Burnside Cottage is like home from home, there is everything you need there,everything was spotlessly clean and welcoming as soon as you stepped in,it’s the best cottage we have stayed in.

It was warm and cosy with comfortable chairs to sit in and enjoy the great views out of the windows across the loch. we would recommend this cottage to everyone, We loved our time here, Julian and Susan

This place was amazing !

All the luxury comforts you would expect in a 5⭐️ hotel ,but this was a self catering cottage .Everything you could have ever needed on your holiday this place had it all .Luxury ,comfortable beds, cosy big bath towels to stressless designer chairs to look out to the amazing views from the fabulous windows.The grazing cattle were a lovely sight to see every morning . I’ve stayed in Skye many a time ….i would definitely say this is my favourite ! Can’t wait to return .

It is easy to reach the cottage based on the information provided from the order. There is everything inside the cottage but food. It is really nice to stay in just feeling like at home. The owner is very nice, ready to provide help at any time.if you have a car, it is very convenient and good choice. I may come back some time in future.

Wonderful Cottage, clean and well stocked, home from home .

Nice quiet location but also a handy location for touring the island .

This was beyond or expectation's from the first impression to entering this beautiful property overlooking the wet meadows and loch .

The garden area was well kept with a private driveway and plenty of parking. The bungalow itself was home from home in every way with its large open plan kitchen living space hallway and bedrooms all to a very high quality. We wound not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone and have already done just that to our friends and colleagues. When we return to the isle of Sky we will definitely return to Burnside. Mr Trevor Ward .

Perfect location close enough to Portree for shopping but out in the country so it’s very quiet. Very clean and comfortable. High end furnishings and fixtures. Owner is responsive and very friendly. I’ve stayed there 3 times and will stay again. Only issue is the WiFi is so slow it’s practically useless.

We had such a wonderful stay at this house and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

From the moment we arrived, everything felt welcoming, calm, and thoughtfully prepared. The house was absolutely spotless — you can tell it’s very well cared for. Every room was clean, fresh, and organised, which immediately made us feel comfortable and relaxed. It’s always such a good feeling when you walk into a place and instantly know it’s been properly looked after. One of the best things about this home is how warm and cosy it is. The insulation is excellent — even when it’s cold and windy outside, the house stays beautifully warm inside without feeling stuffy. It feels snug and peaceful, with no drafts or chill at all. We stayed very comfortably and never had to worry about the temperature. It really makes a difference, especially during colder Scottish days. James was fantastic from start to finish. He is genuinely friendly, approachable, and easy to communicate with. Any questions we had were answered quickly, and everything was explained clearly. You can tell he cares about his guests having a good experience, which makes the stay even more enjoyable. The only problem was with slow wifi, but we always bring our Starlink with us.

Everything was perfect - just sometimes the wi-fi wasn't working so well. But we'll be back, I am still heartbreak that I had to leave this wonderful house

I cannot say enough great things about this property and the owner is lovely and very helpful.

We have been three times and every time I do not want to leave. The house has everything you need and more and it is so peaceful. We will be back again.

The cottage location and facilities make it a great base for a week or two in Skye.

The views of birds and seals from the living area across Loch Snizort are worth the 600 mile trip for us to get there. We will be back.

A pet bug bear of mine - pots and pans are not checked for cleanliness and hygiene.

All 3 frying pans were unacceptable. Otherwise a lovely place that we will try to return to.

This accomadtion is fantastic the views are good and it is nice and quiet well light and has a tv in every room kitchen was big

The cottage is fantastic and we hopefully will visit again next year. No detail is overlooked in the cottage. You feel at home the second you arrive and always feel very sad when it comes to the time to leave. It is a winning combination of a fantastic property set in idyllic surroundings and run by a family who really care for their visitors.

Burnside Cottage was an absolute joy to stay at.

The home is clean and comfortable with a breathtaking view of green fields, rolling hills, and the nearby loch. I loved sitting outside in the morning, drinking my coffee with the cows. The cottage is just a short drive from town where you can find grocery stores and nearby shops and restaurants. Also not too far a drive from some really incredible sight-seeing. My family and I didn't want to leave. We had the chance to meet the owners as we were leaving, and they were incredibly kind and welcoming. By far, one of the best places I have ever stayed. I hope to stay here again next time I'm on Skye!

What a wonderful place to stay.

Beautiful views over the loch and the house is immaculate, has ample room, great specification and is very well maintained. The owner was very helpful and friendly and made us very welcome. We were so sad to leave and hope we can come back soon.

Well situated for travel across the island. The property was well equipped and furnished to a high standard throughout, it did feel like a home from home. We will consider a return next year, highly recommended. Thanks to the owner James Lamont for looking after us so well.

