    Working away from home, with my 5 year old lab, it's sometimes hard to get exactly what you need. But Fourways delivers on every level. The accommodation is compact, but it has everything you need. The owners really have thought of everything! They have two Internet tvs, Alexa. Kitchen gadget things that I never used. A competent double air fryer, electric hob, microwave and fridge. Worth mentioning there is no freezer and no dishwasher. The accommodation is kitted out really tastefully and everything feels new. Bath robe and slippers were a lovely touch. Room for parking one vehicle. Worth mentioning it can get noisy around 06 30 when the quarry wagons start arriving. The owners provide ear plugs, which was a lovely touch. They really have thought of everything! Adele makes cakes, and sells them in her mini shop next door. These cakes are truly delicious. If you get a chance, try the mini Bakewell, my god, best I've ever tasted. In fact, try all her cakes! The owners are very very friendly and super helpful. Rob phoned the Crown pub one night to book me a table, just to make sure they could fit me in. The Crown incidentally is a great pub by the way. New owners. Nice grub. Homemade lasagne is lovely. The bar staff are good fun and friendly. Dogs welcome. This was hands down the easiest two weeks of my working life. I've travelled the length and breadth of the country, for 15 years and it's rare to find a gem like this.

SETTLE

Malham 6 miles; Skipton 17 miles; Kendal 25 miles.

The bustling market town of Settle lies at the south west rim of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, nestled beside the largest outcrop of limestone in Britain - a region of scars, cliffs, caves and potholes - amongst some of the most picturesque scenery in North Yorkshire. Tuesday is market day in Settle, when the square is filled with stalls offering a wide variety of crafts and goods. The market place is surrounded by local businesses, the centre being dominated by The Shambles, an historic three storey building with shops on two levels and houses above, and the Town Hall. There is a good selection of restaurants and pubs and a public swimming pool. The Victoria Hall has entertainment and other activities such as folk nights throughout the year. The famous Settle-Carlisle Railway crosses some of the most beautiful and inspiring upland scenery in the country. Natural attractions such as Malham Cove and Gordale Scar are within easy reach, as are the nearby Dales towns of Skipton and Malham. Settle is in the midst of excellent walking country and is a good base for touring the Dales, the Lake District and the Forest of Bowland.
