Unfortunately had to travel home on Monday then had to travel back on Tuesday as I had forgotten something apart from that great little cottage

Gem of a cottage.

Ideally positioned to explore the Yorkshire Dales. Ideal for dog walkers. Very quiet and secluded location.

We had a lovely stay at Pemba Cottage, the property was clean and comfortable - especially the beds!

We had everything we needed, and the pork pies and port on arrival were very welcome. The box of doggy goodies was a lovely touch too! The property is in a great location for exploring the Dales, and we look forward to staying again in the future.

It was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom has a lovely big shower cubicle. The location was perfect for us and our two dogs. We have already booked for next year!

A very nice cottage with everything necessary for a holiday stay.

I was impressed with the "welcome pack" which contained excellent pork pies and tasty port. It was also nice to be able to arrive at 3:00pm and leave at 10:00am like in the pre-CoVid days. The layout of the cottage meant that the downstairs was always cool and the upstairs not too hot despite the heatwave.

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely stone cottage which was well equipped and very comfortable, especially the super king bed.

Being able to park in front of the cottage was welcome. It is so well located and we loved the fact we could walk across the fields to Linton and the falls into Grassington. It was also great that we could walk along the pavement into Grassington. The Spar at the petrol station nearby was well stocked. Places like Malham Cove, Bolton Abbey, the steam railway and NT Brimham Rocks are close by. We would certainly recommend a stay at this lovely property.

Good location for walking in the Dales or for fans of the new All Creatures Great and Small (filming in Grassington).

The Foutaine Inn at Linton is also recommended and is a nice walk across the fields.

Had a fantastic stay at Pemba cottage.

Cottage was very clean and well presented. Fantastic basket of goodies for our dog which was so kind. Amazing pies and port on arrival. The spar 5 mins walk away was a fantastic shop to get all your provisions for your stay. Walk in to Grassington took about 15mins. Overall what a beautiful cottage in the Dales, with amazing walks and fantastic country pubs. Will definitely visit again in the future.

Apart from the weather we had a lovely and comfortable stay at Pemba Cottage.

The whole ambiance of the cottage was well thought out including the newly refurbished bathroom. Great location for getting out into the Dales and close enough to main facilities in Skipton and local Spar caters for every need. Can well recommend the Fountaine Inn in Linton.

Pemba Cottage was very welcoming with lamps and heating on.

The pies were delicious. There was everything you could need for a very comfortable stay, including bowls and treats for the dog. There's no garden or yard so the dog had to be taken out morning and evening. Torches and umbrellas were provided though. We had a lovely walk from Grassington despite Claudia, a day at Beningborough and Craft in the Pen in Skipton, then a lovely day at Bolton Abbey. We had booked to go to the Christmas decorations at Castle Howard, but the weather changed so we came home early as there's not much to do with a dog other than walk. A big mistake as we then went from home via the M62, which doesn't move. Lesson learned. It would be good to stay at the cottage again, as it's in a lovely area with good food at the Fountain Inn. The local pub is closed at the moment.

Pemba Cottage was easy enough to find with parking outside for one car and on street nearby.

The owner was easily contacted with ideas for eating the first night. Grassington is much larger than Threshfield and takes 1/2 hour to walk to or a bit less via Linton falls. The bus journey is three minutes and the stop is 5 away from the cottage, once you know it is on the Linton Road and not on the main road through the village. All the eateries in Grassington were good staffed by friendly local folk. We ate in most of them! When we did cook we found the kitchen well equipped. The bed was very comfy and the shower excellent. The cottage heating worked well in a cold snap and the well stocked log fire was a plus. Great well signed walks along river in village and nearby, it is walking country. All in all, a comfortable cottage with all you need , including a very well stocked Spar and petrol station just 5 minutes walk away. One hopes the Old hall pub/restaurant only 100 m away will re-open soon

We had a very enjoyable stay at Pemba Cottage.

The cottage is in a good location for the dales, very peaceful. It's well equipped, comfortable and has an excellent very large bed. There is an excellent Spar / butchers / petrol station, a few minutes walk away.

Il this was a home from home. We had lots of amazing walks, such a beautiful area.

This is the second time we've stayed at Pemba Cottage.

