"Second time we have stayed at Oak Bank, loved it the first time and just as much this time even though the weather wasn’t kind to us."
Very sad to hear Fiona is selling the property and that this will be our last stay. Thank you once again Fiona for our wonderful stay.
-
"Found this gem 12yrs ago missed one yr due to covid."
With a sad heart owner has spld this cottage will miss it next year . Thanks Fiona and your Cakes are delicious

"Absolutely amazing place my only criticism was I couldn't stay longer."
Amazing bed linen best night sleep I've had for months. Everything we needed was to hand.
-
"Oak Bank was such a beautiful house and a beautiful location."
It had everything we needed for our long weekend away. Fi (the host) was amazing, she'd left us a cream tea in the fridge on arrival and was so friendly, welcoming and accommodating. We wanted to book a return visit for next year but we were gutted to hear it's going up for sale in Spring 2024

"The cottage was so warm and welcoming and really comfortable."
We’ve not stayed in such a well equipped cottage and the kitchen had everything you needed to self cater. There was a great deal of information about places to visit and places to eat. There were plenty of books and games as well as an excellent television. The beds are really comfortable and we all slept well. The dog den is wonderful and the dogs too had a good holiday with plenty of walks from the cottage. A lovely holiday which started well with a welcoming cream tea
-
"A lovely comfortable cottage, very well equipped for dogs with their special room and lots of dog items."
There was plenty of room for our large family holiday, the local bakery was amazing and highly recommended. We had some lovely walks in the Forest of Dean and visited the local pubs, the food was delicious. I would highly recommend this cottage and location.

"The cottage was so warm and welcoming."
The cream tea was a nice touch and was enjoyed by all! A visit to the Forest Bakery down the road is worth the walk particularly to sample their cookies! Unlike most self catering establishment's we didn't have to strip beds or leave our rubbish which was a refreshing change. We'd love to visit again sometime in the future.
-
"Lovely cottage in a beautiful area for getting about in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Monmouthshire."
Very comfortable beds and quiet location with friendly neighbours.
-
"We had a lovely week at Oak bank Cottage, house was fine but a bit dated in decor but we found everything to our Liking."
Went to lots of places and had a good time. Got lovely cream scones on arrival which was a nice touch.Dogs room was brilliant.
-
"We spent a lovely 4 days at Oak Bank Cottage, it was spacious and well presented, we were greeted by a cream tea for us which was a lovely thought."
A good property in a great spot to explore the area.
-
"The cottage is absolutely beautiful And would love to book again"
-
"Oak Bank is a lovely cottage."
The house is set in a beautiful location. It’s a good size property so you don’t feel like you’re on top of each other, and the bedrooms are a good size. Great parking at the side of the house and ideal if you have dogs. Owner was very accommodating and would recommend staying. If we are in this part of the UK again we would look to book again.

"We believe the property could do with being updated as carpet up the stairs has holes in it and general painting needed to various rooms."
The bottom draw of freezer not keeping things frozen. Walking distance to the Yew Tree quick through the fields about 15 minutes. The Farmers Boy is a lot further via main road not ideal to walk. Also would not recommend the Bakery down church lane as total rip off 2 small loafs of bread and 2 packs of lemon ricciarelli biscuits cost 15.50.
We have new carpets in all rooms now. They are lovely. Property Owner

"Lovely, spacious cottage."
Very clean & well equipped. Thank you for the lovely afternoon tea - it was most welcome. Plenty of dog walks around the area with the Forest of Dean a stones throw away. Rear garden was safe for the dogs, however, smaller than anticipated and gets very little sun. I also agree with a previous comment about some kind of lighting in the back garden. This aside, it is a lovely house and would recommend. Will certainly look at going back next year.

"We had a wonderful stay at oak bank cottage."
The owners have provided everything anyone could need, lovely and clean when we arrived and the welcome afternoon tea was a lovely touch. The only issue which we encountered was the lack of lightning in back garden. This really is a minor thing but when letting the dogs out after dark, we couldn't see where they were and what they were doing, obviously we checked next morning. We realise that bright lighting could be a nuisance to the nextdoor property. But maybe some floor level lighting would be helpful. This in no way distracted from our overall lovely holiday experience. We would love to return sometime. Thank you very much, you've pretty much thought of everything. Richard and Karen Hartley and family.

