Very lovely holiday retreat.

A home from home with lots of thoughtful inclusions, such as picnic bags, shopping bags, electric fans, dog toys and an extension lead! Ideal location for travelling all around the New Forest and lots of leaflets available to offer excursion ideas.

Nora made sure we had everything we needed on arrival and made sure we knew we only had to ask if we needed anything else. The property is spotless and comfortable. The Nespresso coffee machine was a very welcome find. Plenty of helpful information provided about the area and things to do. Although as people who are used to the m25 we found the roads to be narrow, they were quiet and scenic. We only met one car going the opposite way in the whole of our stay. So much in easy reach. Salisbury is lovely with plenty of restaurants. The buses around the new forest were cheap and easy to navigate. Everything was relaxing and easy. 10/10.

A home of very high quality ,comfort and warmth.

Beautifully decorated and clean. Lovely artwork . Lots of attention to detail. Hosts are very welcoming but not intrusive.Location is in a beautiful setting. Quiet and with a lovely enclosed garden that is dog friendly. We had a 2 night stay which was not long enough to enjoy the countryside around. The Woodfall Inn is in walking distance where we went for Sunday lunch. We enjoyed walking and exploring the footpaths around the village. We visited Florence Nightingales resting place in Romsey which is significant if you are a nurse or historian.

The Old Byre holiday home exceeded our expectations.

We arrived slightly early but were warmly welcomed and immediately given a tour of the home. It was amazing, homely, spotless and it had everything we could wish for! It was perfect for our first trip to the New Forrest with our little dog, the front garden was totally secure. There was parking for 2 cars, with great pubs a short drive away. I would highly recommend this holiday home and we look forward to visiting again.

Had a lovely break at The Old Byre, owners are a lovely couple who live on site.

There is a nice small garden area in front of the property, secure for dogs and ideal for a morning coffee or an evening drink. Enjoyed lovely meals at The Woodfalls Inn and The Goat; staff are friendly, not just dog friendly. 5 minutes by car from the New Forest, lots of walks and more pubs and cafés.Intending to visit again.

We had a lovely break with our family at the Old Byre, the accommodation was very spacious clean and comfortable.

There’s a lovely outside space which is very private it’s a real sun trap and has tables and chairs so you can dine alfresco. The owners live next door they were welcoming and very helpful but not intrusive. We would recommend the Old Byre and certainly we hope to stay there again. Thank you.

The Old Byre is certainly a home from home!

From the moment we stepped inside we all felt so at home! It’s so much than the photos suggest and it had every amenity you could want and more! It was super clean, the beds were comfy and the building itself is gorgeous. We travelled with two toddlers and they provided cot beds, a high chair and there was an abundance of toys and games! They also loved a little boogie to the music in the dining room and saying hello to the horse who lives outside! We would not hesitate at all to book this place again!

We had a three night stay with another couple at The Old Byre and had a very enjoyable time.

The cottage is very well equipped with a large sitting room and beautiful kitchen (I wish mine was that nice!) The owners live next door and are very friendly and helpful. The small garden is very pretty and the views over the countryside are lovely. The cottage is ideal for families but also suitable for couples as the master bedroom and ensuite is upstairs and there is a double and twin room on the ground floor which share a lovely big bathroom. Our only issue was the mattress in the downstairs double room, which was not very comfortable as we could feel the springs (although we are used to a memory foam mattress at home so maybe are not best placed to judge). A mattress topper would probably help. Overall however it was a lovely cottage and a very enjoyable trip.

We visited the Old Byre during the Easter holidays.

It was beautiful and ideally located to explore so many places. We loved the fact it had a separate snug area to get away from the TV that the kids had on in the evening. Millie was an extra special touch. Thank you

Just perfect in every way!

We stayed with our 2 young children and it was just amazing.The house is bigger than the pictures make it look which was perfect for the kiddos. The location is perfect too!, it’s only a short ride to peppa pig world and around 40 mins to the motor museum. The view from the accommodation is amazing too. We saw 4 deer run past and the children loved watching the cows and saying hello to the horse. 10/10 would recommend and we will definitely be back!

