1st impressions count, on arrival, the first thing you see is the front door is dirty, open the door and note the rubber seal is hanging off, the kitchen area is adequate but the sink was stinking & the tea towels provided were not fit as floor clothes never mind tea towels, around the entire property skirting boards filthy rotten & in some places hanging off, carpet disgusting in the bedroom, the different levels in the property are just aggravating, didn't enjoy our stay here at all, also the property is far from anywhere & it's a 15-minute drive before the main road

Very shocked by the tone of your negative review, We are a 5 minute drive from the town of Shaftesbury and 1 mile from our village which is a lovely 20 minute walk. Guests enjoy the location as we are a good touring base and a very accessible location. Wondering if you are confusing our property location with somewhere else! With regards to other points, you did mention the rubber seal on the door to my husband who immediately slotted it back in for you. It had simply come loose. We are always here to fix any issues if asked.``We cannot smell a 'stinking sink' and we would have rectified immediately if we had. The kitchen is very new (as can be seen by pictures) and extremely well stocked. If you did not like the tea towels, you were more than welcome to ask for some more. Not sure what is rotten? The property is clean and was only built 5 years ago Sorry you found it generally aggravating! Think you may be talking about a different property somewhere else. The property is on the outside of our village of Semley and is 300 yards from the main road!!!!!??! Property Owner

  • "The cottage was well decorated and clean, but a few issues for us was the bed ..."

The cottage was well decorated and clean, but a few issues for us was the bed was very firm, we needed to put the duvet on the mattress to sleep, none of the chairs were comfortable, and you had to keep stepping up and down to move from the kitchen to the lounge to the bedroom no good for older people, more for a younger couple, saying that a nice place, quiet and good for walkes

We are glad your enjoyed your stay with us. The cottage has one step going from the kitchen to the living room and another step out of the living room into the bedroom and bathroom. This is in the description of the property as we like guests to know exactly what they are booking. There is one sofa in the living room which is 3 years old and is in good working order. We have never had any complaints about it before so I am sorry you did not find it comfortable. Other than that, there is only a wide leather armchair in the corner of the room which was new 2 years ago. Beds are very personal. Some people like soft beds and others like hard so I am sorry the bed was not to your personal liking. Again, I have had no comments before about the bed and we have checked it to ensure that it is in good condition. Property Owner

  • "Great cottage!"

Perfect size for 2 people and a large dog. We had a lovely stay here. The owners are very friendly and we were greeted with freshly laid eggs! There’s a large field to walk and exercise your dog in i which was very useful as our dog hurt his paws on a walk the very first day so couldn’t walk far. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

  • "Half of the wardrobe, the drawers, cannot be used as the door has come off of its runner and does not open fully to enable the drawers to be used."

The eggs that were left were a nice thought. The cottage was comfortable, there were places to sit out, and the surrounding area is lovely. Did not see anyone for the whole of our stay, which is fine, but maybe a knock on the door to see if all OK?

  • "The accommodation has not followed strict cleaning guidelines during COVID-19."

Some of the utensils and equipment were still dirty so we had to wash a lot The furniture was not moved to clean behind the sofa as we found old sweet bags. Photos taken. This concerned us just how clean was the cottage which made us uneasy. None of the internal doors actually shut. The mechanism on the bathroom was loose and if there had been a deep clean surely they would’ve noticed and fixed. Again made us question the cleaning. The bedroom door didn’t click shut either. I did message the owner on the sat am but no action taken. Shame there was no hair dryer in the property. We were told to ensure all dogs toilet was bagged which we did but others staying there may not have decided to follow this rule which was not pleasant. Nicest touch was eggs they left for us. Disappointed to have paid £307 and to have had the above.

  • "We were the first couple to actually holiday this season so would have expected everything to be perfect."

The TV did not work and was stuck on “Dave”. A text to Annabel resulted in a quick response but without any success. A new remote was waiting for us when we returned next day. The kitchen utensils were lacking a few items particularly because the coronavirus resulted in more home cooking. We asked for a meat dish and the next day there were two large aluminium roasters left by Annabel. One of the bedside lights did not work and the handle on the bathroom door was loose. We did not raise these as an issue but left a note along with a new meat dish. We found 3 grasshoppers in the accommodation including one in the wardrobe. Also, we had to deal with a number of spiders. Please be aware that where ever you move in the accommodation there is steps to encounter, which have steep risers. They were a little difficult for us but for the agile they will not be a problem. Despite the above we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the location made it easy to visit the many attractions in Dorset.

Maybe a hook some where to put your coats would be appreciated. The layout of the cottages were very nice. The bottle of sparkling wine was a very nice touch.

There was hardly any cleaning materials or equipment just one dirty dish cloth and one dirty flannel .There was no broom or mop just a dust pan and brush - The sauce pans were a bit worse for wear and one was dirty .The was the minimum of cutlery and china - just two mugs - 2 large plates 3 small plates - 3 soup bowls bowls - which made preparing food - difficult . no wooden spoon - no hand whisk. t was a great kitchen loads of cupboards - basically the cupboards were 'Bare!' - except for drinking glasses - there were lots of them !
