Woodland Villa

Beyond Paradise, is how I would describe our accommodation at Woodland Villa and Oban and the surrounding area.

Woodland Villa is spacious and has excellent facilities. Oban and district are stunningly beautiful. The view from Macraigs Tower will confirm this.

A very clean, well equipped house.

We had a wonderful stay at Woodland Villa, the property was so clean and had everything we needed and more.

The owners were really helpful too. We will definitely return!

Woodland Villa is one of the very best holiday homes that we have ever stayed in.

Beautiful location, very clean and comfortable. Woodland Villa is within walking distance of Oban town centre and all the amenities there. The owners are so friendly and helpful too.

Woodland Villa was one of the cleanest properties that we have stayed in over the last decade, and this was much appreciated.

There is lots of space within the property (we had 5 people staying), and this made the visit relaxed compared to being in a more compact property. The property is tucked away, with off-site parking for 2(+?) cars, which was great for us. Handily, you can get to the property from the east, which means that you can avoid the town centre queues at busy times. As the property is 5 to 10 mins walk from Oban centre it is very quiet at night (a good thing for us). Some families may find the downhill/uphill to the town centre difficult, but we really enjoyed this aspect of the property as the walk into town had great views.

Loved the house and its location; it was perfect for our group of 6 adults (and 3 cars).

We were v comfy at the villa, and enjoyed the facilities as it is well equipped, per the description.

The house is very spacious, spotlessly clean, nicely secluded and quiet, but just a short walk into Oban town centre. Our host, Julie, was super lovely and helpful and we would highly recommend a stay here!

There is literally everything you could possibly need here, and it's so nice to come somewhere where they've provided hand soap, and some oil, kitchen roll etc. The front room was our favourite part of the house with the fire on at night and plenty of space for everyone. It's a really spacious property with lovely big windows, cosy lighting and a feeling of being in the middle of nowhere. Can also attest to hide and seek being great fun here! If you're unsure whether to book, definitely do! Oban is a fab place with so much just down the road, and the ferries are close for visiting any Islands. We've had an absolute whale of a time and we'd not hesitate to book again. Thank you so much for a great holiday

We loved our 2 week stay at Woodland Villa.

It has everything and more... than you would ever need for your stay here. So peaceful and relaxing. It is very handy for the town and ferries. We always used our car due to mobility issues and never had any problemss parking in the town. Julie and Dougie are just a call away if needed. Thankyou to you both

What a beautiful house, well equipped and so close to the town centre.

Beds were comfortable and plenty of storage in the rooms. Thanks for a lovely week, we enjoyed ourselves so much.

This is a lovely home.

It is bright, spacious, spotlessly clean and well equipped with all modern amenities. The oiled fired central heating keeps the property warm and cosy and is separate from the wood burning stove. Thus you do not need to use the stove if you are unfamiliar with them or do not need it. The beds, sofas and chairs are comfortable. It is right in the centre of Oban but bear in mind a steep downhill walk of 10 minutes into town and a steep 25 minutes to get back. Very well positioned for days out and loads to do in the area. Had a lovely holiday.

Terrific cottage,plenty of room but very cosy at the same time.

The owners are near at hand and couldn't be more helpful. Very quiet and peaceful, yet only 5 minutes from the town.

I came with my wife/daughter and her two girls we could not have enjoyed it more .

Great property for a family holiday.

Located at the top of the hill near Mcraig’s tower and only a short walk down to the town centre. Private location and very quiet.

The villa is well equipped and spacious and set in a very quiet part of Oban.

The microwave in the property was too complicated to use - even the owner couldn't get it to work or provide the instruction booklet.

The owner supplied a basic microwave (same day) which was the perfect solution. The property was immaculately clean and was very spacious. The location was very quiet but only a few minutes from the centre of Oban.

Cottage spot on except for temperature knob on big oven loose couldn't judge cooking time well.

