  • "Great Location, Town Centre 5 mins walk away, Lots of really nice walks very close by and places to visit."

Would like to have given 5 star rating but just felt that there were certain things that could have been better. We were there for a full week over Christmas and had only one bath towel each for the whole week, we could have taken our own but it did say this was provided and would have expected at least 2 each, not great if you shower most days. Also we had only 3 cups, appreciate there was only two of us, can only assume there was 4 originally and one had been broken and not replaced. Also the TV stopped working on Christmas Day and we had issues with it going on and off constantly afterwards so that was not great. We were also in bed on our last night and it appears the apartment next door can control your blinds which they did a couple of times on our last night(obviously unknowingly) and the blind that provides privacy to the bedroom area went up whilst we were in bed. We also found the stairs a bit scarey as there was no actual handrail and you had to hold on to the glass so we did not feel we could confidently head up and downstairs whenever we needed the bathroom. The apartment also has no opening windows so would imagine in the Summer this could be an issue. Overall we had a great week in Skipton but just wanted to point out the things we had issues with although appreciate these may not be issues to everyone. Parking is good but would not say it was necessarily secure as would not liked to have tackled closing the gates each and every time.

Great to hear you enjoyed your stay at Canal Side so much. Sorry about the power cut that caused the TV to go off but the TV's now reset and the blind is also sorted thanks. Glad we were able to attend personally to these problems within 40 minutes of you raising the issues , as you know Canal Side is of a very high standard and we're very keen to ensure there'll be no further issues. Summer will be lovely at Canal Side sat on the private patio outside - overlooking the canal, watching the boats go by and you'll be more than welcome to return and experience it for yourself. Thanks again, Andy Property Owner

Not our usual type of property (we've been using Sykes for 18 years) but we loved it. Ideal to be able to walk along the canal to Skipton in fact some days we didn't use the car. Everything has been done to a high specification & we wish the owner great success in the future. Thank you.

Very well equipped kitchen with tea, coffee, milk and biscuits provided on arrival. Loved watching the canal boats go by every day. The bed was very comfortable and you can also watch the boats go by when you're in the bedroom. Parking space on site which is very handy. Short walk into town which has lots of shops, restaurants and pubs. Highly recommend to anyone wanting a quiet holiday.

Known as “The Gateway to the Dales”, Skipton is well placed for visiting all that the Dales has to offer, whilst York, the Lake District and the West Coast are also within easy motoring distance. This lovely market town has much to interest the enthusiastic visitor, boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. In 2014, The Sunday Times named Skipton as Britain's "best place to live" and two years later placed it among the nine best towns in Yorkshire and the North-East. Steam railways with regular excursions are available at Embsay and Bolton Abbey, and the Leeds to Liverpool Canal passes through Skipton with the 1 mile long Foulridge Tunnel and the 5-rise locks at Bingley within a short travel. Golf, swimming, squash, tennis and snooker are all available locally and the excellent public transport means the car can be left at home!
