A wonderful experience from start to finish - the property and the owner!

The bungalow is a new, spotlessly clean and wonderfully equipped property. It is also very spacious for my family group of five; we really enjoyed our time here. Likewise, the owner communicates clearly and efficiently, and was a genuinely nice person to deal with. I can't recommend Riverside enough. Do it!

what a restful and peaceful 5 nights we had here, Wish it could have been longer, but we had a strict itinerary to adhere too ! James and Christina the owners were most most accommodating, and have comprehensively equipped and maintained this beautiful property to the highest standards. No wonder they have received SYKES GOLD AWARDS! We will definitely be returning in the near future

We stayed for a week in mid April 2026 and thought Riverside Cottage was excellent.

The cottage is very equipped and certainly had everything we needed. The WiFi was reliable and fast, and worked throughout the property - fine for streaming football etc. The Smart TV in the living room was good too - we did not use the other TVs. The heating and hot water were preset at very good levels and worked perfectly - we never had to touch the controls during our stay. Our only improvement suggestion, really, would be to upgrade the cooker hob -it is very basic and difficult to control heat levels. We may well return to Riverside Cottage in future - we had a great time!!

Absolutely lovely.

I couldn't give full marks for cleanliness because some of the cooking utensils weren't 100% clean. Otherwise everything was spot on. There was a decorated Christmas tree and crackers, flowers and sweets. Attention to detail!

Firstly, with regard to Sykes is not easy to make contact with the company.

The time taken to respond to a booking query is unacceptable. It seems everything is highly automated with little attention to being given to human interaction. Sykes need to return to providing real customers service. With regard to the property, we were happy to return, the location is ideally suited to our needs. The property was clean, well equipped and comfortable. The view from the lounge across the Loch is simply stunning. The owner is friendly and attentive. Our sincere thanks go to James for his care and attention to our needs. We hope to be return in 2026.

Extremely well equipped. Very tidy, very spacious, very clean, very well organised and very well looked after. Good outside space and parking. Quiet and private but with easy access to the road. Enjoyed chatting with the very friendly and helpful owner. Good situation, easy access to Portree and the rest of the island. Our 5th stay.

As good as ever. The response from the owner to the area power cut was impressive. The generator arrived before breakfast and kept us going till power was restored in the evening. Lovely cottage, could sit and watch the wildlife from the conservatory and no need to travel far for great views and countryside. We shall return.

Exceptional stay – one of the best places we've ever stayed in!

We travel a lot as a family (two adults and two children), but we have rarely experienced such a beautiful house in such an amazing location. Everything was simply perfect – the house was extremely clean, well-equipped, and truly welcoming. The location itself was stunning, peaceful, and ideal for exploring the Isle of Skye. The house gave us a real wow effect the moment we arrived – modern yet cozy, with thoughtful design and every detail in place. The kitchen was impressively spacious and had all the appliances we needed (actually more than we expected!). We loved spending time on the terrace with its breathtaking view. The living room with a fireplace made the evenings feel warm and special. The beds were very comfortable, and we appreciated the absolute silence at night – there was nothing around but nature. Communication with the host was flawless – fast, helpful, and very friendly. We were truly amazed by the quality, cleanliness, layout, and the care with which the house was prepared for guests. If I had to mention anything at all, it would be that we had to buy laundry detergent and coffee ourselves – everything else was already provided. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone – couples, families, or anyone seeking a peaceful, beautiful getaway. And honestly? I’m already considering coming back – which is something I rarely do.

Being disabled I had issues like arranging oxygen and seat for the shower. Not a problem for the owner. Everything was in place before we arrived and owner came to check that everything was OK. Thank you so much.

Simply the best

Riverside Cottage is an absolutely delightful home from home.

Beautifully located with tremendous views across the loch and an ideal base to explore this wonderful part of Skye. Remote yet only 10 minutes from the excellent Coop and all the facilities of Portree. The cottage is very modern, extremely comfortable, well laid out with a magnificent kitchen diner that flows through to a spacious lounge with log fire and further sitting area with windows on 3 sides to relax and enjoy the views. It has all the appliances, kitchen and dining facilities you could ever wish for, all of top quality. The owner lives nearby and is quickly available if needed and very caring. This was our second of we hope many future visits.

This is our second visit to this pair of modern cottages; they are very well-equipped, spacious, comfortable, have a lovely view, and warm.

