The Annexe

This is our second stay at the Annexe.

The views and surrounding areas are gorgeous and we are close to some lovey places to visit. The local station is not far so we jumped on the train to visit Kirkby Stephen where it was a beautiful country side and the viaduct was stunning. The Annexe was comfortable, the bed is cosy but unfortunately this time there was a few issues, there was crumbs left around the toaster and in the fridge, there wasn't any washing up liquid or hand wash, there was only half a toilet roll. We only had a hand towel each and one bath towel each which is not really enough as we shower every day. There was two bottles of water left as a welcome pack which I thought maybe a bit mean but maybe that's just me? The last thing was as I kneeled on the floor in the bedroom to pick something up I'd dropped, I saw a sock under the bed from a previous family? I thought the bedroom obviously hadn't been fully cleaned? I don't know why the sudden down turn? It wasn't like this last year? I was a bit disappointed. This saying, we may probably end up staying again at some point.

Nice quiet location, ideal for where we wanted to visit.

Compact and bijou, bathroom downstairs bedroom upstairs so beware! Small kitchen but we managed. Great value, very pleasant hosts. Would certainly consider returning.

The Annexe is small but comfortable and well equipped.

Perfect for a couple or a solo traveller. It might be a small thing but I was very pleased to find a functional bread saw in the kitchen as well as washing up liquid. The WiFi was occasionally bit flakey but mostly useable. I didn't like the bedding but that's really a matter of taste rather than a criticism, I prefer plain cotton.

This was our third stay over a few years. A very peaceful countryside setting and a good central location for visiting other places of interest. Accommodation very clean and well maintained in a secluded location around the rear of the main house, with a patio area overlooking the fields. Lovely to sit out in the evenings.

Very nice place to stay; quiet, quick to heat up.

We only needed the gas fire to heat the place. Roger.

We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

Very clean, warm and cosy accommodation in a quiet location with countryside views. The Smart TV and having a freezer were a bonus. Very friendly owners next door, who were available if needed but not intrusive. Good location for walking especially with the Pennine Way nearby. All in all highly recommended as a base in this area.

We had a great time.

The Annexe is a find.

It is compact but has everything you need at a more than reasonable price point. Conveniently placed for exploring Bradford, (an amazing place with loads of history). Must see buildings include The Cartwright Hall, The Industry Museum, The Science and Media Museum as well as Riddlesden Hall (National Trust). Maybe we chose a slack time but we were not caught in a throng of other curious people. Then of course (our third time) Saltaire. So keen were we on this that we went twice. The Ian Bleesbey photographic exhibition took me back to childhood. Fabulous.

Lovely little cottage in a beautiful location.

Cottage very well equipped and cosy and perfect for a couple. Great pub in walking distance and great location for visiting nearby towns.

We really enjoyed our stay.

Quiet and comfortable. Owners around but not intrusive. A good base for us to see friends and family and enjoy the countryside. It felt cold when we arrived but warmed up during our stay.

Cottage was compact but not too small.

Found it to be comfortable and warm with good facilities. The only things which could be improved were the provision of instructions for cottages appliances (as the only ones we could find were for the microwave) and the information pack seemed a little sparse regarding local facilities, amenities and shops.

The property was lovely.

We went during a heatwave and the property was always cold and not warm. The bed was super comfy and spacious. It's in a great location with walks and not too far from places.

Great little place for a week away at the Yorkshire Dales, central to visit lots of places including the Bronte Parsonage and many heritage railways plus some lovely villages.

Great for walking with our dog and just an hour from the red squirrel sanctuary at Snaizeholme which is one of the reason for our visit. Cottage had everything we needed and we will be booking again for next year thank you.

Lovely little cottage in a great area.

Ideal for little trips to many of the lovely villages and to a few cities. Only drawback was the comfort of the sofa bed to sit on everything else was excellent

Overall, the holiday cottage was very good, sited in an excellent location on the fringe of Glusburn and was really well equipped.

The owners were on site and were very welcoming. The bed was very comfortable and the bedroom had plenty of storage space. The kitchen was extremely well resourced. We did, however, find that the sofa, that was actually a pullout bed, to be uncomfortable to sit on for any length of time. The dining table and accompanying chairs were also very small and flimsy with the chairs being very uncomfortable to use. Other than these two issues, we enjoyed our week in the cottage very much.

One very very tiny issue, maybe a hand towel ring to the left of the bathroom sink. Would absolutely stay again.

Just come back from our recent stay, owners were lovely.

Annexe was nice and cosy ideal for 2, set in a beautiful location. Only minor issues were no hook in bathroom to hang towels, if taking a big dog there is a cattle grid at the entrance to the farm and we had to carry our collie over it, as he wouldn’t go anywhere near it. Would highly recommend to anyone wishing to stay in the countryside, it was nice and peaceful.

Decking area is a sun trap with lovely views. Owners very friendly.

