"I'm sure that in its day this property might be sought after, but right now it has more than seen its day."
On entry your first impression will be that you have found a palace until you explore a little. The main bathroom shower is filthy and the wc cistern is continually overflowing into the bowl. The ensuite wc has a loose seat and cover with dirt and grime from probably years of lack of proper cleaning. TV system is hit & miss with dirty and sticky remotes. The kitchen equipment is dirty and the dishwasher didn't work due to lack of salt. The ovens are unusable due to dirt and grime, also far too complicated for a holiday let. Very little info for the equipment left so you have to search to find it for yourself. No welcome pack where one can normally find all the info needed. The outside was even worse, pathways with years of weed growth, some around 3 feet high, picnic furniture out of the ark and again dirty. Such a shame as the property is set in some of the best countryside in the nation. We were there for a family wedding so booked the week to include a short holiday. We left two days early largely because of the lack of maintenance, dust and dirt and sheer discomfort. We did find a visitors book among the outdated rubbish left lying around. This dates back 2014 to present and you will find that I have only concurred the above comments made previously, clearly getting worse as the years go on. I question if Sykes take any notice of these comments as this is not the first time we have been let down with dirty properties.

"First impressions, excellent."
After that needs some T.L.C. Some facilities not working, shower in on-suite bathroom, main shower in second bathroom. Property guides for places of interest out of date, no info on what to do at end of stay. Not the usual attention to detail one expects from Sykes.

"If you want peace, luxurious furnishings and a bed and settee comfortable enough to want to take them home this place is perfect."
Small moans, it had been empty and could have done with a dust and vacuum. The outdoor furniture needed washing. We've still booked for next year

Needs info/instructions on how things work and also what to do with rubbish eg. bottles can etc.
A bit of advice on how to find head for the Snooty Fox and turn right, providence lane, then woodlands follow the rd round.

"We had a lovely week in Yorkshire the weather was kind and we did a lot of walking and celebrated my 70th birthday on Friday."
Only criticism is of the Sykes published details telling us the way to get there. Your details say turn left after house no 10 and it should be house 19 turn left abrol farm is then to the left again. I suggest you change the instructions. But I don’t think we could have had a better week we loved the cottage and its location

"Better information about getting to the property, We ended up on a wild goose chase and the instructions were rubbish."
The address given wasn't anything to do with the property and the owner will be annoyed if everyone who is going to the property knocks on his door. Sykes couldn't be contacted and we felt let down by the company.

"More specific directions required on how to locate the property as Sykes mapping takes you down a cul de-sac!"
Extremely well furnished and comfortable. Just a few snagging jobs required - A number of kitchen lights not working, door handles loose, but overall very good standard.

"Rnately furnished and decorated, with very large kitchen and huge dining table."
Bedrooms and bathrooms large and well fitted. The property is a barn convention which is looking a little tired in places particularly outside where the garden furniture let it down. As mentioned in previous reviews there, lacking some basic items (potato masher, measuring jug) is a loose tile in the main bedroom, a faulty flicker light in the kitchen and slimy paving slabs by the front door, the slabs are extremely slippy when wet, a hazard which requires immediate attention. Communication with owner could be improved, on arrival we had a very hurried and brief meet, the property lacks instructions on how things work I.e. cooker, washing machine etc, we left a day early and sent a courtesy text letting the owner know, but received no reply.

"The property was fitted out like a palace, but unfortunately lack of maintenance over a period of years has left the property tired and in need of attention."
For example, the Sky did not work because it was not attached to the WiFi, the tiles in the main bathroom shower were loose; gas fire did not work; some of the pots and pans were unusable; the fridge door was held together with sellotape, etc. etc.
Sitting in the conservatory we watched the rain pour over the gutters because the gutters were full of debris.
We were disappointed with our stay.

"The bungalow interior was excellent, the owner was very helpful as I had to ring him to have the heating on just for a couple hours in the morning and evening for a couple of chilly days as he has full control."
The exterior is a bit off putting and were you park was very slippy when wet and needed a good brushing and power washing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay but would have been nicer if we could have sat outside and enjoyed what sun we had.

"Absolutely beautiful accommodation in the small town of Oakworth overlooking the country side."
The furniture was very ornate & beautiful the kitchen/bathrooms very modern & the beds were so comfortable. Everything was immaculate I loved it.
It would be great if the immediate outside area could be tidied up & a proper garden set added rather than a plastic picnic table to sit out & enjoy the view. Saying that this did not detract the comfort of our stay or the pleasure we had from the accommodation.

"The cottage is beautifully furnished and very clean with fantastic views over the surrounding countryside."
There is also plenty of wildlife to watch.
It is not the easiest place to find. Continue along Woodlands until you come to a left turn, turn left, continue to bottom of paved road and take left hand unpaved track, turn left at top of track through metal gates and the cottages are in front of you.
The heating in the cottage is controlled by the owner and he is quite economical with it. You have to ask for the heating to be put on. Whilst I appreciate the reason for it, I did not like this aspect of my stay at all.
The WIFI appears to have been sorted out. It dropped out occasionally but no major problems.
There is a lot of equipment in the cottage, e.g. Sky TV, Bose sound system, DVD player and video recorder, sadly most of it does not work. This is mainly due to most of the remote controls having flat or no batteries. The Sky TV was not receiving a satellite signal so was useless. The only TV available was Freeview.
There are instructions for the kitchen appliances but none in English. It is a case of trial and error.
The outside area could do with a bit of TLC. Some proper garden furniture is required and the old plastic bench at the bottom of the stairs needs to go. The existing outside furniture was very dirty.
We enjoyed our stay but would not return.

"The views are stunning."
Finding the cottage is a problem even with sat nav , a neighbour we asked for directions said every Saturday was the same he was asked where this cottage was . Instructions for oven were all in a foreign language but did manage to work it out on my own . Its a shame as its in a beautiful area with stunning views and with a little care and attention could be out stand. There is no WiFi even though it says there is . Previous guest say exactly the same . The steam train trip is fantastic and the 1940s tearoom at Haworth is brilliant . Try the fabulous afternoon tea and the town its self is stunning . The Grouse Inn near by is worth a visit food is fantastic abd The Snooty Fox pub in Oakworth has a warm friendly atmosphere with great Beer .

outside . The garden is full of weeds and has no shade or comfortable seating to enjoy the area., Abandoned furniture , empty pots, overgrown grass and access step being a breeze block is not what u expect from a 4* rated.cottage. Such a shame as has great potential. Sky TV consists of SKY Arts and News which is misleading as mentioned by previous reviews.Other complaints do not seem to have been acted on either which is unusual for SYKES with whom we have booked with many times. Disappointed