This was a great cottage, modern and clean, very well equipped, and lovely sea views over an inlet facing another part of Skye in the background.

We had a most enjoyable time here. The only suggestion I would make is perhaps more instructions would be nice, eg for the wood burner, and for finding the cottage. No tools or gloves for the woodburner were provided. Although it was possible to connect the TV to the internet via the wifi code provided, accounts for the catch-up services were not set up. Other than that, a fantastic cottage.

Beautiful cottage and surroundings, and the owner and his parents are lovely and very welcoming, cannot wait to go back next year.

Fantastic vacation home.

Modem. Well appointed and supplied. Tremendous views. Our host was very responsive. We found nothing lacking to cook in for breakfasts and a nice dinner during our stay. It was great to have a clothes washer and dryer at the mid-point of our holiday. Porter and Uig are both close for groceries, laundry pods, etc. We hope to come again!

The cottage was a perfect home away from home.

The location is great, easy to find, and everything was in perfect shape. The roses and tablet candy were a wonderful touch. James Lamont was helpful as we were delayed in checking in.

Great spacious cottage with fantastic views

Our family have enjoyed all the magnificence that Skye offers, from seafood to castles, gardens, mountains and lochs, jn sunshine and showers.

At the end of each day it was a pleasure to return to the serene warmth of Burnside. The perfect holiday home Thank you James for the use of your lovely cottage.

First class cottage very spacious and views were superb very comfortable and peaceful cottage done to very high standard situated I'm middle of portree and Uig great for exploring the island despite the weather got right round would recommend the boat trip we went on stardust very good.

Burnside Cottage on the Isle of Skye was amazing.

The position with views over the Loch from the fabulous panorama window in the lounge were stunning. The gardens were well stocked & looked after. James, the owner, had thought every little detail to make our stay comfortable & enjoyable. The fixtures & fittings & furniture were top quality, & it was like home from home! There were so many little additions which you do not usually get in rented accommodation, e.g. herbs, ice packs & a fitted picnic cool bag, umbrella, games, videos, t.v.'s in each bedroom, toiletries etc.etc. plus a box of fudge & roses!! I defy anyone to have a complaint & would not hesitate to recommend this cottage to anyone. Well done James ( with the help of mum & dad!!)

A wonderful location which was ideal, whatever the weather threw at us.

We enjoyed the 180 degree panoramic view of the loch from the living room, wildlife spotting. We were also intrigued by the ruined croft seen from the cottage, which has inspired us to learn more of Skye and the history of the Clearences. So much to see, so many memories. We would very much like to see that we will be returning but distance from Southeast England to Skye regrettably make this unlikely.

I can't believe there is a better place to stay than this on the whole island.

We’ve rented properties all over the world and this is by far the best one we’ve stayed in.

Everything is perfect. Location, view, cleanliness, equipment all first class. We even had good weather! We hope to be back.

A little disappointed that there was no internet connection to the smart TV.

That said, the place is wonderful. The cottage itself is nice and clean with everything you need. Burnside Cottage is ideally suited to exploring The Isle Of Skye with an amazing view right out of the window. I walked down to the water to take sunset pictures where I noticed there were seals watching my every move. We loved the cottage and didn't want to leave and are hoping to return in the future. Highly recommended !!

Outstanding property and location.

The owner has thought of everything. The decor, layout, furnishings and bathrooms are amazing. The property is well stocked with everything you could possibly need. We arrived later at night and were welcomed with two vases of flowers and the lights on. I thought this was very thoughtful. The views from the property and amazing. This property definitely has the Wow factor. Already booked next visit.

The pictures and description of the property was very accurate.

We even thought it was better than as described. Top class bungalow with superb views and everything you need for a good holiday. Would certainly recommend it to all.

No expense has been spared to offer every possible facility and comfort; the kitchen is outstanding and has everything you could possibly need.

The underfloor hearting works, it's spacious and comfortable - five star indeed! The four of us all recommend it!

WOW, what an amazing cottage Burnside is.

the place is immaculate throughout, from the big kitchen that wants for nothing, from cupboard space, to all the things you would need to cook or eat with etc, the bedrooms and bathrooms are 1st class, and then there is the duel living room which gives both the oppotunity to look out across the Loch throughout the day (if thats what you want to do) with a quick about face enabling you to sit in front of a roaring log fire should you have the need to fire it up, and watch TV after a day exploring

Burnside Cottage excelled our expectations especially where the views were concerned.

It was an incredible 2 weeks spent at the Cottage with plenty of places to visit on the Isle of Skye which was beautiful.

The house was simply wonderful and far better than the photos show.

