Our stay at the barn couldn’t have been better,a beautiful location with fantastic views all round.

The property was specious, immaculately clean and equipped with everything you could possibly need for your stay,John and Chrissie were the perfect hosts and lovely to talk to. Watching the ducks,the chickens and a couple of friendly turkeys provided great entertainment.Perfect location for seeing the dales and would definitely recommend.

We found the Barn fantastic everything was very clean and very easy to settle in John & Chrissie were also fantastic easy to speak too they were both lovely.

A lovely setting half way up the hill looking over the valley 15 minutes to walk down to the pub 25 to walk back after your meal & a couple of pints

The Barn is a delightful retreat in a beautiful part of Yorkshire, overlooking the charming town of Pateley Bridge.

This wonderfully converted barn has everything you could hope for in a holiday accommodation — spacious living areas, comfortable seating, and an exceptionally cosy bed. The kitchen is thoughtfully designed and fully equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher, cooker, and microwave, making it ideal for both short and extended stays. One of the loveliest features of The Barn is the duck pond, which is visited each morning by a family of ducks. Along with the ducks, cockerels and hens often wander across the patio, while the occasional squirrel and blackbird add to the charm and peaceful atmosphere. With hardly any traffic noise, the tranquillity and harmony of the surroundings are truly relaxing. We had only been there four days before deciding to rebook The Barn for next year — which says everything about how much we enjoyed our stay.

We loved everything about The Barn, great location, easy to find and easy access to Pateley Bridge and the reservoir.

Stunning scenery from every window. The Barn itself was spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable so that we didn’t mind staying in and relaxing on a rainy day. We enjoyed watching the ducks and chickens. John and Chrissie were good hosts, providing a nice welcome pack and they were on hand to deal with any problems. But we never had any problems. We would love to return next year.

This was a lovely holiday accommodation for 2.

The weather had turned fairly cold by this time in November but we did not need to alter any of the heat settings because the property was comfortably heated from our arrival till our departure. The views from the property were just lovely and the welcome from the local ducks and chickens was quite wonderful! Everything seemed to be provided within the accommodation. The Barn was most attractive internally and very practical. My wife and I were greeted on day 1 by the owners and it's difficult to think how our stay could have been improved. Absolutely immaculate and in a wonderful location for a break in The Dales. Very spacious, extremely comfortable and like a home from home with everything you could want or need. If you want a relaxing, quiet break in the UK for two,and a base to explore Nth Yorkshire, this is THE place. Lovely, friendly hosts. We will definately return in 2026.

The Barn is a lovely home from home in a tranquil setting with panoramic views all round. It is comfortable, warm and has everything you need. We also found it very central for all the tourist attractions and a relatively easy stroll into the town of Pateley Bridge. We would definitely visit again if in the area.

Everything was excellent. Lovely welcome pack, a lot of thought has obviously gone into items in the property such as the cafetière, the mini torches left by the bedside, the dvd player, the wealth of information supplied on places of interest including cafes and restaurants. The view is outstanding and the little pond with the ducks, hens and pheasants provided lots of amusement. Friendly and informative hosts. Ooh I’ve thought of something negative - the weather wasn’t too good!

The living area is spacious and inviting, perfect for relaxing after a day exploring the local area. Cleanliness was clearly a top priority, as the entire property was spotless on arrival. The layout is generous and well thought-out, providing a perfect mix of comfort and practicality. Whether you're cooking, unwinding with a book, or simply taking in the views, it's a wonderfully peaceful and restful setting. We had an amazing stay and genuinely didn’t want to leave. It’s clear how much care and attention has gone into making this a special place, and we wouldn’t hesitate to return. Highly recommended – you won’t be disappointed!

Chrissie and John have created the perfect getaway, complete with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. The barn is the perfect location for a relaxed rural retreat or as a base to explore the Nidderdale area. We love watching the wildlife through the patio doors, the ducks are very entertaining. .. just as good as ever, the cottage is so comfortable, getting out of the bed in a morning was difficult... John and Chrissy are lovely people, helpful and great to chat to. We spent times watching the Squirrels running about with apples they had taken from the tree, the Ducks on the pond, birds having a bath, chickens roaming about, the views are brilliant from most of the windows, time went so quickly, we are thinking of a third visit, never done before. Arriving steeply uphill via Pateley Bridge and the (well described) narrow and somewhat single track access route to the location of The Barn, where we were warmly welcomed by Chrissie and Johnnie, thankfully in warm sunshine.

