2 The Square

Cottage was great.

Sadly the parking was not. It did not appear as tight on the reviews.My husband dented his car on the metal post and as a result then left the car in the NYDP car park which, as being disabled, was really too far away for him to walk, and very inconvenient. However, the property was excellent, everything provided.

Really enjoyed our stay at No.

2. Ian and Christine had ensured we were comfortable and everything you could think of was to hand even a hairdryer in each of the three bedrooms. Ian kindly called in to explain where everything was and gave us a brief history if the cottage, a wonderful touch. Thank you both we will hopefully return soon.

A lovely cottage, with all of Grassington on your doorstep, and a fantastic base for walking or sightseeing in the dales.

This is our second visit to 2 The Square and, as before, we have had a wonderful time there.

The cottage is so lovely. It is charming, beautifully furnished and equipped, and the hosts Christine and Ian do everything they can to make your stay special. It was hard for us to pack up and come home at the end of our week! The car parking outside is invaluable.There is also a parking permit provided for a nearby car park. Grassington is a beautiful village with lots going on. This area of the Dales is an absolute gem. Can't wait for our next visit!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, we were made welcome by Ian the owner firstly by text before we arrived then in person who told us a little of the cottages history.

The cottage is well equipped clean and comfy it's ideally situated on the square and having a parking space was great, you do need to parallel park in front and there was enough space for my Ford Puma. Plenty of cafe's and pubs to try we especially enjoyed Cobblestones, next door at no 3 and Tapas next door at no 1.

Clean, tidy, well maintained property. Very helpful owner who was readily contactable. Instructions on entry and leaving the property excellent. Happy to recommend for a stay.

The perfect cottage in perfect location!

The big bowl of fruit and milk left for us was very much appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 2 The Square and would highly recommend. Ian and Christine were wonderful hosts, thank you once again for a wonderful week in your cottage!

We have just had 2weeks at 2The Square at Grassington.

It was brilliant. We were very lucky to hit on the heatwave. The accommodation was so cool in the day. We were able to sit out at the rear of the property at night. Ian gave some history of the cottage which was good. Filming for All Creatures Great ad Small was taking place for 2 days, which was great to watch from the front bedroom. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and loved the cottage. Thank you to Ian and Christine for a wonderful stay. We will be back.

2 The Square was a perfect base for a walking holiday with friends.

The cottage has been beautifully restored and was spotlessly clean. It had all the amenities we would want - the outhouse with washer, dryer and toilet is a great addition. Ian was very welcoming and super responsive, quickly sorting out a minor issue with the dishwasher for us. My car didn't fit in front of the cottage, but the car park is two minutes away, which was fine with the provided parking permit. I managed to move the car to a spot the square for the last night which made packing up easy. We were there during filming, but didn't find it too intrusive at all. It was actually fascinating watching it all happening. The crew took a lot of care to minimise disruption. Everything in the village is incredibly convenient. The Nisa supermarket over the road is huge. The new tapas restaurant next door was fantastic (and not at all noisy in the house) - shout out for the churros! Cobblestones cafe on the other side was lovely with good food and coffee. Just avoid the wine and cheese shop opposite - eye-wateringly overpriced. Grassington is a fine base for walking, and we had no problem filling up a week with varied walks from the house. Over Embsay Moor to Skipton and the bus back to Grassington was a stunning hike when we wanted a break from climbing over dry stone walls.

The accommodation met our expectations, and we are familiar with the village and surrounding area.

However, we believe it shouldn't be rented out during TV filming. With a 6:30 am start on two days, we ended up leaving a day early. We have yet to receive any response regarding this issue.

Great location - right on the central square in old Grassington.

On the doorstep of amazing walking routes. Immediately opposite groceries and bakery plus cafes etc. Lovely and cosy old cottage. There were 4 of us - and there was enough room but not spacious. Loved being there though and the area is fabulous. The owners went out of their way to ensure we have what we needed.

I booked this cottage based on the great reviews and wasn’t disappointed.