Set in a great place for oban and surrounding area's.would have been nice for some complementary milk so we could have had a hot dink straight away after long drive there.All in all a relaxing week would stay again Jayne ray dorothy and melvyn From sheffield

Lovely und quite house.

The owner was really friendly and my family and I would love to come back. There is a special atmosphere in the cottage, perfect to enjoy the holidays. There is so much space that I had my own room to do Yoga.

Woodland Cottage.

A very comfortable quiet hidden gem,close to the vibrant town centre of Oban & beyond,plus a warm welcome from Mrs MacNeil,the lucky owner,really makes one feel at home.

We had a family gathering off six adults staying for a week at Woodland Villa.

It is a lovely large house which was very clean and well equipped. The three bedrooms are very spacious and all the beds we found very comfortable. Lovely powerful showers in all the bathrooms too. The only minor problem was the main oven control was a little loose so not easy to know whether the temperature set was quite right. It’s in a great location with a path at the end of the drive that takes you downhill to the town. It’s only a few minutes walk from McCaigs Tower which has stunning views over Oban. I would definitely stay again.

A very comfortable and well equipped house in a quiet location with plenty of parking.

The owners live next door and were very helpful if we had any any questions about the property or the area It is about 10 min walk into the centre of Oban though probably 15 min on the way back as it up a significant hill (about 70 m of climb)

We rented Woodlands as a couple as we like lots of space.

The cottage has everything thing you may want for a relaxing stay. Just a short walk into town, it is well located to tour the islands. We would fully recommend the walks around Kerrera and Lismore. For those with mobility issues do note the cottage is up a hill. The broadband was reliable and worked well.

We didn't use every room as just two of us!

Generally speaking, no real issues (clean bedding, cutlery, towels, etc), but being picky, the kitchen paintwork around the cooker and sink needs attention and there is general decor wear and tear in the hall/stairs. The ensuite shower needs re-sealing as is now discoloured. The kitchen table is badly marked and the chairs are faded. Appreciate not all guests look after a holiday let as they should, so it's difficult to keep on top of jobs! Still a good place to stay and the kitchen and lounge were pleasantly light and bright. We saw red squirrels in the garden and deer up the road; Oban was a lovely break; the scenery is spectacular, there is everything you need in town and the weather was kind.

This is our 2nd stay at woodland villa, we are a family of 4 with two young children.

We loved our stay again, the villa itself is very spacious, clean, had no complaints at all. The area is amazing too, we love Oban, there's so much to do in the surrounding areas also. Highly recommend

A beautiful cottage and everything was perfect.

Yes it was hilly walking into Oban (10 minute walk) but it was all downhill. A taxi back is a fiver (plus if you like to tip). Woodland Villa is honestly faultless. My husband and I had a wonderful time just chilling away from hustle & bustle of work. Peaceful, quiet location. Lots of parking space if you want to take the car into Oban or take the ferry literally a 2 minute drive. We would highly recommend this lovely cottage that has everything you need for a perfect tranquil stay. Thank You so much.

Just got back from a lovely week in Oban at a beautiful house, really well laid out and perfect for a family of 4, we had a couple of rainy days but it didn’t matter as there was plenty of films etc to keep us going.

While it’s a bit of a hike to the town centre it’s easily manageable although it’s a bit of a climb The heating is on a timer which is perfect as it’s warm in the morning and cozy in the evening, the fire in the lounge kicks out some amazing amount of heat I would recommend this property to all

We had looked at several holiday properties, but all with on road parking, which was far from ideal.

So when we saw this one with off road parking it sealed the deal. It was perhaps too big for our needs as there was only two of us. But it felt quite decadent! The property was well equipped, very comfortable, spacious and with a powerful shower(s) to wake you up in the morning. The immediate area was quiet and peaceful, with only a short walk down into the hustle and bustle of Oban town. If you enjoy outdoor pursuits, then Oban is a great base. If you are a fish lover, then you will be spoilt for choice with the local restaurants. All in all we enjoyed a great holiday, blessed with fine sunny weather and the property was a great find!