Instantly “wowed” by the accommodation and spectacular views. Even the views in the sometimes heavy rainy days that followed were magical - reflections of classic dale’s scenery!! A great week and lasting memories of out stay at The Barn; and fascinating conversations with Chrissie & Johnnie.

Fabulous location with stunning views.

The barn, farmhouse and surrounding gardens are beautifully kept with numerous potted plants and flowers. Wild ducks on the pond next to the patio, a few hens scratching about and bees in the orchard! Inside the Barn there is everything you need to feel right at home and all maintained to a high standard.

Amazing property & owners too. Everything you needed for a comfortable stay with the local wildlife at your doorstep each day. Perfect location only a short walk down into the village where we enjoyed many cafes, some hidden down little alley ways and local shops too.The waffle & Pancake shop was delicious. The River Nidd walk was a very enjoyable walk from the village following the river which starts behind Wildings cafe and runs down to an open lake. We have already recommended the Barn to friends and family and would definitely return again at some point in the future. The surrounding scenery was beautiful and was ever changing with the weather. The wildlife brought many hours of entertainment as we sat and watched ducks playing on the pond, and hens and pheasants observing us through the patio door. This is a wonderful property surrounded by the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside.

The accommodation was extremely clean, warm and comfortable and had a well equipped kitchen. It is ideally situated within a short distance of many interesting towns and villages. The hosts were extremely friendly and keen to ensure we had everything we needed. My wife and I enjoyed the Barn enormously, Chrissy and John were brilliant hosts, there if you needed them but not in any way intrusive .

The Barn itself was lovely and clean with every modern convenience for a comfortable stay. Best of all was the view over Nidderdale, and what a view it is, spectacular and breathtaking. I asked John if we could take it home with us, his reply was “sadly not, the only way to see it again is to come back” which we will certainly be doing.

We had a great week at the Barn.

With hindsight, I regret not booking the property for two weeks. A huge thanks to John, Chrissy, and Torva. They made us feel very welcome. Apart from supplying us with fresh eggs from their own hens, John and Chrissy also provided us with cucumbers, courgettes, and tomatoes that they cultivated themselves. AND John gave us a jar of honey from his own bees. Thank you once again

Once you get used to the spiral staircase, the barn proved an excellent holiday venue.

There were so many varied and historical walks nearby, and interesting places to visit. The views from the lounge window were spectacular. The welcome basket proved most inviting after a long journey, and it was good to meet our welcoming and helpful hosts and see round their garden.

We had some lovely relaxing evenings with a glass of wine watching the ducks come and go to the pond. The owners could not have been more friendly and helpful and helped make this a great first holiday for us in the Yorkshire Dales.

Lovely walks all around the cottage as well as a nice high street with independent shops and plenty of places to eat. A lovely duck pond in front of the patio provides entertainment all day long.

The barn is wonderful, not only for the amazing views but it is a perfect location to explore the Yorkshire dales.

We were impressed with the cleanliness, space, comfort and overall quality standard. A warm welcome from the hosts and a few local goodies was well received. The spiral staircase is easy to navigate and adds a quirky feel to the place. Very comfy bed and nice hot shower, great for tired muscles as the area is rather hilly! This cottage is extremely well equipped and maintained. We were blessed with perfect weather and sitting out on the patio watching the ducks/ wildlife was a treat. We enjoyed visiting local towns, including Pately bridge, Skipton and Settle and there are lovely walks locally or further afield. Knaresborough, Ripley castle and Fountains abbey are definitely worth a visit. We have stayed in many cottages and would rate this very highly and absolutely worth a return visit!

A beautifully converted barn in a stunning location.

It was warm, well equipped and comfortable. The living area was very spacious, with fabulous views over the countryside. The shower was large and powerful, and the Wi-Fi signal was excellent. Off road parking and a lovely patio area by the pond, with amusing resident ducks. The hosts John and Chrissie were very friendly, yet gave us privacy throughout our stay, and had provided a welcome pack and helpful information literature on local short walks and tourist attractions. Highly recommended.

The Barn is an absolutely beautiful holiday home, there is nothing negative to say about it , the owners are lovely people and great hosts, the fresh produce and snacks was very welcoming and a lovely gesture.

