  • "We loved the cottage from the start and couldn't have asked for a more comfortable place to stay."

    The nearby walks around Newmillerdam were beautiful, especially the "high" path. We also loved Walton Colliery. It was very convenient to have the Dam Inn right next door for emergency meals although we were mostly self catering. Altogether a very peaceful, happy holiday was had. Thank you

    The cottage is in a great location, lovely walk around the lake, I agree with the 3star rating from Sykes, enjoyed our stay in the area Bathroom very small, new shower needed, nice comfy beds, warm, Parking would be difficult at busy times but we managed to park in the car park, the owners daughter has the grooming business and she said she lets guests park in front, overall a nice break

    Thank you for your review. I am pleased that you enjoyed the location the walks around the lake and the comfortable beds and your stay overall. However I am really disappointed by some of your comments and feel that it is important to clarify them for my future guests. In particular I strongly disagree with the 25 % Cleanliness rating which does not reflect the perfect condition in which I prepared for your arrival. The cottage has totally been refurbished march 2026 every thing is brand new to bespoke standard. The shower is new too and in perfect working order ??Regarding parking you were able to park in front of my daughters dog groomers as a kind gesture when the groomers were closed Which is not on the listing.I welcome genuine constructive feedback as I always welcome ways to improve.But I do think reviews should provide an accurate and fair reflection on the property. I am pleased that despite your concerns you described your stay as ‘ nice break’. Property Owner

  • "Lakeside Cottage was a lovely place to stay, modern and clean inside, beautifully decorated and easy driving distance to everything we needed during our stay."

    Pub next door, lovely walk around the lake and a selection of places to eat nearby. Perfect for our short stay. Karen checked in on us to make sure everything was fine and was easily contactable if we had any questions or needed anything!

  • "What a fabulous location, right on the lake and within easy walking distance of local cafes, pubs and restaurants."

    The cottage is very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for a lovely 3 night stay while visiting family and friends in the area. The adjacent country park has plenty of walks for people of all abilities and our dog loved it. We hope to visit again in the future.

  • "Stunning cottage immaculately decorated, didn't want to leave!"

    We had a very comfortable stay, Karen was very friendly and helpful. Great location, right next to the lake, short stroll to the boathouse cafe and The Dam pub practically on the doorstep with great food. Couldn't ask for more for a relaxing break in a gorgeous property.