We love this property.

It’s very roomy, very clean, has a huge driveway, owner is very approachable and friendly. This was our 3rd visit. Will definitely be back.

We were a small group of 3 and this house had enough space for a larger group.

Lovely and clean and a very well equipped kitchen.

The only thing we could think to say, is maybe a tumble dryer would be an added benefit to the property.

Otherwise a super holiday rental.

this was my 2020 holiday booking where for 2020 and 2021 Sykes chose not to refund my payment but instead added a handling fee each year.

there is a facebook group, specifically around Sykes and the many other names they operate. Hopefully you will not survive the economic downturn. Property was amazing. Location was equally amazing. Owner of the property was also exceedingly nice.

Several of the crockery pieces were chipped, with white plates being heavily marked / veined.

Neither of which should have been in service. My overall impression of the property is that it is in need of a complete freshen up as it was tired looking. Nothing a good lick of paint and some new crockery wouldn’t sort out. The cleanliness was on point. What a great base for touring though.

Such a lovely property in a good location.

Just back from our week at Woodland Villa and we both thought it was wonderful. The bedrooms are spacious and tastefully decorated, the bathrooms were lovely, the kitchen well equipped with everything you could need. We just loved it, so spacious and airy. We often rate places we rent by the size and quality of their towels and we weren't disappointed here. Ample towels of a good size and quality. This is a great find and I'd highly recommend it.

We stayed here with our 3 year and 1 year old children and had the best week.

The house was amazing, plenty of room for the kids to play around in, amazing location, Oban is a short walk all away and is such a lovely town with lots of lovely places to eat (our favourite being gourmet burger on the town front). We didn't want to leave, we loved it so much we have booked to come again. Thank you Julie for such an amazing stay, any issues we had you came straight around to solve. Couldn't reccommend this cottage enough

The property was very clean and very well equiped. The kitchen equipment is modern and easy to use. It is a short walk down into the town of Oban with its excellent ammenties and a Ferry Terminal to the Islands. It was an absolute pleasure to stay at this property and we would like to thank Mrs McNeil for ensuring our stay was so pleasurable. I strongly recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a comfortable, fully equiped and well positioned location in this area.

The house was very spacious and very handy for the centre of Oban.

Unfortunately the bed in the main bedroom was too hard which made it difficult to sleep.

Brilliant accommodation

The cottage was lovely with loads of space and all mod cons.

We really enjoyed our stay. Really quiet and peaceful location with easy access to Oban itself and the beautiful surrounding area. Only slight disappointment was lack of views, but that was probably down to us not reading the description properly. We have used Sykes for many years and have never been disappointed with their service. We'll be looking for next year's holiday soon!

Lovely cottage in Oban, just a short walk from town centre.

Cottage was larger than we thought, very roomy but very comfortable and quiet, peaceful surroundings. Just a, few things needed some attention, i e the door handle did not shut the doors securely, and the main oven did not work in the cooker. Having said that we had a lovely time.

It is clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you could need if you are self catering. I can highly recommend it .

Nice cottage up the top of Oban.

10minute walk sees you in middle of town for restaurants. Stay would be ideal in the summer as using the conservatory not ideal in winter as it is quite cold. Very clean. Some restaurant recommendations from the owners would be a good addition to the welcome manual.

We had a great break at the villa.

Six of us stayed in here. Villa was immaculate with plenty of space for us all. The owner was lovely and very helpful and welcoming. As we all love oban this was an extra bonus for us. Would think about booking this villa in the future.

The villa had everything we needed for our short break.

It is very spacious but the lounge has a wood burner that makes it very cozy. We even had a regular visitor - a red squirrel.

The house is far bigger than described which is lovely.

