The area is so picturesque and would definitely recommend the Grouse inn pub literally 5 mins away from the cottage. The owner Leanne messaged on the morning of our stay and also during to make sure everything was ok. Thank you we loved it

  • "Very comfortable cottage."

Well equipped throughout; kitchen is well planned for a small space. Obviously no room for a dishwasher or washing machine. Only thing I would have liked was a clothes airer - worth bringing if you're coming by car and want to use the hot tub a lot. Packed lots of extra towels (need to shower before and after using the hot tub) and swimming costumes but it was hard to get them dry. The information sent out in advance of arrival was really useful. Travelled there by public transport - taxi from the Oakworth Steam Railway station was only £5. About 20 mins walk to the bus stop, frequent service to Keighley every 12 minutes, and hourly buses to Haworth. Can also get to Hebden Bridge by bus from Haworth. Beautiful walks directly from the cottage; the West Yorkshire countryside is stunning.

  • "We both loved this cottage, it was super comfy."

The sheep at the kitchen window,I'm sure one winked at me. The area is stunning. After a good day out, the hot tub just relaxed us both, then a good night's sleep in a very comfortable bed. The little things made this cottage. Great hosts.

  • "We absolutely loved this cozy, high class, countryside setting, cottage."

Especially looking out the kitchen window to see our friendly sheep. There are nice dog walks right outside the door. A really nice restaurant right up the road within walking distance. Unfortunately, our trip was cut short due to personal reasons but I would highly recommend this wonderful space, complete with hot tub. It is close to so many holiday opportunities with the Bronte museum within a short distance. You will have everything you need, all the comforts of home and then some. Leanne, the owner is especially helpful and attentive. Would love to come back! Full marks for value for money. Just fabulous!

  • "Had a great stay at Pickles Hill Cottage, it is such a lovely cosy cottage and the hot tub is just what you need after a long walk!"

There’s also a pub just a short walk away and the lovely village Haworth which is only a 5 min drive or 40 min walk away. Leanne gave recommendations of places to visit on our welcome message which was super helpful, as we booked a last minute getaway so hadn’t planned what we were going to do. She even left use some brownies on check in and let us check out slightly later which was really appreciated. Would definitely recommend the cottage to family & friends. Thanks again for a lovely stay!

  • "Worst holiday cottage we have stayed in."

Could not open key box on arrival.carpets stained, had no heating or hot water had to hunt the boiler eventually found it in the laundry room turned the boiler up.the laundry room was a fire hazard stuff all over the floor.the double bed was noisy everytime you moved.contacted the owner leanne with the complaints who is not a decent person who will listen.we actually stayed 3 nights instead of 7 worst unhappy holiday ever seeking £300 refund.

Oh dear. Someone is upset they can’t have a refund because they had to leave early. Had you rang to say you had a boiler issue we would have come and resolved that quickly (just like we did when you couldn’t open the fully functioning key box ) rather than breaking into the laundry room yourself, just saves you any hassle. Not sure where the carpet stains were on inspection, but I can confirm all looking good there. I’m glad you enjoyed the wine & cake. Best wishes Leanne Property Owner

  • "This is an absolute gem of a cottage in a gorgeous location - the hot tub really is the cherry on the top."

We had a fabulous stay here as a family of 3 (one 4 year old child) and can't rate the cottage highly enough. It was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for a great holiday. The cottage itself feels very rural - especially with the sheep watching you cook your breakfast through the back window - and is small enough to feel cosy but big enough to house 3 people comfortably. There is a 30 minute walk into Oakworth with lovely views, and our little boy managed the walks nearby very well. The local pub - The Grouse - is also top notch and only 10 minutes walk down the road. The hosts are also very kind and helpful. Honestly one of our favourite places we have ever stayed in the UK.

  • "Prior to posting any review, I read others’ reviews to see if their experience mirrored mine."

Pickles Hill Cottage has only been around for a relatively short time, hence the reviews are fewer than one might expect. In anticipation of this review I read the reviews last night, and I refreshed them this morning to discover there are now fewer to read! Missing are one or two from 2020 in which, although being as positive as those now present, had a couple of suggestions to make things better. Nothing that would put anyone off, just an observation/suggestion. I don’t know why this has occurred. I don’t know if it’s Sykes or the owner that’s responsible, but I do know that there appears to be some pages missing from the Visitor’s Book in the cottage.

About the location

OAKWORTH

Haworth 1 mile; Skipton 10 miles.

Oakworth is a small Pennine village just a short drive from Haworth, overlooking the Worth Valley, made famous by the filming of the classic 1970 film version of E.E. Nesbitt's novel, The Railway Children. Besides its close proximity to Haworth and the moors, Oakworth has an attractive ornamental park, and is within easy reach of the town of Keighley. Nearby Haworth was home to the famous Bronte sisters, who were much-inspired by the surrounding moorland. Haworth has a myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets creating a wonderful period atmosphere, and all this against a backdrop of countryside famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights. Nearby, the famous Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, makes a lovely day out, with a regular service to the old village of Oxenhope. The area is full of popular places to visit, including the Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the Museum of Rail. The market town of Skipton, Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is just a short drive away, and also within reach are elegant Harrogate, and vibrant Leeds and Manchester.
