  • "Superbly appointed cottage in the perfect location."

The property was beautifully furnished - very stylish, warm and comfortable and spotlessly clean. I loved that everything was provided even washing powder and dishwasher tablets etc. It’s obviously a much loved home and a lot of thought has been put into making it comfortable and welcoming to visitors. Harris was beautiful - lots of places to visit and being next to Luskentyre beach was fantastic. Such an amazing beach. We saw the Northern lights for 3 consecutive nights - truly magical! We had a fantastic holiday - thank you! The only thing I would suggest (as it’s a new property and the owners asked for feedback in the welcome notes in the cottage) is that there is a mirror in the bedrooms to make it easier to dry your hair, but it certainly wasn’t a big issue and was probably all academic within 5 minutes of being outside in the weather!

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. We're delighted to hear you enjoyed your trip to Harris and your time at Taigh Marsaili. Property Owner

  • "This was the most amazing location, (white sands and turquoise seas) and Taigh Marsaili matched it perfectly."

We wanted for nothing, from extremely comfortable beds to fluffy towels, in this beautifully appointed and decorated Croft. There were thoughtful touches, from the welcome bottle of fizz together with the array of tasty goodies, towels for the beach and a very informative/useful house manual. Such a treat having a morning swim in walking distance and a lovely hot shower to come back to! A great base to enjoy the white sand beaches and the rest of Harris, although it was so relaxing to just stay put and watch the ever changing light and views over the beach and that’s even ignoring the phenomenal sunsets. Both bedrooms, living room and kitchen had stunning sea views and it was a joy cooking in the latter. Would recommend a stay Taigh Marsaili and we can’t wait to come back. Many thanks.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. We're delighted you enjoyed your stay at Taigh Marsaili and look forward to your next visit. Property Owner

The property

Tarbert 10.1 miles.

Leverburgh 14.8 miles.

Taigh Marsaili is a beautiful cottage, recently totally refurbished, in the village of Luskentyre.

Sitting in a lovely sunny spot on the foothills of Ben Luskentyre, blessed with endlessly changing views of the bay, across to Seilebost and Horgabost, south westwards to Toe Head and the horizon.

Beach access to the famous sands is two minutes’ walk away, whether wild swimming, taking photographs, painting, watching the wildlife who call it home (if you’re lucky you might see sea otters) or just taking a walk and soaking up the scenery, it’s a truly remarkable place. The cottage sits behind a hand-built dry stone wall and windswept hedge.

Park up and take a moment to enjoy the spectacular view.

On opening the door to this cosy cottage, first find the utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer and sink.

From here, make your way to the airy kitchen, with contemporary white and sea green fittings and oiled solid oak worktops.

While the kettle boils, enjoy the spectacular views; this is a kitchen where you can watch the tide wash the sand while cooking on the induction hob, dining at the kitchen table, or enjoying a glass of wine with friends.

If the weather is more challenging, there’s a flat screen Smart TV to entertain you.

The sitting room complements the kitchen perfectly with comfy, restful décor.

Once again, with multiple windows on two sides, incredible views draw the attention to the outdoors.

It’s a lovely, welcoming and peaceful sanctuary to relax and reflect after a day exploring, or to hide away with a book when the weather is wild.

It also has a large Smart TV, a shelf of books of local interest, a Lewis chess set and a home-made backgammon set. Bathtime is pure indulgence.

Soak away those aches in the freestanding bath or bring your muscles back to life with a shower in the sleek shower room.

When the day is over and sleep finally calls, settle into the hotel-grade mattresses in the super-king size and twin bedrooms.

And if you like having your morning coffee in bed, you’ll be able to see the sea from there too! At the front of the house there’s a delightful, sheltered garden, perfect for sunbathing or for a quick sundowner while supper is cooking.

At the back of the house, there’s a shed with hangers for wet jackets and space for storing bikes.

Whatever your plans, start them all from Taigh Marsaili.
