  • "What a fantastic and impressive property and garden in a beautiful, quiet location."

Had everything needed for a short break. Easy access to walks, attractions and local pubs. We use cottage’s often and this one is definitely on the list to return to. No issues at all and very happy with everything. Thank you to the owners as think this is your first year.

Hi Thank you so much for your feedback that does mean a lot to us with this being our first year. Property Owner

  • "Having just returned from a 3 night break with our friends all I can say is fantastic."

Orchard house is beautiful and well equipped and very comfortable and had the most beautiful views from the house. I am so glad I have found this property as we intend to return, I understand it’s the owners first year of renting out and we are so very pleased they did as this is a gem of a property and location.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review we very much appreciate it. Property Owner

  • "Directions require updating."

If they included the cream coloured stone gate posts, it would have been much easier to find. The property is ideally situated with plenty of room for two cars. Good sized rooms but the furniture in the living room is tired and requires renevation. Water in bathroom shower was too hot and could not be adjusted. Light in on suite flashing. House nice and warm, plenty of equipment in the kitchen. Lovely garden and summerhouse.

Thank you for your feedback we have updated the directions with the cream posts, however the what3words link on the directions does get you to the property. The water in the bathroom shower can be adjusted by using the middle lever to turn down the temperature. Property Owner

  • "A nice property in a lovely garden ."

We found the preperty a bit cold but could got the owner to, turn the heating up . We could not find anywhere to hand the washing up but found out later there was a pull line attatched to one of the trees . The kitchen sink has been damaged and will be replaced at the end of the season We would recommend the Wenslaydale Heifer at the other end of the village as it serves the best Roast beef and Yorkshire we have ever tasted .Leyburn is the nearest town 5 mins away but the local shop has daily papers from 8.00 .For children under 10 The Forbidden corner is only 5 miles away .We would recommend Mount Grace Priory as worth a visit

Thank you for your feedback and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

The property

Orchard House sits in the heart of West Witton, a traditional Yorkshire Dales village where stone-built cottages, rolling hills and proper country pubs set the tone for a slower, more grounded pace of life.

This well-presented home offers a generous base for families or groups looking to enjoy the Dales without faff or fuss, just straightforward comfort and plenty of space to unwind.

Step inside and you’ll find a kitchen/diner designed for easy mealtimes, whether you’re rustling up a full spread after a day on the fells or simply sitting around the table with a morning brew.

The sitting room offers a warm, relaxed setting for evenings in, complete with a woodburning stove that takes the edge off those brisk Yorkshire nights.

Upstairs, three well-furnished bedrooms await: two doubles, one with its own en-suite, and a twin ideal for friends or younger guests.

The main bathroom adds a touch of indulgence with its freestanding bath and walk-in shower, while a separate cloakroom keeps everything running smoothly during busier mornings.

The private garden gives you a quiet corner to sit out, share a meal in the fresh air, or take in the surrounding countryside, the sort of landscape that practically insists you lace up your boots and get exploring.

Parking is provided, though you can easily walk to the village shop and a welcoming pub, both close enough to pop out without turning it into an outing.

Beyond West Witton, the wider Dales open up in every direction.

Leyburn is easily reached for independent shops, cafés and a traditional market, while Middleham tempts you with its castle and racehorse heritage.

Hawes is another rewarding trip, known for its dramatic scenery, local produce and the ever-popular Wensleydale Creamery.

Orchard House offers a grounded, comfortable base in a village that feels rooted in the best parts of Yorkshire life, a place to switch off, settle in and enjoy the Dales at your own pace.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £350.