It's one of our favourite cottages, from the pork pies and port to welcome us, to the basket of dog toys, treats and blankets. It is well positioned for exploring Wharfdale. Grassington is close enough to walk to, but far enough away that you don't feel bothered by the crowds. The local Spar is great. The Old Hall Inn was unfortunately closed awaiting a new tennant during our visit, but the Fountaine in Linton is only a short walk away and does great food and drink.

We had a lovely time at Pemba Cottage, which was pretty, very comfortable and quiet.

It was well located for the amenities of Grassington, and there are some beautiful walks you can start from the doorstep. We would definitely return.

Pemba Cottage is an ideal base for exploring this lovely area of Yorkshire.

The cottage is well equipped and situated in a beautiful village near to the village green. The super king sized bed was so comfortable and led to a great nights sleep each evening. Shame the localpub has shut as we were looking forward to strolling over the road and sampling the food and drink. Although I booked the cottage without realising there wasn't a garden - taken in by the photographs of the surroundings - it wasn't too much of a problem even with my 2 border collies. Lots of walks direct from the cottage.

Nice cottage, very clean, well appointed and good location.

It was a shame that the village pub was closed but hopefully this is only short term. Loads of stunning walks locally.

Very good base for pottering around Wharfedale - didn't use the car all week.

A delightful cozy cottage set in a stunning location.

We highly recommend this cottage. It is set in a quiet village but provides easy access to many Yorkshire Dales attractions. We visited Bolton Abbey, Malham Cove and took a trip on the settle to Carlisle railway to list a few. There are also many dog walks from the front door. Sadly the local pub, which is about 100 yds from the cottage, closed in Jan 2025, but we found a few local pubs within a short drive. Just be aware that the stairs are very steep if you have someone with mobility issues. You will be unable to leave a review without mentioning the Port and Pork pies that were awaiting our arrival.we became hooked on the pies which can be bought locally.

Pemba cottage is a very cosy and extremely comfortable place to stay, especially if you decide to have a winters holiday in Yorkshire, which we do!

It's truly got everything you need, especially the log burner. A short stroll to the pub and a shop with everything you could possibly need is right on the doorstep too! We highly recommend this cottage and we still have so much to explore in Yorkshire that Pemba cottage will be due another visit from us for sure!

We stayed at Pemba Cottage in January 2024 so a little late in my review.

We had a great stay and the cottage was perfect for us. It was during one of the January storms but it didn’t spoil our stay. The cottage is in a great place to explore, walks to Grassington and Burnsall etc. Plenty of eateries in Grassington and a pub with food a stones throw away. The local Spar is handy and we topped up the logs etc for the open fire. The cottage is well equipped, clean and the king size bed was fabulous. We’ll be back.

A wonderful stay in this beautiful part of the world made even better by having Pemba Cottage as a base.

Well equipped cosy cottage has everything you could possibly need. There are walks from the doorstep and a pub less than two minutes walk away. The cottage was exceptionally clean and the bed was so comfortable after a day hiking through the Dales. Everything is easily accessible and we had a truly amazing stay - would highly recommend as the perfect base to explore the Yorkshire Dales.

We absolutely loved our stay in cosy Pemba cottage.

The photos don’t do it justice - super clean, the most comfortable beds and in the perfect setting. We took our 2 kids and dog and found so many places to explore 20-30 minutes drive away, plus some lovely walks from the doorstep. It’s a really well equipped cottage with excellent Wi-Fi and a gorgeous wood burning stove. The owners left some lovely touches, including a welcome basket for the dog, port and pies for the grown ups. Couldn’t recommend this place more highly.

A lovely place in a excellent position, easy walking distance to Grassington, Linton and Linton Falls.

Downfall is there is no garden if you have a dog or children.

Pemba has everything & more, the kitchen is so well equipped, the beds are crisp & comfy, the whole cottage is clean & cosy. The pork pues & port were a tasty welcome treat. It is situated in such a great place for seeing the area, everywhere we wanted to visit was about 11 miles away & there is a wonderful walk around the bridle path in the village, ideal for an evening stroll

A cottage full of character and charm, and very comfortable.