The fact that we have visited the cottage for the last seven years (excluding 2020) really says it all. An immaculate cottage in wonderful surroundings run by super people. Even the bad weather this august will not stop us visiting again.

Riverside Cottage is in the most idyllic quiet position, furnished to a very high standard, all the plentiful appliances are very good quality.

The cottage was immaculate, seating is very comfortable affording wonderful views. The beds were extremely comfortable, we slept better than we have for months. Parking was easy just by the door. Outside table and seating was used for several meals. Attention to detail was second to none and the kind touch of fresh flowers and chocolates was the icing on the cake. A wonderful place that we will always remember as one of the best holidays we have ever had. Thank you.

We have stated in many properties around the Scottish highlands and Islands, and Nowhere has even come close to being as stunning as this house and it's facilities. We spent a fabulous birthday week, the log fire was perfect, the owners even left a birthday card and bottle of wine and fudge

The style and furnishings are quite the best that we have come across over very many rented cottages.

The cottage has literally every piece of kitchen equipment that one might have need of, all of which was 'top of the range' equipment. The cottage was immaculately clean, and comfortable. We met Mr & Mrs Lamont and their son James. They were delightful people who were happy to explain the history of the cottages, and to offer any assistance we might have need of. Excellent property, everything you would wish for on a self catering holiday.

Lovely views over the Loch and a good place for touring the North of the island. Owners very friendly and have put a lot into this cottage. Would definitely go again.

The cottage as a base to explore Skye is excellent. The location and facilities in the cottage especially the ever changing view over the loch from the comfortable chairs is first rate. The owner and his family are helpful without being obtrusive and very interesting to talk to about life on Skye.

My wife and I spent a wonderful four nights at Riverside Cottage.

The cottage was well-furnished and extremely comfortable. One could look at the views across the loch all day. Hopefully we will have the pleasure of returning.

This was our first time to Skye and we could not have stayed anywhere nicer than Riverside Cottage.

It is one of the nicest holiday homes we have stayed in and was so well equipped and comfortable. Our favourite thing was to sit in the reclining swing chairs in front of the lounge windows looking out at the lovely views over the loch and the amazing sunsets that we were lucky enough to see. The location is really central too for all the sights and only 10 minutes drive from Portree.

This was our second stay at this first rate holiday property and we have already booked our third stay for next year.

This is a beautiful holiday home, very tastefully decorated.

It’s very well furnished and an excellent size. Lots of areas to sit and enjoy the view. It was kept toasty warm, appreciated in February! The owners have gone to a lot of trouble to make the home and it’s gardens as lovely as it is. Even the road into the cottage has been built in a way that means you have easy access to and from the township road.

We stayed in Burnside cottage last year, Riverside was up to the same standards as Burnside, we wanted for nothing, there is everything you could think of in the cottage, it is a superb holiday let, we also had the pleasure of meeting Mr lamont snr a really nice gentleman, we will definitely be booking one of the properties for 2024, as we have our holidays booked for next year

A really lovely cottage in the most stunning location. You are guaranteed a relaxing time and the week always flies past far too quickly.

The spacious house is arranged for a long relaxed stay, with every possible amenity you may wish or think of, except coffee for the coffee machine.

Amazing lake views, but no direct access. 10 minutes drive to Portree.

We had such a wonderful stay on Skye and this house was so lovely in every way.

This Cottage is a gem.

Well situated for a great view and also further travels. The kitchen is huge and well stocked to cook any meal. The owners are helpful and friendly. The property is also very well kept and clean. My family really enjoyed our stay.

Had a lovely stay in this super spacious, nicely positioned and well-equipped property.

No major issues but what would have made it perfect was a king size vs regular double bed in the main bedroom. Better quality pillows as the current ones seemed old, lumpy and in need of a change. The kitchen knives were all completely blunt.

We could not find any fault with Riverside cottage nor with the owners.

Also we never felt it was necessary in any shape or form to contact Sykes. The accommodation was excellent, clean and tidy. Our host owners could not have been more helpful. We have been renting cottages in Skye for the past 10+ years and this is the best combo of home and owners we have encountered. Thank you so much to all the Lamont family for making our stay superb.

This holiday rental is absolutely outstanding.

