Description
Stornoway 35.3 miles.
For all those beach lovers out there, 7a Ardroil is the dream destination near to Uig on the Isle of Lewis.
Ideal for small families or couples on holiday together, this authentic Hebridean cottage is situated just a short stroll from the famous Ardroil beach, where the twelfth century Lewis Chessmen pieces were discovered.
The cottage itself offers visitors a warm welcome with an inviting and spacious sitting room complete with local artwork on the walls and an attractive woodburning stove, helping to set the scene for snug evenings in front of the fire enjoying quality time with friends and family.
The appealing farmhouse kitchen has all the mod cons you’d expect and is perfect for preparing tasty meals whether it’s a hearty breakfast round the table in the kitchen or something more formal in the dining room, meal times are certainly something to look forward to here.
There is also the added bonus of a wealth of gorgeous local produce available in the area to inspire even the most amateur of foodies.
After a hard day of enjoying the activities on offer on the island, where better to retreat than upstairs to one of the two pleasant and homely bedrooms which boast superb views over the dramatic coastline of Uig?
To complete the accommodation there is a family bathroom with bath and step-in shower and a useful downstairs shower room.
Outside, the cottage is surrounded by substantial gardens and there is a perfectly placed picnic bench, the ideal spot for enjoying a picnic and taking in those incredible views.
It’s all about the beaches here though with access to 24 stunning beaches along the Uig peninsula, you’ll be absolutely spoilt for choice!
If you fancy a change from the beach then there are fabulous hill walking routes in the nearby Uig Hills, birdwatching opportunities at Gallan Head and just a short but scenic drive away, are the fabled Calanais Stones and a local whisky distillery.
To truly appreciate the beauty of the Isle of Lewis, 7a Ardroil is the perfect base and promises to deliver holiday memories to treasure forever.

What guests are saying
We felt like home in this wonderful cottage.
It was really comfortable and warm. Even so the weather was not all that kind to us during our visit to this interesting island.
This house is soooo comfortable.
Despite being an old house, it's warm, the beds are comfy and the tweed curtains keep out the drafts downstairs. The pictures on the website are out of date - the kitchen and bathrooms have been updated. The facilities are great - I'm not sure I've been in such a well-stocked holiday kitchen, there's a large drying area for the inevitable downpours, and the airing cupboard even provides beach towels. there are two big bookshelves, one of which is full of local history books - such a fascinating location and history! The local area is gorgeous, with loads of places to swim and walk and just soak in the loveliness (don't swim on Cliff beach, it's got dangerous tides, the others were all good). The community shop is very well stocked, and the heritage centre is super interesting with a cafe full of excellent cake.
The property has many things in its favour that have been mentioned by others.
However, as a recent guest has said, the property would benefit from some TLC. We felt that the mattresses in both bedrooms should be replaced and that is reflected in the comfort score. The shower in the downstairs toilet was old and both water flow and temperature were limited, resulting in the facilities score being 3 rather than 4. A few specific points, the upstairs bath and shower would benefit from anti slip mats. the radiator in the downstairs toilet is badly marked/ stained the lamp shade above the shower should be cleaned, dead flies are visible behind the shade when the light is switched on, there were a number of issues re the lighting which were drawn to the attention of the owner during our stay. These comments are intended to be constructive to enhance the property for the benefit of future guests and should not be viewed as being overly critical. We enjoyed our stay.
