"A Memorable Stay at Road End Cottage, Ness Our two-week stay at Road End Cottage was truly unforgettable."
The cottage is perfectly situated, offering breath-taking views of Port of Ness beach and easy access to all the island has to offer. It’s a peaceful retreat, ideal for exploring local interests while enjoying the serenity of the surroundings. Having visited the island for the past 55 years, where my mother was born, returning to such a beautiful and comfortable place was incredibly special. The cottage had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable and relaxing. We felt right at home. We’re already looking forward to returning again soon. Thank you for helping make our visit so memorable. Roger & Bernice
Thank you for your very kind words. It was lovely to meet you both and we look forward to seeing you again. Property Owner

"We loved it."
Quiet location. Great sea views from the bedroom and living room. We were able to see lots of gannets. There is a small restaurant directly opposite and 4 miles further on there is a petrol station with a small supermarket where you can buy everything you need to cook.

"Sweet little cottage very comfortable, all the white goods etc high quality beautifull art work ( done by the owners) Everything you need provided."
Very nice linen and towles. Excellent views! Very nice harbour. The tour buses do pull up outside the window and reverse into spaces just opposite but we found it funny more than a pain, we even waved to them when they were gawping in the windows.. but its a sweet cottage so don't blame them! Highly recommended and the cafe across the road very nice... people are exceptionally friendly on the island most stunning place can't wait to return one day. We are from north Shropshire so as you can imagine it's a very big trip. Loved it. Thank you

"An absolutely stunning position with great views and always something going on, either at sea or on land."
Visitors should be warned in advance of booking that WiFi is very intermittent (especially for TV viewing or if there is a need for work contact). The hair dryer could not be turned off except at the mains socket. A small thing - a milk jug would be useful. Nothing to spoil our stay - thank you.
I am sorry that you had a problem with the wifi. So surprised to hear this as other visitors have used the wifi for work purposes without a problem. We are available 24/7 to address any issues. We will get the BT engineer to check this out. Hair dryer replaced. Glad that you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

"We loved this cottage and its location, looking out over the bay."
It was beautiful inside and very comfortable, a great place to sit and relax after a day exploring the area. We watched gannets diving, and saw fabulous sunsets and clear starry skies. It was lovely to chat to the cottage owner, Anthony, at his art gallery in the village too. He was very welcoming and gave us lots of good tips about places to visit. We would definitely recommend this cottage!

"We had an excellent stay and the cottage was perfect."
Geat location and views. My only minor comment would be that fridge/freezer is a little small if you intend to cook and need to store food & drink. Also as it was on the small side it was low down and awkward to reach.

"Lovely cottage with outstanding view."
Comfortable and clean . Well positioned for our needs as we have relations nearby . Well equipped kitchen for two people , although we never used the oven as we took our own air fryer with us. For convenience a couple of small coffee tables would be good . From an aesthetic point of view a blind in the bedroom would be preferable to the heavy duty curtains . Some lovely walks nearby and of course the beautiful beach . Overall an ideal place for us to stay if we are on our own

"Wonderful spot overlooking the beach."
House was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. We had great weather and discovered Isles of Lewis & Harris. Wonderful people and we filled our week easily, even managed a 1000 piece jigsaw on the dining table! Highly recommend

"We had a lovely stay at Road End Cottage."
The only thing I would have said I would have preferred was for the windows to have some curtains in the living area instead of just the very light blinds. Lots of tourist buses etc park up across the street and there can be quite a bit of foot traffic at times to. Curtains would give you the option of more privacy if required.

Where you’ll be staying
PORT OF NESS
Ness 1.5 miles; Bragar 19.7 miles; Stornoway 26.8 miles
With an intriguing little harbour backed by a jagged headland, merging into an east-facing beach, the Port of Ness rests at the northern tip of the Isle of Lewis. Offering an insight into the legends, lore and long-observed traditions that have shaped the island’s identity, this community, in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, is a stronghold of the Gaelic language. Harbour View Gallery is where you will find some of locally-based artist Anthony J Barber's works on view. Cross boasts an inn that looks slightly out of place, along with one of the brightest and most cheerful looking post offices you'll find anywhere. From the nearby Butt of Lewis you can look out across the unforgiving waters of the Atlantic and stand in the shadow of a Stevenson lighthouse built of red brick. Take in the breath-taking scenery from the Isle of Lewis' northernmost point, surrounded by the swells of an ever-rising sea. The Butt of Lewis features some of the oldest rocks in Europe, having been formed in the Precambrian period. Discover Dùn Èistean, an archaeological site on the north east coast, showcasing the ruins of two large buildings amongst grassy tussocks. Stornoway is just 40 minutes away by car, with a busy working harbour, selection of shops selling local gifts including Harris Tweed and award-winning restaurants selling locally sourced food. Visit Lews Castle Grounds and the iconic Lews Castle as well as museums and art galleries. This beautiful location is for those looking to get out and explore the rural landscapes and fascinating Scottish heritage the Isle of Lewis has to offer.
