  • "This property is ideally situated to explore the beautiful surrounding Yorkshire countryside & villages."

We found it to be extremely well kept and has a "welcoming" feel, and two country pubs are within easy walking distance! All in all, we highly recommend this cottage for a delightful stay in Wharfedale.

Thanks for your 5* review. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "The only problem was that we didn’t realise that the next door neighbour had access to the rear of our cottage."

He wasn’t a problem but it would have been nice to be aware of this.

Thank you Sheila for your 5 star review. It is great that you enjoyed your stay at Fellside. As you note our neighbour occasionally accesses his back door through the patio outside the rear of our cottage. This is mentioned in the details about the cottage on the website. Property Owner

  • "The property was clearly a much loved family/holiday home and had a really nice presentation."

The kitchen was well equipped although the saucepans were very very heavy to carry once they had water and food in them. The stove and generous use of fuel throughout the stay was wonderful, particularly as we would not have been able to purchase any locally if we had only been provided with an initial basket. The bed was very comfortable. The garden area has been nicely fenced at the back, which gives peace of mind to dog owners ( ours are well behaved and trained labrador and spaniel) but if visitors have small or reactive dogs they need to consider that it is a post and rail fence and there is a lovely young family next door . We loved our stay here at Fellside and would hope to visit again

Dear Amanda Many thanks for your glowing feedback- I am so pleased that you enjoyed a lovely stay at Fellside and the Dales. I am glad that our generous wood and coal provisions kept you warm and that you found the bed comfortable. The kitchen pans are from Le Creuset so they are heavy but are of very hard-wearing cast iron quality! We recently upgraded back fencing making it fully enclosed for owners to allow their dogs out from the back door, so we will look to enhance our offer to make it suitable even for smaller dogs- thanks for your suggestion. DECEMBER 2023 UPDATE: Back garden wood fencing has now been enhanced with wire so that even smaller dogs are fully protected from neighbours gardens. Property Owner

Plenty of room & very pleasing decor. Having the enclosed garden at the rear is a bonus with our dog. In a lovely area. The wood burning stove was great as it was chilly in the evenings.

  • "Cosy, comfortable, well situated cottage with well equipped kitchen and beautiful gardens."

We enjoyed the wood fire and the beds were comfortable. Wifi very poor, conservatory full of flies and the downstairs (under stairs) toilet is difficult to access.

Thank you James for your overwhelmingly positive comments about location, comfort and facilities inside and out of Fellside. Now that warmer weather is here we will of course ensure that conservatory windows are opened. The downstairs toilet is a bonus, not the main bathroom which has been fully upgraded recently. I am sorry that you experienced weaknesses with WiFi, mostly we have had positive feedback about it, but I am sure that you appreciate that it’s strength does vary in such a rural location. Hope to welcome you back to Fellside Cottage soon. Update January 2024 we have fibre optic installed at the cottage. Property Owner

  • "We all loved our 12 night stay at Fellside in March, the cottage was warm, cosy and well-equipped."

It was great to be able to take our two spaniels with us and the local area had lots of beautiful walks, on the fells and the riverside. The garden was enclosed, which was reassuring. Plenty of logs were provided for the wood burner. It was also within easy walking distance of two welcoming local Dales pubs. All in all Fellside is an ideal place for a quiet escape.

  • "We had a lovely stay."

The cottage is clean and well equipped and in a good location. Both of the local pubs were lovely. We were disappointed that the rear yard leading to the garden wasn’t fenced and the fence between the two rear gardens was very flimsy. The front garden isn’t fenced either meaning the dogs couldn’t freely use either garden. We were also woken up and kept awake on three nights by number 4’s dog continually barking. A bit of a shame as it would stop us returning to this property.

Lovely to hear that you had a comfortable holiday at Fellside cottage. Thanks for your feedback regarding the gardens; we have now addressed your point about enclosed access straight from the back door and improved the fencing. Since your visit we have been fully booked and we have been carefully monitoring situation with regards to the neighbour's dog, and I am pleased to report that haven't experienced any pattern of disturbance, so I am confident that our guests can enjoy a peaceful stay at Fellside. Lots of extras provided such as wood for the log burner, dishwasher tabs, utensils for barbecue. Guidebooks and maps of the area were also appreciated. Despite a warning in the arrival pack about poor WiFi in the house, we found it to be excellent with good coverage and speed. The village of Appletreewick is lovely and well provided with 2 good pubs both doing food. The New Inns is dog friendly inside too. A great place to enjoy and explore Wharfedale and the Yorkshire Dales. We had a wonderful time!

  • "Lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings and enjoyed a fabulous holiday in spite of unpleasant experience with the owner."

Unfortunately we were let down by the owner who'd promised to supply us with kindling for the wood burner which they mention in their advertisement. (We'd only had enough for the first evening we were there and the second evening there was none left and we couldn't make a fire. The owner called us to let us know that she was getting her cleaner to deliver some the next day). Unfortunately we returned exhausted from an 8 mile hike that evening looking forward to making a lovely fire to find that the kindling hadn't been delivered. We called the owner to find out what had happened. Her explanation was that her cleaner had 'let her down' and the only thing she could suggest was that we drive out to a place called Threshfield around 5 miles away and buy some kindling ourselves! This was around 7.30 in the evening! When we pointed out that we'd travelled from Suffolk to stay there she said in quite a haughty voice that she'd try and ring the cleaner again and get him to deliver some the next day. Thankfully when we returned from another long walk the next day the kindling had been delivered. That evening the owner called us to make sure the kindling had been delivered and apologised for letting us down - which we greatly appreciated. The owner then asked us if everything else was alright. - As it happened that morning we'd tried to use the only can opener provided which unfortunately was useless and I'd nicked my hand on the tin trying to use it. - So in answer to her question we apologised for perhaps sounding 'picky' but mentioned the can opener. To which she suggested we go next door to the neighbour and borrow theirs!! When we said that we didn't really want to do that - she again replied in an extremely haughty tone of voice: 'Oh well I'm sorry you're having such a dreadful time' - and PUT THE PHONE DOWN ON US!! Really? This unhelpful and quite frankly - hostile attitude from someone who has decided to provide a holiday facility to people we feel is totally unacceptable - especially when their holiday makers have travelled so far to stay and paid handsomely for the privelege. It's a shame about the owner's attitude because we would potentially have re-booked here but suffice to say we'll be staying somewhere else next time.

We are very sorry that the kindling ran out during your stay. We organised a new delivery of kindling and logs as soon as we could but recognise that running short inconvenienced your holiday. We have bought another can opener as a back up. We are sorry for any misunderstanding in communication, but are pleased to note that you enjoyed your holiday at Fellside. Property Owner

  • "Good cottage in a lovely village."

Parking for 3 cars is too tight (or not clearly marked where 3rd car can go?) and although garden area is fenced in, there are open walkways from the house to the garden where children or dogs could escape. That apart, we had a great week and would happily book again if in the area.

Thank you for your feedback. We agree that the car parking area is tight for 3 cars, but they do fit if parked in a stonehenge formation Property Owner