"We had a lovely long weekend break at Oak Bank Cottage for my birthday, with our son, daughter in law, two grandchildren and their pet Westy dog."
We were made very welcome and enjoyed the cream teas on arrival, which were a pleasant suprise. There is a nice pub and a bakery in walking distance close by and plenty of good places to visit. Thank you! We would highly recommend the place to others.
-
"We had a fantastic stay at Oak Bank Cottage and would highly recommend a stay here, fantastic owner and a very welcoming cream tea on arrival."
The house is very well equipped with everything we needed and the sky package was amazing, as we don’t have it at home, very comfy beds and a nice deep bath made it a very nice stay indeed, there are lots and footpaths around the cottage which made it extremely easy to get the dogs out in the mornings, we are very much looking forward to going back next year and to also having another pie from the farmers boy pub up the road. Highly recommended
Thank you so much for your lovely comments. Looking forward to seeing you and your dogs next year. Still loads of places to explore locally. Thank you for leaving the cottage so clean and tidy. Property Owner

"Such an excellent holiday cottage, the owners had thought of everything!"
It was fabulous. It snowed for the first five days we were there and we couldn't drive anywhere and it was brilliant. We would definitely go there again.
-
"Just what we wanted, a peaceful, comfortable week."
Well equipped property. Nice walks on doorstep and other place's a short drive away. Ideal for dogs, the dog room is great for cleaning them after walks. They also loved it at bedtime. Host is always a phonecall away if you need advice. Unusual for property to have full sky package which is a added bonus for rainy days. Nice place and one which we would probably use again.
-
"Four generations of family stayed here and it was excellent for all."
They had thought of everything and there were some lovely small touches. We were allowed an early check-in, which was great, you dont always get such flexibilty, and also the cream tea on arrival is a lovely individual touch. Fantastic. We will definately rebook. Couldnt fault it.
-
"This was a lovely holiday cottage in a beautiful and convenient location."
The cottage had everything you could possibly need and the lady that owned it was very friendly. We had a lovely week exploring the local area and spending cosy nights in the cottage. We would definitely book to stay again!!!
-
"Well what a wonderful week we have had, can’t recommend Oak Bank Cottage highly enough, everything you would want or need and a little bit more!"
Large spacious rooms, very comfortable beds, hairdryer in every bedroom ( never known this before) and very comfortable seating. Very clean and was left a wonderful cream tea and jug of fresh milk on arrival, scrumptious! Our 3 dogs also loved it with plenty of lovely walks on your doorstep. Can’t praise Fiona high enough, very friendly, exceptionally helpful, assisting us immediately when required. We will definitely be coming back again, can’t wait!
Thank you so much Beverly. It was a pleasure. Lots more to see and do in Forest of dean so hope to see you all again. Property Owner

"The cottage is wonderfully situated for access to all the local attractions and amenities."
The four bedrooms allow for a family of seven and the property has all you need to enjoy your stay. Whilst the garden is small there are walks for the dogs on the doorstep. We really enjoyed our holiday at this property and would recommend.
-
"Lovely property, really well equipped, situated in a beautiful village."
There was a delicious cream tea waiting for us upon our arrival. This cottage included a dog room with two dog beds, food/water bowls, towels and blankets. The setting is beautiful, with fabulous views and walks. There are plenty of interesting places to visit nearby; Littledean Jail Museum, several nature reserves, Puzzlewood, Clearwell Caves etc. Three generations of my family, plus dog thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Thank you so for your lovely comments. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