We had a lovely stay at the Old Byre.

Nora and Martin were great hosts and made us feel very welcome, were on hand when we had questions but very much left us to enjoy the accommodation. There was loads of space for us and our dog, the facilities were excellent and having an enclosed and private garden area was perfect. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed, and there were loads of games available for use. The property was easy to access and excellently located for trips into the New Forest, Salisbury or beyond and there is a shop and pub nearby. It's a lovely quiet area with beautiful views but without having to drive through miles of narrow roads to get there. Our only issue with comfort was the mattress in the main bed which, for us, was a bit springy but everything else about our stay was perfect and we would definitely recommend.

We had a very relaxed stay at the Old Byre.

The Cottage itself is beautiful with a lovely kitchen, comfy lounge and lots of quirky details. The little dining room next to the kitchen is well laid out and ideal for dinners and games. Despite the fact that it felt very much like you were staying in someone's home, the entire house was spotlessly clean. Super dog friendly, with doggy towels, blankets, water bowls, baskets and even a basket of toys provided. No doggy smells or hair whatsoever - so also suitable for people without dogs. Kitchen was well equipped with some basics like salt & pepper and oil. Plenty of glasses and plates etc. As the description says - the cottage is located next to a working farm, so if you are looking for isolation and absolute peace & quiet this place may not be for you. I did not bother us however. Location is excellent. Very easy to reach from the motorway, and although technically on the border of the New Forest, you very much felt that you were in the national park. We also had a meal at the nearby pub - The Woodfalls Inn which is about a 20 minute walk through the village, which was also excellent. Lovely owners and overall a wonderful break!

Had a lovely long weekend at "The Old Byre" weather was not good so the log burner was handy and with underfloor heating the cottage was warm and cosy.

Kitchen was very well equipped with just about everything you could need. Bedrooms had ample storage and beds were very comfortable. The owners (who live next door) were very welcoming and always on hand if we needed them. I would really recommend this cottage for a relaxing break and just a chill out place.

We have been spending New Year in country cottages for well over a decade, all of which have been good.

Like these properties the Old Byre's lounge was comfortable and welcoming, its bedrooms were fine (especially the master bedroom) and the kitchen was well-equipped. There were, however, several things that made us agree that the Old Byre was one of our top New Year stays. There was the friendly and helpful, but unobtrusive, owners (who live next door), the very generous pack of goodies they provided for us on our arrival, the log burner in the lounge and the most wonderful Christmas decorations I have seen for a very long time. Overall, perhaps it was that the Old Byre felt like a home rather than just another very comfortable holiday let.

We stay in different holiday cottages a lot and The Old Byre reigns supreme.

A different level. Decorated to a very high specification with enormous attention to detail. Everything you could imagine is catered for. Spacious. Extremely clean and comfortable. Lots of additional attention to detail. A warm and friendly welcome by the owners. Beautiful setting. We can't fault it. It will live long in the memory.

We had a wonderful break at The Old Byre.

It was an amazing place. Everything had been thought out by the owners…..who, although they live next door, were there if we needed them but did not interfere with us at all. I’ve booked quite a few Sykes cottages and this one was certainly the best one by far!

The best holiday cottage I have ever stayed in and would definitely go back again.

Everything that you needed for your holiday was included at the cottage including some lovely "welcome" gifts. The garden is really safe for the dogs and we were right on the edge of the New Forest Park so very easy to find wonderful places to walk.

Absolute perfection, courtesy of the lovely owners, Nora, Martin and their family. The accommodation and facilities were all you could wish for in your own property, let alone a 'holiday home'. The kitchen equipment, in particular, was bordering on luxury. Although there is much to see and do in the area, our aim was to just have a relaxing break with not too much racing about. We couldn't have wished for a better place to do just that. Thank you Nora and Martin. We hope to see you again. Kevin, Penny and Hattie, (the cockapoo).

