sitting room) is on timer to which you have no control : when I contacted the owner to query about it I was told the heating would come on at 5pm. It didn't but came about 3am and stayed on for several days with no stopping . We tried to switch it off at the sockets but it kept going. There is no heating in the bathroom unless you fire the kitchen range on (which means purchasing vast quantity of wood )We were told that the towel rail radiator in the bathroom could only be on if the wood stove in the sitting room was lit ( so we bought some wood to do so ) : in fact we had the fire on several evenings but still no heating in the bathroom ( hence we concluded that the radiator in the bathroom was linked to the range in the kitchen). We ended up moving one of the plug in electric radiators .
The bedrooms are lovely , spacious and comfortable with plug in radiators.
Overall , the cottage and garden need some TLC. We were lucky enough to have a couple of days of good weather and there was no where in the garden to sit and have a drink except for a sad looking bench. When the weather turned ( lots of rain and quite cold which you would expect in Scotland) the heating malarckey went on.
I paid more that £611 for a week in June and would expect much better than what was delivered.

"A delightful cottage, really cosy with lots of traditional elements."
Loved the log burners and the beautiful roll-top bath. Nice touches with the welcome pack, doggy friendly treats and the history of the cottage and area. We all really enjoyed our escape: children, teenagers, adults and our dog and will definitely be visiting again. Highly recommend this cottage for an escape to the countryside. The birdsong and sheep at the window just made it perfect for us. Thank you

"Fantastic cottage."
Not the owners fault but every plate, dish or spoon we took out the cupboard needed washed first, they were all quite dirty. Not enough utensils for cooking, I had to buy a wooden spoon and whisk and a tray to make lasagne in, tongs would be good. We like cooking. Beautifully decorated and a lovely warm stove. Great location and very helpful owner. Would come again.

"Arrived Saturday and left on the Sunday due to mice that ate through the bread packaging and into the bread, the crumbs all over inside the bread bin."
. so i got in touch with the owner myself, no compensation after the amount of money paid. Spoke to the housekeeper who said he thought Dave got rid of them.certainly won,t be booking through Sykes again..Mr A G Paterson.

"Bogindour Cottage is the most welcoming to dogs property that we have ever stayed in."
The dog bed in the bedroom made it clear that the owner had no issue with dogs being upstairs, which was a relief for us dog owners, who have a dog who is used to being allowed to go anywhere at home. We used throws, but didn't need to worry about her being where she shouldn't be, like we usually do on holiday.

"Lovely cottage and great location for what we wanted to do."
Very well equipped and lots of thought put into essential everyday items. Welcome pack was much appreciated. Owner does state gardens are enclosed but not secure for dogs , would have loved to let our dog run free in garden but he is a bit of an escape specialist. Would definitely stay here again though.

It's a beautiful cottage; cosy, warm, characterful, well appointed and lovingly furnished. And so dog friendly. The owners have done a great job with the renovations. Well located for many walks and beaches; highly recommended.

"We absolutely love Bogindour Cottage."
This was our second stay here and we are already thinking about when we can have our third. Bogindour is always beautifully presented on arrival and the welcome pack is very much appreciated after a day long journey to get there. The local manager Jacquie couldn't be more friendly, helpful and knowledgable. Our sons love Bogindour and have started learning chess after discovering the wooden chess set in the kitchen on our first visit. This is something they have kept up and was the first thing they wanted to do on our second visit. Perhaps most importantly though is that our 3 year old collie Kuri absolutely loves Bogindour. From the moment we first arrived, she was so happy, bouncing about, tail high in the air. She always has a great time and if she's so happh and at ease then we know that it is a great place to be. We can't wait to come back.

"Bogindour cottage is a lovely well kept holiday cottage, we had a lovely 3 day stay and my only gripe is that we did not have longer in Bogindour as 3 days is not enough time for visiting the lovely beaches and places of interest like Fort George ,not to mention the great golf courses ."

"A genuinely dog friendly cottage, with dog mats, toys, goodies and other essentials."
Our dog did not know which toy to play with first. Enough quirkiness in the heating and cooking systems to keep the grown ups occupied. Well located for Inverness, Black Isle, airport, walks and cycle rides. Would love to come up again

"We loved our time at Bogindour, we only wish it could have been longer!"
It's a beautiful home and very well thought out, especially for its four legged guests. Our dog was happy and relaxed from the moment we arrived and that tells us a lot about the place! The listing mentions possible road noise from the nearby A9, but we found that it wasn't really noticeable from inside the house. It was fascinating to read through the book which shows all the work the owners have done to the house over the last few years, and the care and attention really shines through once inside...and the heat from the kitchen range is amazing through the whole house! We had the perfect short break and we can't wait until our next visit to Bogindour!