It was spotless too, and there was not one thing that we needed and couldn’t find throughout the whole week. It is in a lovely location too, and the perfect base from which to explore the island in any direction.

We have just returned from a fabulous holiday at Burnside Cottage.

The bungalow exceeded all of our expectations. Immaculately clean and everything you would need for a self catering holiday. Centrally placed in between Uig and Portree on the main road (that is not busy or noisy). A long drive from Derbyshire, but well worth it. Fabulous views and places to visit. Burnside Cottage will not disappoint you. We recommend it without any hesitation.

The house is furnished and equipped to an extremely high standard.

We were greatly impressed on arrival to see how clean and fresh the entire house and surroundings are. There were several unexpected items (fresh, cut flowers , bedding plants, vases) all of which enhanced the property . I was reminded of the old television advert, "If Carlsberg did holiday homes........!" A truly excellent property with much thought given to guest comfort.

Very comfortable cottage, spacious and beautifully furnished and equipped.

Unusually (and I’ve made a study!), there were enough comfy chairs for everyone to sit together, had we had all beds occupied! Great views out over the loch.

!) and very clean and comfortable. The views are stunning out across the loch. We had terrible weather all week, but it didn’t stop us getting out and about - helped by having somewhere warm and welcoming to return to each day.

Easy to book and the accommodation was first class

The bungalow was absolutely superb.

Fantastic location overlooking loch with fabulous views from spacious lounge windows. Spotlessly clean. High quality fixtures and fittings, Spacious, warm and comfortable. Excellent internet speed.

The Cottage was really lovely and full amenities available.

Brilliant view and nice private area. Would suggest better wifi, if available in that area, some insect screens in bedrooms especially, addition of a/c to cool bedrooms and living area. There is a nice outdoor sitting area and adding a barbecue would be a nice touch. These comments are purely suggestions for improvement on what is a already a very lovely property.

The cottage was very modern, extremely well presented throughout and immaculate inside.

The little touches and provisions were a most welcome asset as the rural setting does mean a car journey of a few miles to the local shop. There was nothing we lacked and the cottage is fitted out to a very high standard. It was in a beautiful setting and we were treated to a glorious sunset and the most amazing views of the stars and the Milky Way. The island has many beautiful places to visit, small bays and dramatic views, we were blessed with good weather and we had a lovely base from which to explore. The locals were very friendly and helpful and Portree was a cute little harbour town. We would not hesitate to book Burnside Cottage again.

The cottage was even better than the photos well equipped and comfortable the only downside was the internet I think this should be sorted even if the cottage is rural it does not stop you from getting good internet reception the broadband provider should be called and get this sorted as people need to keep in touch

This was a fantastic cottage with everything you need.

Burnside cottage was amazing .

...from location to accommodation 10/10. We were met by the owners mother who showed us around the cottage , explained heating etc and reassured us they were only a phone call away if we needed assistance , which we didn't but felt safe in the knowledge they were there to help. The cottage faces full on to the loch with a huge set of picture windows in the huge open plan living area, with 5 leather recliners and foot stools to sit in and admire the view ...pick a seat , pick a window and just relax and take it all in !! The cottage sleeps 5 and we were only 2 so it was huge , there is an ensuite with the double room and a large family bathroom with a bath which was fully utilised after walking every day . The kitchen is fully stocked with everything u can think of ... there's even a slow cooker if you want to put a stew on before u go out for the day !! Everything is very clean and well appointed . Under floor heating ensures the cottage is always the perfect temperature. Full laundry facilities also . All in all feel lucky to have gotten a last minute booking as you can see its almost fully booked through the seasons . We will definitely stay again given the opportunity . As an aside this location feels perfect for exploring the whole island as its more or less in the middle . There's also a large well stocked co-OP 7 miles away in Portree for every provision.

The cottage is really well furnished.

The sofas and lounge seats are ver comfortable. The size is Hugh, it can comfortably fit in a dozen people. The wifi is not really fast, which it is not an issue for me. Keep the kids away from their phone.

The cottage is an exceptional place to stay, everything you need is there and the quality is first class.

We would definitely return in the future

The bright, roomy, spotless cottage had all the amenities we needed to have a nice rest from a busy travel schedule.

The view out over the loch was lovely. The location was perfect for day trips around the island. We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 days here.

Maybe you should state on the website that there is TVs in all the bedrooms.

I contacted Sykes to ask before I went as I wanted to take a small tv for my sons room. They had supposedly contacted the owner to ask if it would work and was told there is a tv mast 8 miles away so should be ok. That was obviously not true as the owner would have said there was TVs in all the rooms so we had bought an inside aerial, aerial booster and packed it in the car for nothing. Not great customer service from sykes. That is the only complaint with no fault To the owner.