We stayed for one week with our cheeky pooch and absolutely loved the property.

The owners were very welcoming and genuinely wanted us to have a good time. They made sure we knew we could contact them if we had a problem (we didn't) but otherwise left us in peace. The property is like a home from home (or better!) It's very well stocked with everything you could possibly need for a week away. Lovely days out are close by so no need to spend too long time travelling to attractions. We would highly recommend the property and would definitely return if we come back to the area.

The Old Byre is perfect, big spacious and comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped with everything you could imagine needing. The Old Byre is in a quiet location but with easy access to local attractions, our kids loved visiting Paultons park which is only 20 minutes away by car ( this was recommended by Nora on our first day), within easy reach of Bournemouth, Beaulieu and new forest cycle routes. We had a great time and would recommend this to any young family looking for an active holiday in a wonderful property, run by a lovely couple who really make the extra effort to make your time away feel special. We had the best time at this cottage, it was very much a home from home feel the moment we walked in on the 1st day.

Lots of information about the property, lots of info for what was nearby for dinner etc. Nora and Martin had thought of everything. They were available to help when we couldn't get the top oven to work too, they were just super kind and helpful. With 2 children with autism, this cottage was perfect for them, super calming bedroom spaces, comfiest beds - they were able to relax. The cottage itself is a great distance to the New Forest and made an excellent base for exploring. I honestly couldn't recommend this place more. It really is a secret gem of a place.

Lovely place to stay.

Very peaceful and well equipped. Kind hosts too - went above and beyond. They were always available and never crowded us.

We received a lovely welcome from Nora and her husband.

The Old Byre looked and sounded wonderful on the web site and exceeded our expectations and - believe me - there is nothing old about it. It is super clean and provides everything you may need with top-quality kitchen appliances. It is a very large chalet bungalow with plenty of room for 3 couples. It is a proper family home full of interesting items, and there were lots of board games, books, local information and also toys for our 4 year-old to play with. Thoughts for the future: I took shampoo with me but one of our group expected it to be provided - I don't know if this is usual with such bookings. We did eventually find a bag of part-used toilet rolls on the back of the toilet door but maybe leave a spare one in each bathroom. The friend who had the wonderful upstairs bedroom would have liked a full-length mirror (not sure why because we never went anywhere posh!) I used to organise trauma courses in a London teaching hospital and thought that I obsessively covered everything and Nora's folder of information is certainly a match. She kindly loaned a charger for my mobile and also posted back to me clothes I had forgotten in a wardrobe. The Old Byre is a real home-from-home and I recommend it fully and only wish I could have stayed longer.

Beautiful property with everything you could need for a relaxing family holiday, no matter the weather.

We were concerned about our dog getting through the small gap under the gate, but Martin immediately put that right with some wire mesh without any fuss. It was the same when I asked if he had an adaptor for the TV so we could play movies on our portable DVD player. Quick as a flash he found said adaptor with a cheerful smile on his face. I think you could have asked him for a lump of cheese from the moon and he would have tried to get that for you. Nora was just as friendly and welcoming too. Woodfalls is a great base to go out and explore (Longleat and Monkey World are roughly an hour away!). It was a lovely week at The Old Byre and we would happily go back there again!

We have had a lovely second stay at the Old Byre and this time with close family and we loved it.

As the weather was so hot when we were at the Barn we spent a lot of time outside and that was great. The garden is South facing and has sun all day and there is an awning for shade if needed. Our hosts were very friendly and approachable as always and they are just lovely people. We will certainly be back again and again. It is a great place to stay not far from the open north side of the New Forest which has wonderful walks.

Very nice holiday cottage

This is an amazing property, very comfortable and extremely well kitted out.

A lovely courtyard outside to enjoy and it’s very peaceful - so many birds heard and seen. The owners are next door and the personal welcome and farewell so much nicer than a key box. There is plenty to do nearby and a wealth of books and guides to help with decisions.

