  • "The property was exactly as listed."

It was in an ideal location for us, right on the loch. Be aware there is no access to the loch from the property. There are a lot of good aspects to the cabin but nothing to add to what is in the description, therefore, I will focus on aspects that might be useful for future guests: It is a very warm building with few options to ventilate, especially when the midges are around. Cooking was simple with the hob and multi-purpose oven. The cabin is comfortable but not particularly relaxing. The 2 single sofa bed chairs are okay but not ideal for lounging on and although the bed is very comfortable, the thought of climbing down the ladder in the middle of the night for the toilet meant I didn't sleep as well as I could have done. I recommend taking binoculars to check-out the wildlife on and over the loch. Overall, a comfortable place to stay with everything you need

  • "We had a wonderful stay at North Light Studio!"

The location by the loch was perfect and fabulous that this was our view from the mezzanine bed each morning. The design was contemporary and well laid out and the sauna was a clever touch. Due to the structure of the studio, it was also very quiet, considering it was windy. Thank you for helping to make our holiday memorable and for the small bottles of gin…. We bought a large one!!

  • "We had a wonderful visit."

It is such a well thought out and fun place to stay, with a beautiful view over the loch where we enjoyed a couple of amazing sunsets sitting out the front of the property. The small sauna at the back of the bathroom is a great little touch!

  • "A peaceful and tranquil setting, thanks to Mhairi and Steven who are friendly owners."

The temperature in the lodge especially the sleeping quarters is way too warm, despite it being only 12 degrees outside. It needs proper ventilation installed, or a small velux in the roof space. Unfortunately we came back more tired than when we arrived. There are other reviews online that mention the heat problem so we know this is not a one-off opinion and hope that this can be properly addressed The chairs in the main lounge are uncomfortable and this added to our overall feeling of discomfort with no-where really to turn to relax properly. I did try to alternate between sleeping on the chairs due to it being too hot in the mezzanine, unfortunately that didn't work either. A broom would have been handy to sweep out the grasses and bits brought in by a dog.

  • "I absolutely loved my time here."

The location is amazing, Mhairi and Steven were really lovely and welcoming, and the studio itself is so well thought out, with fabulous views of the loch and the hills. It's a wonderfully light, bright, and inspring place to stay and I really look forward to coming back. Thank you for a fabulous stay!

Such a lovely cosy, comfortable cabin, very cleverly designed and beautifully built There is a well equipped kitchen, all you need for a week stay and a smart bathroom, great shower and secret sauna We had the best nights' sleep on the cosy mezzanine, even through a Hebridean storm, thanks to the incredible insulation And the main feature is of course the fabulous looking onto the ever changing view, great for spotting wildlife, seeing the stars and Milky Way and watching the Northern Lights put on an epic display Thank you to Mhairi and Steven for creating this amazing space for visitors to North Uist and for their great hosting

  • "Fabulous property."

Very comfortable for 2 and a dog with plenty of space for a large dog crate. Sauna was an added treat. Kitchen was easily usable with hot plate and combi microwave oven which suited us well. Very comfortable bed and amazing views to wake up to each morning. Wi-Fi enabled us to use internet, play music and watch movies as desired. Excellent location, just 20min drive from Lochmaddy and we explored from Vatersay to Berneray with ease in our week long stay. Owners were super helpful when looking for help booking a day trip down to Barra when the ferry didn’t seem bookable. Those instagram photos aren’t lying, it’s a genuinely beautiful part of Scotland to visit and unbelievably quiet on all of the stunning beaches. We saw more owls (8) in one week than I have done my whole life in their natural environment, dolphins on our ferry trip over from Uig, Skye, a white tailed eagle and a stunning large deer right by the roadside. No luck for us with otters but we certainly found a lot of evidence of them. I’m sure others would have more luck. Bring your binoculars and look out for the May-Sept RSPB walks e.g. Wednesdays otter walks from Langass Lodge, Thursdays Eagle walk, Mondays….. we didn’t find out about these until it was too late, so do research these ahead of your trip if you can. Don’t hesitate to book the North Light Studio, we’ve already been recommending it so much people are fed up hearing about it!

  • "The house was just perfekt for our time in North Uist!"

The wooden smell, the furniture, the bed one floor up under the rooftop, all was fantastic. Although the house was just next to the owners place, after 5 mins you don't notice this any more as you can just enjoy the view of the spectecular Scottish landscape. Our favorite has been the oven to make fire in the evenings. Mhairi, the host, was absolutely great, with all the nice things available for us (gin, tonic, jam, coffee). One special positive note: Having the soap from "Essence of Harris" in the bathroom was a great recommendation. We later went to Tarbert to buy it for use at home! Thank you for all.

  • "The studio was beautiful, as were the surroundings."

Everything was very clean and comfortable, we slept really well. The kitchen area was well equipped, and there was a good hot water supply. It all felt very homely and welcoming. It was possible to put the blinds down at night but we kept them open to make the most of the midsummer daylight coming through the big windows. We would definitely like to stay there again. We have 2 minor suggestions: a cupboard or even a big wooden box to put our clothes in and hide our luggage away. Also, a temporary clothes line that could be put up outside to get your things dry if you’ve been swimming.
