  • "We had a wonderful holiday in this lovely cottage."

We were lucky to have booked it for the weekend they had the 1940s event. We loved the fact the train was right at the back and enjoyed waving to the passengers over the weekend. There was a beautiful walk alongside the beck to Oxenhope Station and we caught the B3 bus to Hebden Bridge, crossing the Moors. We were sad that we had to leave two days early, as we missed seeing the Bronte Parsonage and riding on the train. Besides that it was a perfect holiday.

  • "Beautiful place, would definitely recommend this cottage as the perfect place to stay."

Views of the steam train chuffing past and waving to the passengers took us back to watching the railway children. Welcome package was a bonus and the wine went down well. The cottage was well equipped, warm and very comfortable.

  • "We had a lovely pre-Christmas stay at Chuffing Cottage and hope to return again soon!"

The modern cottage is located in a quiet residential development in Haworth and we were thrilled to hear and see a steam train go ‘chuffing’ by behind the house, within a few minutes of arriving! The excitement never wore off and we rushed to the window every time we heard the train coming - such a lovely treat for kids and adults alike! Well equipped, the cottage contains everything needed for a comfortable stay and we loved the beautiful welcome pack which featured some nice chocolate treats that were enjoyed by the children, as well as snacks, bread, milk and a bottle of wine; a very nice gesture to welcome visitors! Haworth Main Street with its quaint shops and eateries is only a short walk away - but worth noting it’s up a rather steep hill (as those who know the area will be aware: it’s all part of the charm). There’s a large ‘Co-op’ at the entrance to the development which is easily the size of small supermarket and can provide enough food and variety for a weekly shop on arrival. Inside, Chuffing cottage is much more spacious and attractive than the pictures on the site suggest, and the double height living area offers a lovely place to relax and watch tv. The property was warm, had plenty of storage space and also many towels etc available in the bathroom. We took advantage of a visit to the nearby Bronte Parsonage which is a lovely place to experience for those who have an interest in literature or history. We also went for a journey on the ‘Elf Express’ KWVR steam train and were joined by our family who live locally - for what turned out to be a fabulous Christmas treat! Overall the cottage was a fabulous base to visit our Yorkshire relatives and explore beautiful Haworth, and we hope to return again soon!

  • "We love to cook while away, so a few more casserole dishes and pots with lids would be great."

Lovely cottage. But no books or games you could play. A dvd player but no dvds, just to add add that quality to holiday. Also 5pm arrival and 9am departure, just a little cheeky when you pay for the week.

  • "We were more than happy with our stay at Chuffing Cottage."

The cottage was very clean , the bed extremely comfortable it really did exceed our expectations and the welcome pack was very welcome. The cottage is located on a very quiet development within walking distance to the centre of Haworth. After reading the visitors book we could see that you had responded to positively to the comments made. It was a good base for us to see family who we have not seen because of Covid 19. We will be back, thank you.

It's hard to see from the photo in the brochure but it's a light and airy modern property with everything you need for a really comfortable stay. We really enjoyed the steam trains running alongside the cottage and were even lucky enough to have good weather too - fabulous.

We really appreciated the welcome pack. Only improvements would be a mirror in the downstairs bedroom and either a clothes horse or washing line. These would make it perfect.

  • "We spent a very comfortable week at Chuffing cottage."

It is ideally situated to explore the beautiful Yorkshire dales. The cottage was very well equipped with everything we needed and it was a bonus having the electric charger for our car. We appreciated the provisions left for us on our arrival and found the steam trains on the weekend an enjoyable sight. The only negative was I think we may have misunderstood the info re provision of towels. There were only two guest towels and two small hand towels provided in main bathroom and one hand towel in the downstairs loo. This however did not detract from us having a wonderful stay and I would definitely return and recommend to others.

Despite sideways rain occasionally we walked every day and were kindly and swiftly supplied with a clothes airer to dry our gear which was much appreciated. We cooked every evening in the well equipped kitchen, made use of the excellent wifi to keep up with work and enjoyed Netflix. A peaceful and homely place to recharge the batteries - thank you.

  • "A delightful modern and cosy 2bedroomed accommodation."

The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need for a pleasant stay. The property is exceptionally clean bright and airy. Although currently busy with building works during the day it is quiet and peaceful in the evening and night times. It is well situated to explore lots of interesting places in the local area and nearby Yorkshire Moors and Dales. The passing steam trains and babbling brook to the rear of the property adds to its charm. We were greatly impressed by the owner’s flexibility as we needed to change the dates of our stay at short notice and they accommodated our request without issue. A useful suggestion would be to have a separate information folder about local attractions and information etc A visitors book would also be beneficial to read and record comments and recommendations. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property to our relatives and friends.

  • "This was one of the best holiday cottages I’ve ever stayed in."

It was all clean and shiny, the kitchen was well equipped, the WiFi worked, there were plenty of towels. We liked seeing steam trains going past behind the house. I will say that the towel rail in the bathroom was a bit too small to hold more than one large towel so if four people were showering and hanging up wet towels there wouldn’t be space.

If you are looking for peace and tranquility you will be very disappointed! The property is light, bright and airy but very overlooked. We were disappointed that although the property is advertised as having Netflix and Freeview we were only able to get it one evening out of seven. Despite these things we did enjoy our holiday as there are plenty of things to do and places to go - Howarth itself is somewhat disappointing but you don't have to go far to find better.

  • "Chuffing Cottage is a little gem."

It is modern living in a very comfortable environment. It is very bright & clean and has all the facilities one may need. The owner provides a generous 'welcome package' which is much appreciated. The cottage is ideally situated for visiting many interesting places in 'Bronte Country' and for taking a nostalgic trip on a preserved steam railway where, incidentally, the original film of the Railway Children was made. We have no hesitation in highly recommending Chuffing Cottage and will certainly visit again.

About the location

Skipton 13 miles; Hebden Bridge 8 miles.

The small village of Haworth was home to the famous Bronte sisters, who were inspired by the surrounding moorland to pen their novels, which have become classics of English Literature. Haworth is a village that time almost forgot, with its myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets creating a wonderful period atmosphere, all set against a framing backdrop of countryside famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights as wild, rugged and barren. Nearby, the famous Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, provides a lovely day out with a regular service to the old village of Oxenhope. The area abounds with popular places to visit, including the Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the National Railway Museum in York. The market town of Skipton, often fondly regarded as the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is just a short drive away, and also within reach are elegant Harrogate and vibrant Leeds and Manchester.