We could not fault anything , the cottage is absolutely charming , spotlessly clean , fully equipped with everything you could possibly need and more , set in beautiful countryside with lovely views and Martin and Nora are the perfect hosts, nothing was too much trouble they are extremely welcoming and any questions I had running up to the holiday were quickly answered by Nora . We had a fantastic weekend and our dogs were well catered for as well . Definitely 5* accommodation .

We had a lovely, relaxing short break at the Old Byre.

The hosts are welcoming, friendly and so helpful, exactly what you want in a host. The house is homely, cosy and finished to a high standard, with well-appointed kitchen, dining area and lounge. The suntrap garden is lovely to sit out and have a drink in. The overall setting is beautiful with an open view over the fields, fantastically placed for The New Forest and Cranbourne Chase, whilst also close enough to Woodfalls for easy access to a well-appointed village shop and The Woodfalls Inn which has excellent pub-style food and a very good bar with Local beers on hand-pull. We are looking forward to returning again to explore the area fully. Thank you for your hospitality!

Nora & Martin are very welcoming hosts and have a beautiful cottage, the design is fantastic as it feels homely but also provides lots of space, finished to a high standard with exceptional appliances, they have made sure you have everything you need and some extras too, The location is stunning so peaceful, We would highly recommend staying here

It's set in a quiet area with countryside views but just a short drive to the New Forest and towns. The garden is safe and secure for our dog. The log burner was a real treat in the evenings. The property was perfect for our needs and for our two dogs, who enjoyed themselves immensely. It was cold during our visit, so the log burning stove was particularly welcome. An absolutely amazing property, a beautiful house with everything we could possibly need for a wonderful stay!

The hosts were friendly and welcoming giving helpful local recommendations and proving wine, popcorn along with local eggs, milk and cakeon our arrival. We really felt at home as did our dog with a cosy bed and a stack of towels and throws. Without doubt the best accommodation and hosting we have experienced!

This has to be THE most comfortable well facilitated cottage we have ever stayed in, we couldn't have wanted for more.

Nora and Martin are on hand at all times if any help was needed. The cottage is beautiful and a true home from home. We felt relaxed as soon as we walked in the door and there is truly everything you could need for a cottage stay and enough games to play for months let alone a week. The attention to the small things is what sets this apart from other self catering cottages from pans, plates, cutlery, spices, more mugs than I've ever seen and more equipment for cooking than we have at home, towels a lovely welcome pack and they went beyond to provide for our twin toddler grandsons. Compared to some places we have stayed where there is just enough for the amount of people staying The Old Byre is streets ahead. If only all holiday let's were this good. Thank you Nora and Martin keep up the great work.

Nora and Martin made us very welcome with a variety of goodies. The property is a home from home, very comfortable and tastefully furnished with everything you could possibly need during your stay. We loved the peaceful rural setting and the proximity to the New Forest. Hopefully we will make a return visit one day as this is a very special cottage.

This is a place that I and my family would return to and recommend to others.

The owners have set it up as a home from home, there is pretty much everything that you will need provided for your stay. The location is ideally located to discover both sides of the Solent. The hosts are very approachable and happy to help with any questions. We managed to wear out our two spaniels while walking in the local area.

We had everything we needed, it had every little detail. It's a great location, Mollie, the horse said hello every morning :) I greatly enjoyed having a coffee in the mornings looking at the cows and the stunning views. Nora was amazing, she even got a hat for my daughter on our last day. She loved wearing it at Windsor Castle on our way back home. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes nature and comfort.

Nora and Martin had thought of everything.

The house was immaculate comfortable and extremely well equipped. The welcome pack thoughtful and imaginative right down to cake and birthday napkins (for my husband’s birthday). Everything was new and well thought about. The view from the house was lovely. We spent most meals outside and the only rainy day we spent in Salisbury cathedral. We loved the walks locally and enjoyed drinks and food in the Goat in Downton. We would definitely like to come back.