There's nothing the owner hasn't thought of. Even a beautiful bunch of yellow roses left to welcome you and little boxes of chocs and tablet. The views from the livingroom area are just awesome to watch the wildlife and the ever changing weather from. I honestly can't recommend Riverside cottage enough. It's more than 5 star, it's absolute perfection. Peaceful, tranquil, spotlessly clean, ideal location for everything on the Island. Didn't want to leave and would return in a heartbeat. I've been renting properties on Skye for 20 years and Riverside has everything spot on and more. Attention to detail inside and out just PERFECT.

.. The pictures don't do the cottage or location justice. Both are much better in the flesh. The cottage is spacious, very well kitted out and very warm. With viewing windows over over the estuary, complete with 5 leather reclining chairs. WOW! We had a great week, even the weather played ball with us and was warmishly dry. Skye is a beautiful place (where mountains meet the water) and we highly recommend it, and the cottage to anyone who loves nature, or simply want to get away from the hustle & bustle of life. ...the kids said the broadband was good too

This was a wonderfully spacious house, furnished to a very high and comfortable standard.

The kitchen was extremely well equipped. Under the circumstances it was reassuring to find so much hand sanitiser and soap available for our use. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The wildlife was exceptional - sea eagles, golden eagles and dolphins all visible from the living room. We have stayed in numerous self catering properties over the years and this is certainly one of the best.

The cottage itself was a wonderful place to return to after a long days hiking round the islands picturesque sights, with it underfloor heating, hot hot showers and the well equipped kitchen to make your eagerly anticipated dinner it was home from home. then you had the luxury of stretching out and chilling out in the lounge area on the sofas with their built in footrests and watch tv. This property comes highly recommended if you want Space, luxury it might not appeal to those who might want a traditional style accommodation but if you want a beautifully appointed cottage with lots of space and all the creature comforts treat yourself to a stay at Riverside Cottage, like the rest of the island it is wonderful and we can't wait to return to Skye and hopefully we can book Riverside Cottage again if its fame and popularity allows. Everything about this holiday was fantastic!

The accommodation was brilliant with everything that you would need and more, a real home from home! It was a real pleasure to return to it after an enjoyable day out exploring the beautiful Isle of Skye. To be able to sit and look out at the lovely view made for a relaxing end to our day. Our hosts were very welcoming and we would recommend Riverside Cottage!

The sun room provides beautiful views over the river Snizort and is a lovely place to sit and relax after a day of sightseeeing. The house was spotlessly clean on arrival and the fresh flowers and chocolates a nice welcoming touch. We would thoroughly recommend this property to anyone looking to holiday in Skye.

Great cottage with great service

The cottage was outstanding and had every mod con we could possibly need.

The house was spotless and a great space for our group to relax in between exploring the Island. It was central in location and had ample parking. The grounds were well kept and the outdoor space was great for the younger members of our group. There is a lot of personal touches in the cottage. In addition there were 2 easter eggs left for the kids which was a lovely thoughtful touch. Would highly recommend a stay here as the views are spectacular and the host is easy to contact and answered all our questions. We had a fantastic time and certainly intend to return in the future. My family's lasting memory of our recent trip will be the disgusting attitude of the owner's representative who was as grossly unpleasant as she was unprofessional.

On our departure day, the woman allowed herself into the property via the locked front door at 9.50am and then proceeded to openly insult my wife, in front of my son and daughter, as we were "lazy, lazy people" who "can't read simple instructions" (the departure time was 10am). When my pregnant wife - who has been suffering with morning sickness - explained that we hadn't realised her rules were quite so rigid but if she'd allow us 15 minutes, we'd have the bags packed into the car and the property tidied to the standard we found it, she was dismissed again as "lazy" and told she should have "got up sooner". When I suggested that her shocking treatment of guests wasn't exactly best business practise she laughed it off stating: "we're booked through all next summer". What made the entire episode more galling was the fact that she wasn't even expecting her next unsuspecting customers until the following day, so she'd literally gone out of her way to show up early and show my children that the Isle of Skye isn't just scenic walks, fun adventures and natural beauty. When I told her I would apologise to my kids for having the misfortune of meeting such a rude woman she replied: "They'll meet much worse than me in Glasgow," which I felt summed up her view of the her lower-class guests, who should be more obedient when they are allowed to pay through the nose to stay at her property. Otherwise, Riverside Cottage is a cosy, modern, well-equipped home in a magnificent location.