The location is very central and easy to explore Oban from. We thought the master bed was too hard which was disappointing and really quite uncomfortable.

Mrs McNeil came over to ensure we were not cold and showed how to turn on the heating as first day was very wet. However we didn't need to bother her at all following that visit.Details for Woodland Villa were spot on and the whole property was very spacious and contained all the facilities we required plus some more! We didn't use the outside space as it was rather shady and we preferred to go into Oban itself. Our cousins who were to join us didn't in the end so the Villa was more than we needed. It would be good to have greater flexibility to change accommodation especially if it is well in advance of the date. The extra cost seemed excessive.

An excellent place to stay just above Oban, loads of space in the house, private parking (which is very unusual in Oban), comfortable, very well equipped and very helpful owners.

Beautiful, well appointed house which was spotlessly clean.

The house was very large and would easily accommodate 6 people, with 3 full bathrooms. It was very convenient for getting into Oban- there is a path down into town right next to the house which took about 15 minutes, walking back is all uphill, but if you a reasonably fit it is not an issue. Lovely part of the world, beautiful scenery, we even saw deer ( mum and two babies) walking in the greenery on the slope at the back of the house. The walk to McCaigs tower is just a few minutes walk away.

A very comfortable, well-equipped house which was in an ideal position for exploring Oban and surrounding area. Everything seemed to have been thought of to make our stay as pleasant as possible. If I had a minor quibble it was a lack of medium sized saucepans with lids but otherwise a superb kitchen. Some more garden chairs would be useful as there was only one chair plus a combined picnic table/bench.

We were all delighted with the property.

It was very comfortable and we all felt so at home. There was lots of kitchen utensils etc that you could cook no problem.

I have visited Oban many times and was not able to discern the properties exact position from the published information.

The property does not have any coastal view. However the property is outstanding and makes up for any short comings by way of lack of view. It is a very peaceful position. We all enjoyed our holiday very much.

A large, comfortable house in a very quiet area of Oban, within easy reach of the centre (some gradients to keep the heart healthy).

We enjoyed our stay here. Oban is also a great centre for exploring the surrounding areas as far as the Crinan Canal and Glencoe.

A hidden jewel.

The house was was very comfortable and spacious and we all enjoyed staying there.

It is only a 10-15 min walk into the town centre however it is a steep climb walking back up. The kitchen was generally well equipped but could do with a few more implements especially a large mixing bowl and a frying slice

Accommodation is excellent, with lots of extra little touches to make visitors feel at home.

We found Sykes holidays a very professional company who made booking straightforward. Oban is a lovely place with lots to do.

Family members met at Woodland Villa from all around the world to celebrate a 'Big' birthday.

The house was perfect for we 6 adults with more than everything we needed in a beautiful setting in a fabulous area of Scotland. We had not expected the standards of comfort and luxury that we experienced.

Our holiday was the best self catering we have been in.

Description was to a tee, location was perfect for a 17min walk into town, although steep roads , maybe not suitable if anyone has walking difficulties. All facilities were great, especially the wood burner, used it every night. Comfortable clean and quiet. Can not fault it at all. Oban is a lovely place , friendly people plenty to do, restaurants and eating places were really nice, and lovely seafood. Will certainly return.

This Woodland Villa is a wonderful idyllic hideaway built among the hilltops & surrounded by trees sitting on the hillside overlooking Oban, it has everything and more for a comfortable stay.

Plenty of things to do, lots of coach trips to the local areas and ferries over to the islands sitting to the west of this coastline, we enjoyed our week visiting this picturesque part of the Scottish highlands and would love to return in the future.

Just a few small points.

.....not enough mugs.also need sharp chopping knives, more plastic or wooden utensils to use on the pans, large serving ladles. Everything else was brilliant

An excellent property.

We enjoyed our week at Woodland Villa very much. Some minor repairs needed were to the bathroom door locks which did not work and a couple of the toilet flush mechanisms needed attention but that was all.
