“Nice small cottage, well positioned in the middle of the village.”

There are some negative points. The kitchen is tiny with limited work space, the settee in the living room is small and very soft you can't sit on it for long, there are alternative chairs provided. There isn't any outside space. This is clear in the description but what isn't clear is the garden in front of the cottage belongs to the next door neighbour, who hangs her washing over the railings in front of the living room window. There is parking for one car but access is tight and you have to ...

This is clear in the description but what isn't clear is the garden in front of the cottage belongs to the next door neighbour, who hangs her washing over the railings in front of the living room window. There is parking for one car but access is tight and you have to reverse out on to the road, this can prove tricky with on coming cars and pedestrians, there is alternative parking in the village. This cottage is a good base for exploring the Dales both by car and on foot.

The property

A delightful stone-built terraced cottage in the heart of Grassington, one of the most popular villages in the Yorkshire Dales.

An 18th century former lead miner's cottage, it provides an ideal base for a small family or couple wishing to get away from it all and enjoy a wonderful break in this ever-popular area.

In a quiet corner of the village yet only a stone’s throw from the vibrant centre of the village, the cottage is packed with character and charm; guests will be delighted by a warm and cosy sitting room with a gas-fired stove set in a beautiful stone surround, as well as a lovely window seat, exposed stone walls and original ceiling beams; an ideal room in which to relax and unwind.

The small kitchen adjoins the sitting room and leads out to a quiet lane.

Upstairs, the charming king-size double bedroom boasts pretty views over the adjoining gardens and across the village.

There's also a separate shower room available.

This cosy and romantic cottage is just a one minute walk from the famous village centre, with its old curiosity shops, excellent local pubs, good eating establishments and, of course, the old cobbled square where the annual Dickensian weekends are a real show-stopper.

Add to this the annual Grassington Festival and the close proximity of many of the Dales' famous tourist locations and you've a holiday cottage not to be missed.

A cottage and village full of character and charm, certainly a great combination and one not to be missed!

Grassington is one of the most charming villages in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Traditional stone cottages and shops are clustered around the cobbled market place, offering exceptional shopping facilities for a village of this size, with a monthly farmer’s market offering a mouthwatering range of organic and homemade local produce. Situated on the River Wharfe, with the extensive Grass Woods to the north of the village, this is a superb walking area. Down dale is Bolton Abbey with the Abbey ruins, the Priory and the famous “Strid Walk”. A little further is the elegant town of Ilkley, overlooked by the famous Ilkley Moor. Up dale are Kettlewell and Buckden boasting spectacularly beautiful limestone scenery.