We did find it quite dark inside, but this is to be expected in a cottage of that age. The parking right outside the door was great, as not far to carry heavy cases and food boxes! We did find the duvet extremely hot and heavy, and didn't know until we stripped the bed before leaving that it was actually two duvets fastened together. Maybe the owners could leave a note to that effect in future? There were a couple of things that didn't work but we left notes for the owners, who were probably aware of them anyway.

It is cosy and comfortable, also one of the best equipped cottages we have every stayed in. It is in a great location, wonderful walks right on the doorstep. Plenty of good gastropubs within short walking/driving distance. If you are thinking of staying in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales we highly recommend Pemba Cottage.

This cottage is well located for walks straight from the front door.

Local amenities (pub and Spar shop with excellent local butcher's section) are close by. The cottage has a well equipped kitchen and a large master bedroom. Parking is a small (one car sized) plot immediately outside the front door. It was always available during our stay, however there was ample alternate parking nearby. Would highly recommend a stay here.

Arrived at Pemba Cottage on a wet miserable rainy day and when we walked inside, it was a little oasis of warmth, comfort and delight.

We settled our cases and such in and then made ourselves comfortable, as did our dogs, in the living room. The furnishings, beds and bedding is of a high quality and all very comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed and has just about every item you could wish for. Even a slow cooker. Very handy as we were obviously out and about exploring on most days. There is a log bin outside with a huge amount in it and you just load a large basket and store it in the corner of the kitchen for use as required. Pay for what you use in an “honesty box.” The house is warm as it is, but we lit a fire for the night after a particularly miserable day out and made extra cosy. There is parking outside the cottage for one large car and space 50 metres around the corner should you have a second car. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, it’s a great base for exploring the area and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

Really comfy bed, lovely open fire. Large kitchen. Pub just round the corner and great Spar shop around the other corner! We would definitely recommend this cottage for a stay.

Pemba Cottage is a very cosy property, situated in the small village of Threshfield.

Only a mile or so away from the quaint village of Grassington. We enjoyed our stay - the cottage was constantly warm and there is a log burner to supplement colder nights. The cottage is very well equipped even for your four legged friends!!!!! The owners had very thoughtfully left us some port wine and some pork pies, made by an established local butcher. Our stay was over New Year. The weather was not kind!! It rained a lot but that did not hamper our stay. Literally across the road, we can recommend The Old Hall. Superb food, a log fire and equally superb ales. Our stay was marred by the fact that we could not get the television to work! No matter what we tried, it just would not produce a picture. We sent the owners text messages seeking help - they were SUPERB!!! It has to be said. The problem was eventually solved by linking my laptop to the television and watching television programmes via my laptop and the internet. The owners, very kindly, left us some port wine and some pork pies, produced by a local butcher. Apart from that blimp, we thoroughly recommend Pemba Cottage - you will not be disappointed. Enjoy!!!!

Everything inside & about the cottage was just perfect.

A fabulous location...could not fault in any way. So impressed, planning our return already next year.

Lovely Pemba Cottage our stay has been very welcoming.

The cottage has all the extra touches ie Tea,coffee ,sugar, all cleaning and washing up ,tin foil cling wrap plus loads of extras, and the welcome pack of pork pies and port was a lovely extra, plus our spaniel Newton was provided with a lovely hamper of dog treats,throws and towels and bowels to use plus many extras. We have stayed many times here and the location is fantastic, lots of walks from your doorstep, and pubs and eating places so nearby,,for such a lovely and great cottage , with a very comfortable super Kingsize bed,we greatly recommend it, we did not use the log fire as the weather was not cold enough, but it would make the evenings so cosy. We had a very enjoyable stay at Pemba Cottage and would stay again.

Although we gave it 5 stars, there was a couple of minor issues, the sofa under the stairs was not the most comfortable and some of the cooking equipment needed a little more cleaning. Thankyou Nikki and Jon for an enjoyable stay.

We had an amazing stay at this beautiful cottage.

It is absolutely gorgeous inside and out, it was exactly what we hoped for when we booked it. Its the perfect base to explore the surrounding area from, which is stunning. We had 2 dogs with us, the cottage was really dog friendly, big basket of treats, toys and blankets for us to use, plus dog towels and shampoo for after muddier walks. There was a very well equipped kitchen which we made good use of, but eating out is no problem either as most places are also dog friendly. The cottage is so cosy, but has plenty of room, we were a family of 4 adults and 2 dogs and it was perfect. Would definately stay again! I would love to light the fire on a winters night. Thanks for a great holiday xx

We had a lovely week at Pemba Cottage which started off with a warm welcome from Jon and Nikki as we were greeted by Port and Pork Pies along with a basket of goodies for the dogs!