A number things to add that I’m not sure others mention are: 1. Although the parking spot is not for large cars, I enjoyed using the free car park pass for the public car park, for 2 reasons. 1) I could slow charge my electric car in the evening 2) I enjoyed the short walk from the cottage to the car park. 2. The TV is a smart TV so you can watch programmes on catch up or login to your Netflix account etc. We loved watching ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ and seeing the lovely Grassington houses we recognised. 3. The location is absolutely fabulous. The 2 front bedrooms and sitting room overlook the Main Street which is lit up with lovely hanging lights - looks even more magical at night 4. Great to have seats outside the back door that are under cover so you can remove your walking boots before entering the house and pop them in the outdoor utility room. 5. There’s a mini supermarket just across the road to buy milk, bread, fruit, vege etc. 6. We loved the delicious food and the friendly staff in the Devonshire Arms pub which is also just across the road from the cottage. 7. The shower was great and although the bathroom doesn’t have windows, it is well lit and very clean and fresh. 8. Ian the host is available for any questions.

Absolutley first class accommodation , in a wonderful location , woukd highly recommend.

2 The Square was very well provisioned and spotless throughout. Thoughtful touches too such as the tea, coffee, biscuits and fruit bowl. Our hosts, Ian & Christine, were kind and attentive and made us feel very welcome. Thank you!

The property is very old but has been made comfy and cosy by the owners.

It is very well equipped and its location right on the square is perfect for access to the many pubs, shops and restaurants in the village. You have the option of walks from Grassington, or access to lots of places close by, in Wharfdale and beyond. The property comes with a parking space at the front. However parking is quite tricky, even for a small car. The owner provides a parking permit for the National Park car park 2 mins away and probably best to unload your car and park here for your stay.

Our family of five spent a very happy week at this delightful cottage in the middle of Grassington village.

The house is very well maintained, charming and extremely comfortable. We had everything we needed and would certainly return. The owner, Ian, was very helpful and made sure that everything was as it should be. There were lovely homely touches - we really appreciated the fruit, biscuits and fresh flowers. A truly gorgeous place to stay - highly recommended.

We would particularly like to thank them for all the little extras( in addition to the easter treats ). Grassington is such a lovely base for a holiday in the area and means you don't need to drive out for meals as there are plenty of options on the doorstep. Walks from door( try the route over to Hebden and back along the river Wharfe ) and lovely villages nearby( Burnsall is a particular favourite ). Luckily we just missed the filming for one of our favourite shows( All Creatures Great and Small ) as I'm sure it was rammed. One negative: the bed on the top floor was quite uncomfortable and there isn't a great deal of sound insulation.

Very comfortable, clean and with all the facilities needed. Ian and Christine were great hosts and took the trouble to check in with us to tell us about the cottage and make sure everything was ok. Added bonus of seeing the next series of All Creatures Great and Small being filmed while we were there! We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.

We were delighted to stay in this lovely cottage.

The owners had left some fruit, biscuits and milk to welcome us. Everything we needed was provided, and we settled in very quickly. The parking space was very welcome, as the village parking was always crammed, and shopping, cafes, restaurants and pubs all very close. It was good also to meet the owner on day 1, to give us a little more info. A lovely place to stay, we do hope to return again. One of the nicest places we've stayed in!

Lovely cottage with everything you could need and more.

Comfy beds, well equipped kitchen, lovely courtyard garden for outdoor space, smack bang in the middle of village square so everything you need and more. The owners Ian and Christine were so helpful, from Ian meeting us to explain keys, amenities etc, what a lovely gentleman. Would definitely stay here again. Grassington as always, locals friendly, lovely village with everything you could want and more. 2 bistros, 1 indian restaurant/takeaway a host of coffee shops and gift shops, 3 lovely pubs, post office and convenience store.

Highly recommend this cottage situated in the village square with a lovely partially covered back garden to sit and enjoy the morning sun.

Very comfortable, warm and cosy with a well equipped kitchen, home from home. Christine and Ian welcomed us and were on hand to deal with any questions and gave a very interesting history of the cottage. We loved the cottage and the village and will definitely book again.