I'm sure I'd have no trouble spending a week ( or more) sitting on the patio watching the wildlife and absorbing the fantastic scenery. The layout internally of the barn works really well and has everything you need to cater for yourself . The Barn is perfect

The situation of the barn is stunning with wide views across Nidderdale from every angle. Close enough to make the amenities in Pately Bridge easy to access yet peaceful and quiet above the town. Perfectly situated for walks and a wide range of places to visit. The accommodation is spacious and well furnished with everything you need to make your stay a five star experience. The Barn could not be faulted, we loved it.

Very comfortable accommodation with excellent facilities - and superb views.

Area was ideal for a week’s winter getaway - plenty of good walking (even with storms Dudley and Eunice) and enough other sites and beautiful market towns and villages to fill the rest days. Also plenty of excellent pub grub, takeaways and cafes in Pateley Bridge.

The Barn is a delightful cottage with spectacular views across the surrounding countryside.

The patio is an ideal place to relax with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and watch the ducks play in the pond while the chickens roam nearby. Chrissie and John are excellent hosts and made us very welcome and relaxed. The welcome basket of goodies was much appreciated by us. The cottage location is ideal for long (or short) country walks without the need to drive anywhere. We thoroughly recommend The Barn and we would definitely love to return in the future. The property has all of the amenities that you should need, which are all of a high standard. The Barn overlooks a small pond which has a number of ducks and it can be quite amusing watching them. A beautiful barn conversation with everything we needed and in a most idyllic location. The views were amazing and we loved just sitting on the patio admiring the scenery and enjoying the peace and quiet. Thank you to our friendly hosts John and Chrissie for a wonderful stay. Would love to return.

It was a beautifully and sympathetically converted barn, with great views and every comfort provided.

The owners were around but not intrusive, happy to help with local knowledge for eating out. The ducks and chickens made for great entertainment.

We really enjoyed our week at The Barn, it was the best self catering property that we have ever stayed in.

The views were amazing and it was so spacious and comfortable. The owners Chrissie and John were very friendly and helpful but respected our privacy. So much wildlife to observe and so many places to visit. Perfect

We were able to relax the moment we stepped through the door, gorgeous views, so peaceful.

The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful. The Barn was immaculate, comfortable and home from home. In a beautiful setting looking over the Yorkshire Dales surrounded by the chickens, ducks and other wildlife it was so relaxing sitting next to the small pond whilst enjoying a glass of wine. The welcome pack and fresh eggs was an absolute treat and most welcoming. Every small detail had been thought through and the Barn felt incredibly COVID safe - thank you. There was a very good phone and wifi signal for anyone who may be wondering about this - thankfully I left work at home. Yes I would recommend to friends and family and would definitely book again.

Absolutely amazing, Superb accommodation and John and Chrissie are the perfect hosts.

The Barn was a wonderful place for a relaxing holiday .

The Barn itself was 5 star , everything was top quality , just beautiful . The hosts are so welcoming and friendly . Pateley Bridge is close to many beautiful places with lots of walks close by . There are 2 great butchers which sell fabulous pies ( we preferred Kendall’s ) . There are a few pubs an Indian restaurant and a lovely Italian . Amazing place - highly recommend

One of the best cottage holidays we have ever experienced. The quality and finishing touches in The Barn are top notch. Fantastic views and a feeling of space and quietness. The cottage is about a mile up hill from the centre of Pateley Bridge but is easily walkable. The location is ideal for visiting the Dales, York and Harrogate. We will be back and won’t hesitate to recommend to friends.

The accommodation was Furnished to a very high standard and thoughtful gestures left in the form of fresh eggs, milk and Yorkshire goodies.

It’s like a home from home retreat and the perfect place to relax and admire the fabulous views and surroundings. The friendly and welcoming hosts really have thought of everything to make your stay perfect.

Chrissie and John are excellent hosts and provided a lot of little extras.

The cottage is amazing and extremely clean and comfortable. The village is very pretty and has all the required conveniences you would need. It's in a great location for travelling around the Yorkshire Dales and we would highly recommend a stay here.

... word's just can't do it justice!! Everything we needed to enjoy our stay, definitely luxurious. A lovely welcome hamper of freshly laid eggs, fresh coffee, luxury cheese biscuits and cake were a great start to our break. Chrissie and John are the friendly owners who are there to help but respect your privacy at the same time. They keep the garden and grounds to an exceptional standard... can't wait to return.