The cottage was warm and welcoming as well as being absolutely spotless. Location wise we felt that Pemba Cottage was perfect with lovely walks, a useful shop and a great pub on the doorstep. Grassington is only a short walk away on well lit pavements making it safe to do in the dark. The facilities in the cottage were exactly as described on the listing and Jon was contactable if we had any problems (we didn’t!). We will definitely be back again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Pemba Cottage to others. The only thing that may bother people is the lack of outside space but this is more than offset by the beautiful countryside on the doorstep!

Very comfortable, clean and just ideal for a stay in the Dales. All amenities, e.g towels, dressing gowns, etc were just right and the super king bed very comfortable! The cottage is situated to enable you to enjoy great walks from your door and close to The Spar shop for supplies and we enjoyed our meals in the Old Hall Inn each night. There was a very good menu there with great specials. Jon the owner of the cottage was in touch and wished us a good holiday and helped with any queries promptly. Thanks so much Jon. The cottage is ideally located for loads of walks and local pubs on your doorstop. The super king bed is extremely comfortable. Would definately stay again and would highly recommend.

Pemba cottage is perfectly placed for easy access to Grassington, Linton Falls and river walks along the Dales Way.

The cottage is 2 mins walk to the Old Hall Inn pub and there is a modern Spar/fuel supermarket 5 mins walk away that caters for everything including a butchers. The cottage itself is well equipped, well presented and full of character a visit to the Dales. Definitely recommended.

Had a fab week here with my husband and our dog.

Lovely cottage, beautifully furnished and had everything we could have wanted. A short walk across fields to Grassington and the pub across the road was great too. Wouldn't hesitate to book it again.

This is a comfortable, well equipped cottage with amenities close by.

It was good to see that there were plenty of empty cupboards available in the kitchen for our own food and not a lot of excess/ surplus cooking utensils that we have found in some other cottages over many years of hiring holiday lets. We feel that offering to change the bed linen and towels should be the norm if the stay is for a 2 week period.(If it is included in the hiring charge in the 1st place). After all it would be changed between one week lets. The welcome "treat" was much appreciated and enjoyed. Thank you.

Lovely comfortable cottage in a great location with easy access to so many places worth visiting.

Lots of good walks win the immediate area, so car free days are possible. The Old Hall Inn, one minutes walk away serves decent food, so car free evenings are also possible.

What a lovely house Pemba Cottage, it was lovely and clean and really well presented, The location is definately 10/10 in Threshfield, Near Grassington is walking from the doorstep to numerous beauty spots.

Pubs and shops on doorstep. The super kings Sized was so large and comfortable and the dog bowls and treats, plus pork pies and port very welcoming. The only reason we did not give it 10/10 was because of the steep steps to upstairs, we are both 77 after all and did manage the steps, Jon the host was very welcoming and I would definately recommend this cottage

Beautiful Cottage in a beautiful location.

The little touches were what made it for us, welcoming pork pies with port to accomplish plus the thoughtful treats and basket of useful stuff for our dog. Owners are to be congratulated on their thoughtfulness.

This cottage is in an excellent location, ideal for various walks from the doorstep and for walking into Grassington, our car didn't move for a few days.

Nikki and Jon have done a wonderful job with the very tasteful decor and along with the previous guests we loved the super king bed! The thoughtful personal touches add too the character of this fabulous property.

Pemba Cottage was very comfortable, beautifully equipped and furnished.

The Spar shop has exceptionally good bakery/butcher/fish counter plus delicious pork pies!! The Old Hall Inn, is just a few steps away and is fine for pub food and Light Bites are good, all at very decent prices.

The property was clean, comfortable and had everything we (and the dogs) needed for our stay. The location is incredible, with beautiful Dales walks from the doorstep and plenty of places to stop off for a bite to eat and a drink (or two . . . ) within easy walking distance. Already planning out next trip and would be more than happy to be based at Pemba Cottage again.

