  • "Had an amazing stay at Moorhen house."

    Owners were very attentive without being intrusive. Facilities were fantastic, and the pool was a massive plus for us. The whole family used it everyday and it was perfect for our 2 boys. The garden is so lovely and well maintained and the house was very comfortable and a lovely space to relax. All the bedrooms having en suites was a great bonus too. Lots to do in the area and a beautiful part of the country. Would highly recommend. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

  • "We had the pleasure of 7 nights stay and it didn't disappoint Heather was alovkeynlady and met us on arrival for the grand tour and it didn't disappoint the grounds were beautiful and the house was amazing we didn't want to leave peaceful romantic setting ."

    On arrival we were met by the owner heather who i have to say is lovely so welcoming and friendly the property is lovely + quite + the gardens are beautiful with lovely flowers + bushes and little bunnies reminded me of beatrice potters garden with peter rabbit we aso see the baby moorhens + robins just lovely if we needed any recomadations where to eat or where to go heather was only to happy to tell us places a get away from it all holiday would definately go back again and recommend to anyone enjoy thank you heather it was lovely meeting you hopefully will see you again in the near future x

  • "WE HAD AN EXCELLENT HOLIDAY,4 ADULTS AND 2 TEENAGERS."

    THE FACILITIES, ESPECIALLY THE POOL, MADE FOR A THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE STAY. THE ACCOMODATION WAS AS GOOD AS THE PICTURES PORTRAY. THE EXTENSIVE GARDEN WAS IMMACULATE AND PROVIDED LOVELY VIEWS OF THE COUNTYSIDE.

  • "After a frustrating time in getting a reply to my query (still waiting)."

    What can I say about the property? Wow ,wow wow. Our host -Heather was waiting for us when we arrived to show us around, she was lovely and so helpful. The grounds are amazing, everywhere was immaculate. Inside was equally amazing. I can honestly say there was nothing we could have wished for. Would highly recommend this House and we will definitely be regular guests here.

  • "We had a wonderful stay."

    Heather was so welcoming and accommodating. The house was spotlessly clean, beds really comfortable and we had everything we needed. Having the swimming pool made the children’s holiday. Patrick Brompton is well placed for visiting lots of beautiful places and there are lots of great places to eat.

  • "A beautiful clean and well maintained cottage and garden."

    The cottage had everything we needed and more. The owners were helpful and welcoming and always on hand should we need anything. The cottage is connected to the owners property so we did feel a little conscious about the children making noise. The swimming pool was a perfect treat for the children. We needed more days to explore the area and would definitely return to Moorhen House.

  • "Heather and Dave came to our rescue when our original booking cancelled an hour before our arrival."

    The house was spotless, warm and a well equipped kitchen. The pool is not heated off season but one of our party usually does an ice bath each morning so had a 5min swim each day. The large garden is beautiful and I loved my morning coffee sat by the pond. The pub over the road is excellent and Heather told us about the fixed 3 course menu great value at £25 a head. We booked for all 6 and it was delicious. Leyburn is 10 mins away, Bedale 5, we also did Richmond, Masham and Raby Castle was a real highlight 45 mins away. We booked Tan Hill, the highest pub in Britain, you wont believe the size of the filled Yorkshire Pudding. The weather was kind and we can highly recommend Moor Hen House. Thankyou Heather and Dave for saving our holiday.

  • "January stay Good Points-what a lovely house, very spacious, comfortable, well maintained, had everything you need for self catering, plenty of seating, storage, good location 10 minutes from bedale, lots of parking space, welcoming and helpful hosts."

    Particularly helpful when the lights tripped out one day. Lovely garden and nice views. Bad points-INDOOR POOL NOT HEATED IN WINTER, this was a massive disappointment for us as this had been one of the reasons we booked this particular house. We didn’t notice this in the listing although it is mentioned in the finer details. Our own fault for not checking the listing thoroughly but it should be more clear as the pool is mentioned several times. Main bedroom curtains are very light and thin and let in too much light, particularly the patio door as it’s near to the bed. Twin room beds were very squeaky. There are two internal doors connecting to the hosts property, one in the kitchen and one in the twin bedroom these were locked from the owners side and not an issue for us as a group of adults but may make some uncomfortable. Overall we really liked the property and would return another time of year when the pool is useable.

    Sorry that you were disappointed that the pool isn’t heated in winter but it leads to problems with condensation The doors to our property are locked from our side to protect our privacy Pleased that you would revisit inspite of this Property Owner

  • "We stayed at Moorhen House for 4 nights, with our 3 children."

    It was a great experience and the children enjoyed the pool. The house was lovely and clean and felt very homely. The place is beautifully kept and well-designed for shared accommodation. All the bedrooms have an on-suite which made a huge difference. The kitchen is very well stocked with pots and pans which goes to show how much attention the owners have paid to the needs of their customers. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at the cottage, it is excellently furnished to a high standard with lots of real wood furniture."

    The hosts were brilliant, very welcoming and extremely helpful with anythingwe needed, including lending us a pump when we woke up to a flat car tyre. The pool is great and we all really enjoyed it. Great views over the Countryside. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage.

Moorhen House is a delightful holiday home nestled in the charming village of Patrick Brompton, North Yorkshire.

PATRICK BROMPTON

Bedale 4 miles; Middleham 8.5 miles.

The pretty rural village of Patrick Brompton is situated four miles from the market town of Bedale in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire. Patrick Brompton offers a church, which is located in the centre of the village, with Brompton Beck running through its centre. The small market town of Bedale is steeped in history, some of which can be found in the local museum. The town also offers a weekly market on a Tuesday, interesting churches, various craft and antique shops (notably Red House), cafes, and pubs, which provide local beers and home cooked food. There are many lovely walks for all abilities in this beautiful area, as well as delightful villages to explore. Within easy reach are many other attractions, including the Constable Burton Hall Gardens with extensive parkland and woodland walks, and Jervaulx Abbey, with its tearooms and Brymor Ice Cream, is only a 10 minute drive away. Gardeners will enjoy the Thorp Perrow Arboretum, which also offers falconry displays, plus don't miss the weird and wonderful Forbidden Corner near Middleham! Ideally placed for exploring all of Wensleydale, Swaledale and Wharfedale, and the magical city of York, less than an hour away.
