  • "It was a lovely cosy cottage even in the damp weather - central to the village and its own parking space which was a bonus."

The cottage was brilliantly equipped with everything that you would need - in the little things like tea bags, coffee, hot chocolate (which was lovely) - loved the little touches like a packet of chocolates and a pint of milk left for us. It was our first short break in a long time because of illness and it lived up to every expectation. Thank you for this.

Thank you for your lovely comments. Shame the weather was rubbish. Hope to see you again soon. Property Owner

It's very comfortable and well equipped - especially for cooking. Comfortable king size bed with good mattress, and big fluffy towels. Lovely location for walking from the door and for the town. And a good bus service to Skipton and dales. It was our second time in this cottage. And the owner is helpful and friendly.

Thank you for your kind comments. So pleased that you enjoyed your holiday in The Dales. Hope to see you again soon Property Owner

  • "Manna cottage is a lovely cottage ."

However the locks on the back door and the out house are difficult to undo . Maybe people should be made aware of the town hall clock striking every hour especially through the night. The bed was hard and not very comfy to sleep on . It is in a good position in the village. A little more comfort would have been nice.

I am sorry that your stay at Manna Cottage was not perfect. Unfortunately the wet weather has swollen the doors thus the locks are a bit stiff but this has been looked at by a joiner. The locals never notice the clock striking the hour but will ensure that a note is put in the visitor information book. The bed - this is a matter of personal preference. Property Owner

  • "The kitchen was rather compacted, only about 10 inches of work surface."

Living room, bedroom and bathroom were a good size. Shower was good. The garden belongs to the next door house, so can't be used. It was bit uncomfortable to have people walking by in the garden. The picture on Sykes is the front of the house from the garden not the entrance you use. Parking was a bit difficult. There is no allocated space.

Sorry that your stay at Manna Cottage was good as you had hoped. I did explain to you when you rang, regarding the parking, there is an allocated parking space directly outside the cottage. We are very lucky to have this space as all the other cottages down the street have to park in the public car parks. Property Owner

It was obvious from the moment we opened the front door that it was very homely, we ate out every night but the kitchen was well equipped to cook a meal for two. The host was very helpfully with answering any questions we had prior to our stay. We had a lovely weekend and will defiantly be going back.

We expected a bit of noise at night but it was so peaceful, just the sound of the town hall clock chimes. The cottage is perfect for two with adequate facilities. I personally found the bed too hard and therefore uncomfortable, my husband had no problem sleeping! The bed linen and towels were all of very good quality. We love Grassington with the offer of wonderful walks from the doorstep, combined with very good eateries, we shall definitely return.

Spacious lounge with efficient gas fire for chilly evenings (had to get on hands and knees for controls). The bedroom was also spacious with good quality beddng on comfy king size bed. Shower was good, always plenty of hot water, fluffy towels. The kitchen was very small (half width counter), but we did manage, it had all necessary appliances - microwave, fridge, washer/dryer (outside) and plenty of crockery/cutlery. Parking immediately outside the door was convenient, we only used the car one rainy day to visit Skipton. We loved walking from the door. The owners obviously look after this property very well. • "Nice small cottage, well positioned in the middle of the village."

There are some negative points. The kitchen is tiny with limited work space, the settee in the living room is small and very soft you can't sit on it for long, there are alternative chairs provided. There isn't any outside space. This is clear in the description but what isn't clear is the garden in front of the cottage belongs to the next door neighbour, who hangs her washing over the railings in front of the living room window. There is parking for one car but access is tight and you have to reverse out on to the road, this can prove tricky with on coming cars and pedestrians, there is alternative parking in the village. This cottage is a good base for exploring the Dales both by car and on foot.

The property

A delightful stone-built terraced cottage in the heart of Grassington, one of the most popular villages in the Yorkshire Dales.

An 18th century former lead miner's cottage, it provides an ideal base for a small family or couple wishing to get away from it all and enjoy a wonderful break in this ever-popular area.

In a quiet corner of the village yet only a stone’s throw from the vibrant centre of the village, the cottage is packed with character and charm; guests will be delighted by a warm and cosy sitting room with a gas-fired stove set in a beautiful stone surround, as well as a lovely window seat, exposed stone walls and original ceiling beams; an ideal room in which to relax and unwind.

The small kitchen adjoins the sitting room and leads out to a quiet lane.

Upstairs, the charming king-size double bedroom boasts pretty views over the adjoining gardens and across the village.

There's also a separate shower room available.

This cosy and romantic cottage is just a one minute walk from the famous village centre, with its old curiosity shops, excellent local pubs, good eating establishments and, of course, the old cobbled square where the annual Dickensian weekends are a real show-stopper.

Add to this the annual Grassington Festival and the close proximity of many of the Dales' famous tourist locations and you've a holiday cottage not to be missed.

A cottage and village full of character and charm, certainly a great combination and one not to be missed!

Situated on the River Wharfe, with the extensive Grass Woods to the north of the village, this is a superb walking area. Down dale is Bolton Abbey with the Abbey ruins, the Priory and the famous “Strid Walk”. A little further is the elegant town of Ilkley, overlooked by the famous Ilkley Moor.