This is one of the nicest cottages we've stayed at.

Although the location can get very busy, once you were inside the property it felt very quiet and cosy while still having all the amenities just a stone's throw away. The parking space was very useful as the village can get busy at times. The owners were excellent at staying in touch with us and making sure we had everything we need, and the cottage was really well thought out. The location was fantastic for exploring Yorkshire. We had a fantastic week and hope to be back.

The cottage was in a lovely spot in the centre of Grassington absolutely perfect location.

Ian took the time out to come and visit us on the first day and gave us a overview of the cottage facilities but more interestingly the history of the cottage. Ian was a perfect gentlemen and it was a pleasure to meet him.

We had a very warm welcome from the owners. Enjoyed the extras, milk, biscuits, fruit, flowers, etc., really appreciated after long journey. Everything you needed and spotlessly clean. The best sleep we have ever had, so comfortable beds. The parking right outside, in the centre of Grassington, was a bonus. We hope to return.

Everything you could possibly need had been provided with loads of extras like fruit, wine, flowers, biscuits, real coffee etc etc. Ian the owner popped in to make sure we had everything we needed. We had an amazing week at The Square.

Really appreciated the warm welcome of biscuits, milk, fruit, tea etc. The owners made every effort to equip the cottage with everything you need, and we had a visit from the owner who gave us ideas on what to do, and explained the fascinating history of the cottage. We really enjoyed sitting out in the covered seating area out the back whether rain or shine, very relaxing, and took us away from the hustle of the main square. The cottage is a fantastic base to explore Yorkshire Dales National park, some fantastic walks and breathtaking scenery. Gorgeous food and local shops and cafes etc were very welcoming. Loved it

Perfection Cottage - Location - Village - Walks - Owners Simply Perfect

The cottage is absolutely charming, spotless in its presentation and has everything you could want or need for a relaxing getaway and more.

The owner Ian was a charming and attentive man who ensured that all our needs and comfort were assured. The location is very central in Grassington with it's own parking space, and is an ideal base for exploring the Dales. The village has ample pubs and restaurants in this quaint setting, and there is a cheap local bus service for other nearby towns and villages Highly recommended. We will return.

The location is fabulous- in the centre of Grassington near super pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops. It is also great as a base for travelling all over the Dales. Having a designated parking space outside the cottage was like having gold dust as parking can be a bit difficult in the village. We can't praise the cottage highly enough. It's beautifully furnished and decorated and very comfortable. It feels spacious and has a lovely little private courtyard at the back. There were so many extras and lovely touches the owners provided -we felt at home from the minute we walked in. I feel we were very lucky to have found somewhere so special and we can't wait to go back.

It is surprisingly spacious and comfortable. The owners have thought of everything you could possibly need. We were very grateful for the fruit, flowers and lovely ginger cookies. This is a fabulous cosy cottage right on the Square in Grassington with its own parking place.

A convenience store, several pubs with restaurants and gift shops are right on the doorstep. You can walk and cycle straight from the doorstep. The cottage is spotlessly clean with so many home comforts. A lot of thought has gone into this property and making it welcoming for guests. There were fresh flowers, a large fruit bowl and biscuits, ground coffee, tea bags, sugar, milk, washing up liquid, brush and cloths, drying up cloths, dishwasher tablets, washing powder, oil, salt, toilet rolls ie all those basic things that you need to just feel you can get on with your holiday. The kitchen was well equiped, there was an outhouse with washing machine, small dryer and small freezer and a small seating are to catch the morning sunshine in the back yard. The decor and carpets, storage and shower room, electric sockets were all ideal. The owners Ian and Christine checked in on us to make sure everything was fine and they were lovely. I can highly recommend this cottage and we are already planning our return.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at No 2, welcomed with a full fruit bowl, tea, coffee, milk and biscuits.

We’ve stayed at Grassington before, so knew the how busy the square gets during the day, at night becomes a quiet, quaint place. The coziness and warmth of the cottage is endearing, together with good quality bed, linen and towels made the stay very comfortable. It felt home from home! I loved the bathroom toiletries! Parking the car was a little challenging the first time, but soon learnt the knack and grateful a parking spot is available, as parking in Grassington is a premium! It was a nice to meet the owner who checked that we were happy and even gave us a little history of the cottage. Definitely this cottage comes with our recommendations!