"Oak Bank Cottage is a lovely home from home."
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the owner Fiona was most helpful and thoughtful throughout. The time went too quickly but we hope to return at some point.
-
"We had a lovely stay ."
The house was very comfortable and well equipped. There was plenty of information about the local area and maps etc . The area was great with lots to see close by. Plenty of walks from the doorstep. It was lovely that dogs were made so welcome.
-
"Lovely property with great facilities."
Small enclosed garden very good if you have a dog with you. Good walks all around. Friendly host who stopped to say hello. We had a really good holiday in this place. (Five adults and one dog!)
-
"We have a lovely x2 night stay in this cottage."
It was clean, had everything we needed and was a good size for 6 adults plus x2 small dogs. We just wished we could have stayed longer so we could explore the surrounding area (and the weather had been nicer). I would recommend this cottage and the host was very friendly, helpful and welcoming.
-
"Excellent place for dogs nice and quiet owners very friendly and helpful."
The arrival package was fantastic and very tasty
-
"Just returned home after a lovely week staying at Oak Bank Cottage."
We all said that this has been the best place we have ever stayed. The cottage is so lovely, beautifully furnished and in an excellent location in a beautiful quiet and relaxing village but also close to amenities and attractions. The added extra of cream tea when we arrived was great. The owners are lovely and available if you need them but leave you to get on with your holiday. The cottage was spotlessly clean. Thank you! Brilliant holiday which we all thoroughly enjoyed.
-
"A very nice property in a good spot."
Ideal for families with dogs. We love the traditional decor, but some of the appliances were quite old and there was an awful lot of dust in the soft furnishings. Everything else such as kitchen and bathrooms was very clean and tidy.
-
"We have just arrived home after a weeks holiday with our 3 dogs."
Garden was secure and safe for the dogs. The cottage had everything we could of needed. Rooms were comfortable it was a home from home experience. We didn't meet the cottage owners but communications on phone was brilliant and any questions were answered. Thank you for a lovely week We truly enjoyed our stay.
-
"Lovely welcome with a cream tea and muffins."
Comfortable, clean, spacious cottage. Great location. Great fire with wood provided and option to buy more. Really lovely stay.
-
"Splendid cottage and what a lovely cream tea welcome we had."
Highly recommend this place with excellent facilities and easy access to places. We walked and walked. Beautiful area to explore.
-
"Very friendly and helpful owner, who went out of their way to make our stay special."
Lovely welcome cream tea, really thoughtful touches for our pooches, and lots of useful local information for walks etc. We all had a fab time.
-
"We had a wonderful week over New Year, the cottage was so beautiful, cosy, clean and exceeded our expectations."
The lounge had plenty comfortable seating for the six adults and the wood burner made it extra cosy. Fiona made us some delicious muffins & scones which she delivered to us on New Year’s Day. Our dog really enjoyed his own space, preferring to take himself off into his own quarters, 2x dog beds were provided and even though we took our own, he did enjoy trying them out. If we needed any assistance, Fiona was on hand immediately. In the property as well as providing a, visitor’s book, there’s a suggestion book too. Which is such a good idea for providing the owners with information, ie a light bulb needing replacing etc. Overall wonderful.
-
"Lovely cottage."
Had everything we needed. Enclosed garden for dogs .Very safe for an adventurous 15 month old baby. Lovely complimentary cream tea left in the fridge. Fantastic area for multiple walks.
-
"Ideal for our 3 dogs and us to have a comfortable stay will book again"

"Lovely, well equipped cottage in a great location for exploring the area."
Thank you for the warm welcome and the afternoon tea. Would highly recommend.
-
"We have stayed in many holiday Cottages over the years and this one is by far the best equipped."
My husband and I, our son, his fiancée and their 16 month old baby had a lovely holiday stay in this cottage. It was ideal for families and a good central base to explore the area. We especially like the fact it had a utility room where we could come in via the back door with our dogs, dry them off and put them straight into the dog room to thoroughly dry off before they joined us in the large kitchen/dining area. The dog room was an added bonus with 2 large dog beds and food/water bowls. We had a great holiday thanks to Fiona the owner making our stay more than comfortable and leaving a complimentary delicious afternoon tea for us to enjoy and basket of logs for the log burner.
-
"The owner was easily contactable and very helpful."
She took trouble to make the cottage welcoming when we arrived. We always felt she put the guests first and everything was done to enhance our holiday. A fantastic week!
-
"Great location for visiting area with easy access to main routes."
Pretty country side. Great cottage with space and well equipped. We felt the owners really wanted to make the holiday special.
-
"Lovely cottage and central for all activities within Forest of Dean area."
Cottage is large and accommodated 3 dogs no problem with the added bonus of a dog den which was great for cleaning them after walks and feeding. Cottage supplied towels, bowls and even dog poo bags just incase which was great. Cottage is very comfy and has everything you would want and more. Good secure outdoor space for dogs complete with hose to clean the little rascles, also good walks straight from the door. Cream tea on arrival was a nice surprise and was lovelly. I would recommend and would stay again if in the area.