Second visit to this lovely cottage, and every bit as good as the first.

Extremely well equipped, well presented and very comfortable. Warm and cosy despite being a chilly week in December. Excellent dog basket to welcome the four legged members of the family. Walks to Grassington, Burnsall and Linton straight from the door, and ideally located for accessing all of the Dales landmarks. Highly recommend a stay here.

We had a very nice week in the cottage, great location for walking and close to shop, pub etc.

The bed was very comfortable and ‘large’ the whole cottage was warm too. Wi-fi was usable if not fast, TV stations very limited but that the area! We will probably return at some point, thanks!

Beautifully presented cottage in a wonderful location.

Lots of little extras within the cottage that make you feel right at home such as a selection of tea and coffee, pork pies, hand soap in the bathroom and dressing gowns in the bedroom next to the giant comfy bed. Really well looked after cottage and we managed to park right outside every day. Fabulous area with some great walks right on your doorstep. Lovely pub within a stones throw that serves excellent food and Grassington is only a 15-20 minute walk away along a lit road with pathway for a wider selection of pubs. If you are eating out in the evening I recommend you book if it is in the summer months as they get very busy. The whole area is very dog friendly. This is the loveliest area I have stayed in England and definitely the best cottage

A fantastically located cottage with a warm and welcoming feel.

This cottage is very well equipped with everything that you need for a self-catering stay. Exceptionally clean and tidy, we enjoyed the very comfy beds with quality bed linen. Pemba cottage is in a quiet location with wonderful walks from the door and has owners that are responsive and helpful.

We had a brilliant holiday.

A lovely little cottage with lots of great touches (tea, coffee, dog treats etc) and the best bed we’ve ever slept in. It was spotless and really well kitted out. It’s also in a great location with a pub and shop only a few minutes walk away. Great base for walking with walks from your door and less than a mile across fields to pretty Linton.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pemba cottage.

There was a lovely welcome basket for our dog and also some port and a pie for us. Very crummy. A really comfortable cottage with access to many lovely walks including Linton waterfall. Grassington only just over a mile away which is a lovely village. The Old Hall Inn is just a stones throw away. They are very dog friendly and the food is very good.

The cottage is everything you could wish for its like home from home.

Very clean and really comfortable the facilities are very good. In a lovely position in Threshfields so many lovely walks on your doorstep and plenty places to eat. Would definately recommend

The Old Hall Inn is a good place to eat and drink and only a 1 minute walk. A Spar supermarket is just a little further away which incorporates petrol forecourt, butcher and cake counter. Great location for walking (even from the doorstep). Would be be very happy to holiday here again. Jon and Nikki were very helpful and the “little extras” were a really nice touch and much appreciated!

Pemba is a very comfortable, welcoming cottage in a delightful village.

There was great communication from Jon who with Nikki went above and beyond providing everything we needed even for Lily our border collie. The bed was fabulous so much so that we have ordered a mattress for ourselves. There were so many nice touches to the cottage eg the selection of tea and coffee and the delicious pork pie and port. The decor is so bright and homely. The location is exceptional, we walked over 10 miles each of the 4 days we were there and no need to drive anywhere if you didn’t want to. We had a much needed G & T/pint at the local pub on a couple of occasions after a brilliant day’s walking. We were extremely lucky with the weather and had a perfect holiday. Thank you so much. We have just returned from a brilliant stay at Pemba Cottage.

It was a last minute decision to visit the Dales following our holiday abroad not been able to go ahead & we got very lucky that Pemba Cottage was available. The cottage is in a great location & was lovely inside, as soon a we entered we felt at home. Had everything you would need for a great stay in the Dales & the items the hosts had prepared in the cottage was a great touch, lovely pork pies, Port & a welcome pack for our dog, as well as a welcome guide with all information you need about the cottage & area. An all round great place to stay, would highly recommend & we shall definitely return.

It was very clean and a pleasure to stay in. The special treat for the doggies was unexpected and they loved them. Lovely comfortable super king bed and plenty of storage room. Would definately recommend and have booked again for next year.

The comfy cottage was in a great location.

No need to drive anywhere as there are numerous walks from the door, a well stocked shop within 5 minutes walk and a dog friendly pub over the road. Brilliant.