We thoroughly enjoyed our honeymoon and waking up to seeing sheep outside our window in the surrounding fields and, in the evening, seeing wild baby rabbits chase each other, playing. The annexe was clean and cozy but, came with some faults which could be improved upon. *Shower was lovely and warm and also hot if needed but had very little pressure. *One of the settings, the first setting on the left on the oven, didn't work, so it remained cold until we turned the nob to another setting. *The sink cold tap in kitchen, leaks during and after use. *The sofa bed was not enjoyable to sit on as the middle sinks in so felt like we was sitting on a steep hill and had to put body weight on far left or far right to stop sofa from swallowing us up alive

We had a really lovely time at the annex.

Great place to stay. We had everything we needed and it was so convenient to visit Grassington. Haworth. Ilkley. Otley etc. We had a fab week. Our only negative comment, was that we both found the sofa bed too low. All in all fab place to stay.

This amazing little cottage was beautiful.

Clear information on how to get your key when you arrived. Everything was clean and tidy coffee tea to use and fresh water in the fridge. Owners lived next door and didn't bother us at all. Just be careful when decking is wet as I nearly slipped over when walking out the door. We enjoyed having a drink on the decking in the evening which was lovely. We all was very relaxed. The bed upstairs was really comfy and we slept great. Signs around cottage about what you shouldn't do eg no dogs upstairs which understandable. Shower wasn't great but it did the job. All in all a fantastic little cottage I would 100% recommend

Beautiful cottage, everything we needed , including iron and board .

My only issue was the sofa bed in the living room. I have bulging discs and it was quite low so not the easiest to stand from as the back of the sofa was soft . Highly recommend this place, the owners were in the house next to ours but never intruded , available if we needed assistance. Fabulous views from the living room. Very warm and cosy , would be fab staying in winter .

We had the most wonderful 5 nights away in The Annex.

It was super clean and altho it is small it was more than adequate for.our needs. The weather was amazing which helped. Lots of areas.near by to.explore and walk which we loved. Skipton Castle worth a visit and Skipton woods with the wild garlic. We made.good use of the decking area which is a real.sun trap. We loved sitting listening to the Curlews and other birds. Lots of Jacdaws entertaining us. The lambs in the field were a real.joy to watch and hear. One slight gripe.was that there was no handsoap in the kitchen or.bathroom.....we bought some.so.wasnt a big issue and probably an oversight. Other slight gripe was only 1 bath towel.each..... normally have bath and hand towel each. But really I am nit picking. We would love to come and stay again. Xx

A really lovely little country get away, Felt very relaxing and peaceful.

Well positioned for travel into skipton which was only 15 mins away.

Lovely, quiet, secluded little property.

We named it The Dolls House, but don't be put off by that. It was cosy, warm and comfortable and had everything we needed for a relaxing break. The main door definitely had a knack to it and after a week I still hadn't mastered it, but hubby managed fine.

Really clean property, with good Wifi (we used phones and tablets only) which was in a perfect location for us.

It was quite a chilly windy time when we stayed and The Annexe was lovely and warm with the fire in the evenings. The main bed was large and really really comfy with good quality bedding. Kitchen was cosy and was well equipped too. We had to contact the owners regarding the sofa bed as we couldn’t work it out and they responded very quickly - the issue was it’s designed so it doesn’t lie flat, so we had opened it correctly it just did not look right. Son didn’t find it very comfy as a front sleeper, and used the camping mat we had brought instead. It was however a very comfy sofa. The water pressure in the shower was a little on the low side but the water temp was fine. Bathroom just lacked a couple of hooks to hang towels/dressing gowns on. Owners friendly and helpful.

Lovely views and a relaxing and quiet place to stay.

Very comfortable bed and we appreciated the food and drink that was left for us.Just a slight issue was a bedroom window that would not close and we ran out of toilet paper and had to buy some as we were left very little. Overall though very good place to stay.

Fantastic place.

You get everything you need and you are surrounded by the beauty of Yorkshire nature. You are provided with all facilities and get access to explore what Yorkshire has to offer. We spent there a week and we are already planning to come back. Strongly recommend.

Another great stay at the Annex.

It is such a cosy and comfortable place to stay and the hosts were so friendly and helpful. Sean cleared the snow from paths around the property one morning, so thoughtful. We plan to return again.

The Annex is an ideal property to tour the Yorkshire dales, the Dog and Gun is an excellent dog friendly location for evening meals, the staff are very friendly and the food of a very high quality.

The Annex was warm, more than enough room for 2 people and their dog, just put a couple of comfortable armchairs in the lounge rather than the bed settee and it would be perfect.

Amazing little get away, we went as part of our mini moon.

Great location, great views, easy access to towns nearby. Clean & cosy. Only thing that let this property down is the shower it wasn't very warm and wasn't much power, other than this the property was perfect.

