  • "Hot tub did not work, house is quite tired from a decor perspective, not well stocked, other issues such as blocked shower drains, in a nutshell, this property is not ready to be rented."

There are a number of maintenance issues and someone needs to check what it is missing in order to make a comfortable stay.

  • "The property is sadly neglected."

It didn't feel like a holiday cottage. There was no information on anything and the information we received about access was out of date. Our arrival was very stressful as the code to open the gate would not work. We were two families with four young children who were tired and needed the toilet. We had to climb over the gate to access the key box to access the front door. Then we realised the gate wasnt electric! This delayed our access by half an hour and led to stressful phone calls to sykes out of hours as it was late at night. On the first night we saw what we thought was a mouse downstairs but it could have been a rat as we saw a rat in the garden. The house should not be listed as four stars. It's tired and neglected. Missing light bulb, poorly draining showers, missing kick plates, wonky cupboards, broken plug hole, poorly patched up holes in door, and not enough hot water for two showers let alone two families (with no information about how to turn on the hot water). It felt more like a short stay air B&B than a holiday cottage. We weren't comfortable and we think the listing was completely misrepresented. We always choose five star cottages for comfort but picked this one for space and location thinking the photos looked nice and a four star rating would be comfortable. The photos are very old. I can imagine this being a nice property ten years ago but it's been neglected. We came home from our holiday early as we couldn't relax here. Huge shame and would not recommend.

  • "Very nice stay but property not kept to a good standard."

The views over looking the Thames were superb. The grass was 9” high and all paths full of weeds. No secure gates at front or sides. No information on appliances, kitchen blind broken, therefore no privacy. No table mats and a very sticky dining table. Some kitchen cupboard doors badly fitted. Under stairs cupboard door broken hinge. New light bulbs needed in several rooms. Main bedroom en-suite, toilet seat not fitted properly, ceiling with black mould, centre light full of dead flies. Door on double bedroom damaged and roughly filled. TV in twin bedroom no working remote. We feel that some sort of refund would be in order as the property was not as advertised. Littlecote has obviously not been inspected by Sykes on a regular basis. Such a shame as we would have loved to return to Littlecote and recommended it to family and friends.

  • "No information on anything in the property i."

E lighting, washing machine, tumble dryer, microwave, dishwasher, heating or even the local area. The bedding was to small for the bed which made sleeping uncomfortable. Also had holes in the sheets. Security was poor as the property was open to anyone walking past it. The large bedroom smelled of mould the kitchen blind was broken so everyone could see what we was doing no information about the bins being put out . Not good at all not worth all the money they charge .

  • "Property not as listed."

Said was enclosed and received arrival details from with codes to open front gates. When we arrived, no gates at all and as garden is wrap around, meant it was not secure for our dogs. We tried to contact owner/sykes immediately - no response. We decided not to stay and spent 4 hours driving back home again. Spoke to Sykes on following day and was assured a full refund as property not ‘as advertised’. No update received and no refund - has called again and promised a response - nothing. Now over 2 weeks ago - very disappointed with customer service
