  • "Loved the location, but not happy with the facilities and general cleanliness."

Furniture old, and frankly smelt musty. Particularly noticable in bedroom. The fridge and washing machine, ( the latter being of little use without availability of a dryer), would both have benefited from a deep clean. The cutlery was old, had a distinct taint to it. This I note was similarly reported, although only mentioned the teaspoons. Apparently it had been addressed, well no, it has not. But even more of an issue was the bathroom facilities. An extremely noisy system. The shower head needed to be descaled. To get hot water to come out, you needed to turn it on high. In turn, unable to control the flow of water, meant said water sprayed everywhere. Thus a bath was only practical option. The problem being I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, cannot lay down and then get out of a bath without difficulty. In all, apart from as I said the location, would not recommend this property.

Thank you for your feedback. We are delighted that you enjoyed your time in Salisbury. However, we regret that the property did not fully meet your expectations. The cutlery is modern, with all knives having been recently replaced. The shower is a power shower, which operates with a single setting by design. However, the shower head offers multiple adjustable options. Should any issues arise during a guest’s stay, the owner lives nearby and is available to assist. The Townhouse is furnished in a manner that reflects the historical character of the property and is advertised as featuring antique furniture. The housekeeper takes great care to ensure that the home is thoroughly cleaned and meticulously prepared before each guest’s arrival. Best wishes, Manor Cottages Property Owner

SALISBURY

The medieval city of Salisbury is the jewel in Wiltshire's crown, dominated by the majestic 13th century Gothic cathedral. The cathedral offers 750 years of history including Britain's tallest spire, the world's best preserved original Magna Carta, and Europe's oldest working clock. The surrounding cathedral close, full of architectural gems, is bordered by the River Avon and ancient Chilmark stone walls. The city offers historic streets with charming half-timbered buildings, traditional pubs, characterful shops and a twice-weekly market. Or, stroll along the Town Path and take in the awe-inspiring views across the water meadows towards the cathedral. After dark, there's a thriving arts scene, including one of the country's leading repertory theatres, a lively arts centre, cinema and a wealth of independent restaurants. Should you want to explore further afield then a short drive from Salisbury takes you to Stonehenge, the National Trust's Stourhead House and gardens, majestic Wilton House, as well as the New Forest National Park, and the Hampshire and Dorset coasts. There's so much to see and do in Salisbury and surrounding area that your only concern will be finding the time to do it all!