A lovely house in the very centre of Grassington.

Parking in front of the house is a bonus as there are not many parking spaces around. The house is very comfortable and warm and has plenty of extras. Plenty pubs and restaurants within a few minutes walk. I would certainly recommend this place.

Very helpful owners. Only negatives for us, hence 5*-, were that the car park space was too compact for my driving skills to cope with (not explained most suitable for smaller cars) and slower wifi than would have wished for.

What a cosy, comfortable and clean cottage in an ideal location right in the middle of Grassington.

It's so lovely that we didn't use our car once during our stay and found plenty of things to do in the local area - the river walk to Burnsall was a highlight but sadly we didn't see any Kingfishers although we kept bumping into other people who had! The cottage owners are a delight, so thoughtful and considerate.

What a little gem 2 The Square is, situated right in the heart of Grassington, everywhere and everything is so convenient, added to this is, is dedicated parking, a bit of a luxury in such a busy village. The weather was a little unkind, but returning to this cottage and its comfortable atmosphere made my week worthwhile. I am definitely booking 2 The Square again in 2023, many thanks to the owners for making my week enjoyable.

An excellent cottage in the centre of Grassington.

All facilities top class. The only thing we could not work out was how to turn on the fire in the lounge room.

Fantastic location, great cottage, fully equipped with everything and much more than you need.

Beds and pillows very comfortable. Lovely fruit basket on arrival plus fresh flowers in the cottage. Excellent communication throughout regarding bins and the filming that was taking place that week. Would definitely recommend if anyone wants a holiday cottage in Yorkshire.

The cottage was clean and very well equipped. The location could not have been better, perfect for walking and having a leisurely stroll around the lovely little independent shops of Grassington. We tried all of the drinking establishments and can say they all serve a top notch pint! Our 3 screen-obsessed children also had a great time as the cottage had WiFi and a smart TV. Some wonderful ice-cream shops too! The hosts were wonderful and left some lovely welcome touches to the property and checked up to make sure everything was OK during our stay. Would definitely recommend this property and would book through Skyes again.

A lovely cottage, extremely well equipped and very centrally placed in lovely Grassington.

The hosts were very helpful and there were some nice welcoming touches in the cottage when we arrived: bowl of fresh fruit, flowers in the sitting room etc. Would very much recommend this property which is in the delightful village of Grassington (Darrowby), and has a great selection of pubs, shops and an extremely good chippy! Walks directly from the cottage for ramblers and hill walkers alike. Would definitely return!!

2 The Square Grassington is a lovely property.

The owners have made the property very warm, comfortable and welcoming. The kitchen facilities are excellent, and we were really appreciative of the use of the outhouse. The property is very conveniently located, and it's great having a carparking space right outside the property - it certainly made unloading and loading the car very easy and non-stressful! Would definitely stay here again!

2 The Square was well-equipped, spotlessly clean and a joy to stay in. Parking is at a premium in Grassington so it was a delight to be able to park with ease right at the door. The owners were very welcoming and helpful and had prepared the property beautifully with lots of thoughtful little touches which were very much appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Cottage location within the village square is great and makes it very interesting - convenience store, post office, wine shop and several places to have coffee/snack very close at hand.

The village is in a very good part of the country with lots of excellent walks. Cottage very clean with excellent facilities. Good/easy car parking at the front of the cottage.

Ian even tried to get us a part in the filming of 'All Creatures Great and Small' that was being filmed right outside the cottage. Sadly not to be and it looks as if our acting careers are going nowhere!

The cottage is in a lovely spot in the centre of the village.

It is really comfortable and well equipped. Anything you may need is there. I always take essentials such as handwash, dish cloth, tea towel, spray cleaner, as I always usually have to go out and buy something. This time there was no need. The owners did everything to make us comfortable and we really appreciate the care they took to do so