Our break at Pemba cottage coincided with the hottest week of the year which made going out walking each day very tiring but the scenery was stunning.

Pemba proved to be a perfect base for many walks straight from the door without using car (which incidentally you park right outside the front door!) and that for us was so easy.The River Wharfe is very close by and you can walk that in either direction and there are many other great places nearby Malham Tarn, Brimham Rocks and Bolton Abbey all recommended. The cottage itself has no garden so we didn’t take our dog... we should have brought her tho as the cottage is very dog friendly and there’s no shortage of open spaces to walk a dog very close by so next time she’s coming with us! The bed was, as others have said, extremely comfortable and lovely to laze in after a day out wandering. We had a great week in Pemba cottage and port and pork pies as a welcome gift was a lovely gesture-thank you.

Lovely cottage.

Very comfy beds. Well equipped kitchen. Absence of a small garden may be an issue for a few people but plenty of places to walk in the immediate vicinity including a charming walled village green fifty yards away which has good benches.

This little cottage is everything and more!

As a Sykes employee, I booked this gorgeous cottage for our first little getaway with our new puppy (her first time being able to walk on the lead) and it was perfect. I was blown away by how cosy everything looked when we first arrived, from the beautiful bedroom with the most comfortable bed (I NEED to find out where that duvet is from) to all the little added extras, the pork pie and port in the kitchen waiting for us and all the little treats for the puppy. We spent 4 nights here but could have easily spent the week, the pub across the road was our local and where we went every night, literally not even 1 minutes walk away from a spar also! We went into Grassington and also Skipton and then also spent a day in Malham walking to the Gordale Scar. The cottage is in a great location to be able to drive to all of these places with such lovely scenery on the way! We found Grassington slightly quiet but once we discovered the Devonshire pub, we loved it. We surprisingly didn't eat out once, because the house and kitchen was so cosy and had so many facilities we were able to stay at home and cook anything we wanted. It also snowed when we were there which made it even better! The only issue I would say that we had, was that there is no garden, but it wasn't too much of a problem for us as we took the Puppy out on her lead most of the time but maybe wouldn't visit here in summer because of wanting somewhere to sit and eat outside. Aside from that, I couldn't fault this little cottage. It has the 5 ticks for a reason and we loved it all.

Pemba cottage was an absolute delight, very comfortable and spacious for myself, husband and our dog.

The cottage was very warm and cosy and very well equipped and the welcoming pies and port were delicious. Could not recommend more highly. We'll definitely be back

It's a super cottage, perfect size and very comfortable.

Everything has been thought about so you dont have to run out to the shops to get something you've forgotten. Highly recommend this cottage for a trip to the Yorkshire Dales. Thank you

We had a fabulous stay in Pemba Cottage during the World Cycling Championships.

The weather was mixed but we still found plenty to do, some glorious walks on the dry days - to Kettlewell and then back on the bus and up to Buckden Pike in glorious sunshine. We also headed into Leeds on the train from Skipton when it rained. The cottage is really well equipped with lots of homely touches and was the perfect base for our adventures. The nearby shop is very well stocked too.

Far beyond what many places offer. It is always disappointing when you choose to self-cater but struggle to do so with what is provided in the kitchen. Pemba Cottage, however, has everything you need and is a real ‘home from home’.

The most perfect Dales cottage!

Really well equipped and some very thoughtful ‘welcoming’ touches. The master bedroom was absolute luxury... to the standard of a 5* hotel with large comfortable bed. The quiet location is perfect with some fantastic walks from the door and pub and shop (with quality butchers) a very short walk away. Coming back to this cosy cottage after a day’s walking was bliss. Thank you, we will definitely be back.

The cottage was excellent: tastefully decorated, well-equipped, and very comfortable.

The kitchen had everything you could wish for, including supplies of very good tea and coffee. I would suggest clearer instructions for the oven and the central heating: the oven I could only get to work if I put the timer on, and the central heating was clear enough for temperature but not regarding putting on a timed on/off. But these are minor quibbles as both oven and heating were efficient. The location of the cottage was also very good: with a local Spar, pub and even bus-stop! We did two walks from the cottage and explored Wharfedale and nearby areas such as Malham Tarn/Cove, Bolton Abbey and Skipton. Very impressive.