Recently stayed at the Annex, must say it's a lovely cottage with everything you need there, beautiful countryside very tranquil, the bed was super comfortable to.

It was just a little to icolated for us, I was hoping for dog walks were I could let him off his lead but it was all farm land fenced off, so my dog didn't get to run around. Lovely stay though.

Excellent location for exploring Yorkshire and the Lake District.

The Annex was clean, comfy and quiet.

The cottage was very clean and is well situated for lots of local places to visit but just enough out of the way to be peaceful and quiet owners were very welcoming and friendly would definatley book again

The annexe was lovely, beautiful views very comfortable bed and very close to Crosshill which had all the facilities you could need.

The Annexe had everything we needed for the week we spent there.

Great location for us and many lovely walks in the area. The proprietors were helpful and welcoming. No hesitation in returning to the annexe.

I had a fabulous week in the Annexe, it was clean, comfortable and in a perfect location for the dales.

There were walks from the door for our dog and such a friendly welcome from Sean and Helen, who made us feel at home all week. We will be back thank you.

A wonderful stay at The Annex, such a comfortable and cosy cottage that was perfect and just what we hoped for.

Brilliantly located in a beautiful setting, it was lovely waking up to the sheep and seeing the sunset from the living room window, yet just a stone’s throw from Skipton and all the great local amenities. We would love to come back!

Peaceful and handy for the Dales!

The Annexe was very comfortable and the peaceful situation is wonderful.

Skipton, Howworth and Bolton Abbey are nearby and the help with my luggage was greatly appreciated. A covering for the bathroom window is needed and a way of charging an electric a toothbrush which a has a two pin charger . A lovely place to stay. Sue

Fantastic stay at the annex, home owners lovely

As every time I stepped out it was raining so I returned home a day early.

The car parking spec was avery long way from the cottage. The heating was not on in the cottage, the downstairs had underfloor heating so that was fine but hadn’t spotted the bedroom radiator.

We had a lovely stay at the Annex.

Perfectly located to visit a relative nearby. It had everything we needed for a cosy stay. Owners were friendly, welcoming and helpful. We would happily come back again.

Very enjoyable stay peaceful area with nice views.

The cottage was very clean and warm. Seating adequate but would of preferred settee but that's just me I guess getting old need more comfort.

Both Skykes and the owner of the property were so efficient, professional and I had an amazing stay and would definitely go back!

Lovely location very clean everything you need included, Bed very comfortable slept like logs so peaceful .

Only little downside was the sofa is uncomfortable and dim lighting, we stayed over Christmas but I dare say in summer would be lovely sitting out on the decking and lighting wouldn’t be an issue . we went to relax and that’s just what we did perfect chilling place Thank you

It was beautiful place to stay, nice and quiet.

Would recommend for those who really need the piece and quiet.

As a 'mature' couple with a dog, we really enjoyed our stay in the Annexe.

The location is peaceful, relaxing and ideal to use as a base for the surrounding area. However, Glusburn Park (just up the road) is also a fab place for families to visit with children of all ages and also great for an evening/morning dog walk too. There is so much to do and see in the vicinity, including a trip to Skipton, the Castle and surrounding woods. Excellent parking close by which is very well priced at £4.50 for the whole day in 'peak times'. A visit to the Stanforth Pie shop is a must too. The tastiest pork pie I have ever tasted at such reasonable prices too, you will not be disappointed! The facilities at the Annexe are excellent - and although compact, the space is well utilised, beautifully clean and has everything you need during your visit. The website photographs give an accurate depiction of the facilities on offer. We enjoyed watching TV on the sofa bed in the evening by pulling it out into full position, so that we could both relax in the lounge room. Although the Annexe is 'attached' the main house, this was not an issue, as privacy is well thought out in terms of the space available. The hosts were friendly and hospitable without being intrusive and we will definitely stay again when visiting the area. Also noteworthy, we enjoyed a couple of fab meals at the Dog and Gun pub just down the road. Highly recommended.

Quiet , pretty location, but only 5 miles from Skipton, gas fire in lounge soon heats property.

lovely decked area at entrance. Some hooks on the back of the bathroom door could be helpful for hanging clothes when using shower. Dog and i loved our stay.

We had problems with wasps, think they are nesting above eves over kitchen area

All the surroundings and views excellent, a lovely sun trap seating area outside .

Our complaint was that the sofa and chair was not comfortable with no arm rests. The lighting in the lounge was dingy and the walk to the Annex was not ideal, a lot of stones which was bad to walk on , we had to carry our small dog over them. Only a small amount of grass immediately outside as a notice that is private although the grass area at side ok. Large dogs would run all over. Thank you.

Good outside decked area with beautiful view. Very quiet, so ideal for a peaceful stay. Host friendly and welcoming. Nice area and near local facilities should you need them. Short distance to Skipton and other places of interest. Lovely holiday destination.
