  • "We really loved staying at Birch Cottage -- the cottage was charming, the bed comfortable and the bedroom quiet at night."

The kitchen was well equipped; we were able to bake and cook and I really liked having a gas range -- it really helped make cooking a pleasure. As we are from Canada, I don't know if we will be back in Yorkshire, but if we come back to Skipton we will definitely be looking to re-book Birch Cottage. Thank you so much for hosting us.

Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! We’re delighted to hear you found Birch Cottage charming and comfortable, and that the kitchen made cooking such an enjoyable part of your stay. Natasha and I really want Birch Cottage to be a home-from-home with everything that might be needed. Even though you’re travelling from far away, we do hope you’ll find your way back to Skipton again in the future — you’d be most welcome at Birch Cottage anytime. Property Owner

  • "Well equipped, comfy cottage."

Prosecco and fresh bread as a welcome, were very much appreciated. Brilliant location within walking distance to the shops, woods and restaurants. The listing did accurately mention that 'some' road noise may be heard. As we live in a quiet cul de sac, the noise was a bit too much for us. Our kids, in the front bedrooms, also found it noisy at night. Lovely place though.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re so pleased you enjoyed the prosecco and bread - we do love Walker's Bakery. Natasha and I pleased that you found Birch Cottage comfortable and well equipped. It’s great to hear you made the most of the central location and were able to explore the nearby shops, woods, and restaurants. We’re sorry the road noise impacted your stay — while it is in the listing, but we understand it can feel more noticeable if you’re used to a very quiet setting. Your comments are really valuable, and we’ll keep them in mind as we continue to improve. We’re glad you still found the cottage lovely, and we’d be delighted to welcome you back if you return to Skipton. Property Owner

  • "Lovely little cottage, stayed there while we were moving house and had everything we needed."

Well thoughtout space, great shower! Close to the centre and surprisingly quiet. The only thing missed for us was a spare key but a very minor gripe.

Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re delighted Birch Cottage gave you everything you needed during your move, and that you found the space comfortable and thoughtfully set up. It’s lovely to hear you enjoyed the shower (we think it is great too). We are glad you found the peaceful location even though we are so close to the centre. Thank you also for mentioning the spare key — that’s really helpful feedback and something we’ll look into for future guests. We’d love to welcome you back again anytime. Property Owner

  • "This is a beautiful cottage, and perfectly located to explore Skipton and the Yorkshire Dales."

It is very nicely furnished and decorated. The kitchen is very well fitted out with everything you might need - I think it's better than my own kitchen! You will certainly have everything you could want here. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Thank you for such a lovely review! We’re so pleased you enjoyed both the cottage and its location for exploring Skipton and the Dales. It’s wonderful to hear you found the furnishings and kitchen so well suited to your stay — what a compliment to say the kitchen is better equipped than your own! We do hope the cottage becomes a home-from-home for all our guests. We’d be absolutely delighted to welcome you back whenever you’re next in the area. Property Owner

After a challenging trek in the Dales treat yourself to a long soak in the large walk-in shower.

Settle down for the night in one of the three charming bedrooms, choosing from a roomy double bedroom with convenient fitted wardrobe storage, a second double bedroom with the bed tucked between the angled walls, and a neat single bedroom with hanging space, all boasting crisp white bed linen and neutral hues.

Known as “The Gateway to the Dales”, Skipton is well placed for visiting all that the Dales has to offer, whilst York, the Lake District and the West Coast are also within easy motoring distance. This lovely market town has much to interest the enthusiastic visitor, boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. In 2014, The Sunday Times named Skipton as Britain's "best place to live" and two years later placed it among the nine best towns in Yorkshire and the North-East. Steam railways with regular excursions are available at Embsay and Bolton Abbey, and the Leeds to Liverpool Canal passes through Skipton with the 1 mile long Foulridge Tunnel and the 5-rise locks at Bingley within a short travel. Golf, swimming, squash, tennis and snooker are all available locally and the excellent public transport means the car can be left at home!
