"We had a week’s stay in beautiful Milton House with a welcome pack on arrival."
It was home from home with everything you needed. The lounge was bright with large comfy seating and a wonderful dining room with plenty of space. The 3 bedrooms were roomy with ample storage. The kitchen was well equipped with top quality crockery and appliances . Would highly recommend this property and will be returning next year for our second visit.

"We enjoyed a lovely few days at Milton House."
The house is clean, comfortable and characterful. It is also very well equipped with thoughtful extras included and even our anxious rescue dog felt at home there. Great walking around the area. We have already booked again for December.
-
"A very impressive house, attention paid to every detail."
Highest quality fittings and furnishings, fantastic rooms, and bathrooms. Wood and coal provided for the fires which felt very homely on a late September night. Middleham is a brilliant location. It felt like home and the interior design features were impeccable. All that you could want and more - we could not fault the property and it deserves a rating of 10 stars were there to be such a thing - 5 stars doesn't do it justice. We would go back to Milton House again in a heartbeat.

"This is the second time we’ve stayed at Milton House and our stay was great."
The house is beautiful, clean and very comfortable. The owners have provided everything you could possibly need and Middleham is the perfect place for an early autumn holiday.

"Milton House was the perfect place to stay whilst exploring Middleham and North Yorkshire."
The location couldn't be better with a view of Richard III’s castle and the main street, where the racehorses trot by every day. The rooms were spacious and clean and the estate manage was friendly and helpful when the dishwasher malfunctioned. We lived the pictures of naughty dogs and the games provided for our amusement. We also appreciated the recommendations of places to visit, which were brilliant, although we couldn't fit everything in! We would definitely book again if/when we return to Middleham. Thank you.

"Everything about the house and the location lived up to and even surpassed our expectations."
Possibly one of the nicest places we have stayed. All the facilities are of the best quality and the interior of the house has been thoughtfully designed and decorated. So all of this yet still comfortable and we felt immediately at ease. A great kitchen with everything you could want for cooking - (it does need a tea strainer for oldies like us). Obviously a dog friendly house. One idea would be a stair gate to stop enthusiastic dogs charging straight upstairs - although there is a side door to use to prevent that. We had two fledgling blackbirds in the courtyard all week so we couldn't easily use that space - but we enjoyed watching their progress and the parents comings and goings. Both fledged the day before we left. Middleham is a very pretty village, great beer down the road and the best fish and chips a few doors down. It was wonderful to watch the daily procession of horses on their way to the gallop. An easy 3 mile round walking route from the door through the most pretty and flatish countryside which we did everyday and watched curlews, skylarks and lapwings. The location of the house is perfect for exploring the surrounding villages and towns with Leyburn barely 5 minutes away for supplies from small independent shops which we much prefer. We had a exceptionally relaxing and enjoyable stay.

"Milton House is absolutely superb."
It is even better than described. Thank you to the owners who made us feel so welcome with the gift basket when we arrived! Milton House really was a home away from home! Thank you for sharing it with us!

"A perfect house in a beautiful location."
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this well equipped house. Everything was so clean and tidy and it had all we needed. Really appreciated the excellent oven. The walks straight from the door were enjoyed by the whole family. Would love to come back.

"Beautiful house with all home comforts-we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there."
Can't think of anything negative to comment on. Location is great too-fantastic view of the castle from the back of the house. Our Grandson (nearly 3) loved watching the horses passing the front window on the way to their gallops. There are several pubs in the village and an excellent fish and chip shop. Also a good general shop which is open early 'til late. We bought some delicious local sausages there.

"A beautiful property."
-
"Sublime. Quality I would expect from somewhere twice the price."
An absolute gem. Great choice in fixtures and furnishings, well produced 'manual' with great level of detail for all the appliances, local walks and restaurants. 6:30 am for the horse parade past the front of the house as they leave town stables for the gallops. Don't forget your binoculars as it is a great spot for wildlife. We have visited Middleham and stayed in other properties, this beats them all. And providing the pubs stay open, Middleham will always be high on our list.

"Lovely stay in this very comfortable cottage."
Convenient for all the Dale's attractions and visitor sites. The cottage was spotless with easy access to local pubs and restaurants. Highly recommend

"MILTON HOUSE WAS FANTASTIC, WITH ONLY A FEW ISSUES, NAMELY: 1)THE ENSUITE SHOWER DOOR WAS DIFFICULT TO OPEN/CLOSE 2)NO LIGHT ABOVE MIRROR TO ENSUITE BASIN - SHAVING/MAKEUP."
DITTO HOUSE BATHROOM. 3)THE REAR BEDROOM WOULD BE BETTER WITH A KING SIZE BED THAT SPLIT INTO 3 SINGLES, THEREBY PROVIDING FACILITIES FOR 2 CHILDREN AND/OR 2 ADULTS - OUR GRANDCHILDREN DID NOT SLEEP PROPERLY AT THE COTTAGE.
Thankyou for your feedback, we always welcome suggestions and will look to address them. Property Owner

Where you’ll be staying
MIDDLEHAM
Leyburn 2.5 miles; Richmond 12 miles.
The attractive Wensleydale town of Middleham is renowned for its history and race horses. Much of the history is bound up with its Norman castle, which dates from 1190 and has a castle keep second in size only to the Tower of London. The horses are a great sight as they make their way to the gallops every morning. The pretty market square is partially cobbled and offers a range of shops, pubs and places to eat. The bustling market town of Leyburn is just a short drive away offering a variety of great shops and pubs, or why not take some time to explore The Forbidden Corner, a unique labyrinth of tunnels, chambers and surprises set amidst 4 acres of grounds, providing a fun day out for all the family? All in all a superb base for exploring Wensleydale and all within easy driving distance of York, the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales and Heritage Coast.
