  • "Visited with my 2 friends to celebrate my 50th."

The property was lovely inside and out. Apart from what can only be described as a damp smell in one of the twin bedrooms . The location on site and hot tub were both bonuses. We Will definitely return and have already shared the property with friends and family.

thank you so much for your lovely review, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay . I have booked for all carpets and underlay to be replaced on 12th October so everything will be brand new . I look forward to seeing you again soon. Property Owner

  • "This is an honest review of our stay: The lodge is lovely, overlooking onto the small lake, although lodges are quite close together on the lakeside so lack privacy."

Beds were comfortable. Kitchen was nice and big with useable space, plenty of crockery, utensils etc but only 5 mugs. I recommend plastic glasses be provided for outside drinking (I took my own) Living area nice, comfortable and spacious. Parking for 2 cars. Outdoor sitting area. Had to walk up to the lodge to collect keys then back down to open barrier to allow us to enter. Only one key and fob supplied, we had two cars so asked for an additional fob the following day and this was refused bluntly by the manager at reception (no explanation as to why) so this prevented us from asking anything again. Note - the restaurant is only open Wed-Sun (so check website for accurate information). Spiders! There were cobwebs and spiders inside the living area and on the outside of lodge above external doors/windows (we saw other lodges being cleaned with a brush to get rid of them). The veranda didn’t look like it had been swept so one of our party swept it and brushed the cobwebs from the glass around the veranda inside and outside as the glass was dirty. Could I recommend you put an external light near steps as two of us tripped going up and down. Hot tub is not very private, it also didn’t have a handle to open/close the lid so unfortunately it was only used three times in as it was too heavy/awkward (everywhere we’ve been it’s used at least one a day). Hot tub hours 10:00-22:00 I would have an expected earlier start like 08:00. The hot tub was not maintained once while we were there for chlorine/safety levels (everywhere else we’ve stayed it’s checked daily). TV remotes had batteries missing and in one bedroom the back of remote and one battery was found at the back of lower shelf in cabinet - obviously lack of attention to detail). Toilet paper was found under a bed (was there when we got there as my dog found it). Unfortunately because lack of external cleanliness (lack of attention to detail) non maintenance of hot tub, no external lighting and lack of privacy we won’t be returning to this lodge.

  • "Lovely place, accommodation was as described however all the carpets were soaked through on our arrival and the smell of dog urine was horrendous."

The carpets had obviously been cleaned before we arrived but hadn’t dried out at all. Having all the doors and windows open made it bearable however every morning it hit us and was so strong. The lodge was equipped with everything you need and the beds were extremely comfortable. It was just a shame about the carpets and the odour. The site is a lovely place and the hot tub was fabulous.

Thanks for your feedback Nicola, I'm glad you found the lodge and hot tub enjoyable , it is a lovely place. I did check with the cleaners over the carpets being wet and smelling , they did say the previous client had left the patio doors open and had wet the carpet by the decking but said they didn't notice any smell so I can only apologise if there was any odour. Even so I asked them to make sure they did an extra thorough clean and the next client did say the lodge smelt very nice. Property Owner

  • "The lodge was beautiful, very clean, tidy and cozy, only thing that weren’t clean was the decking but it’d been windy so can expect that."

Hot tub amazing and was enjoyed by all. We were promised WiFi and to be honest we wouldn’t of booked the property if we knew we didn’t have it as me and my husband work from our computer's and had to buy extra data, we also had two teenagers with us who couldn’t use their phones when in the lodge, as I weren’t provided with a direct number for the owners I tried to get in touch with Sykes cottages but had no reply, if the property had WiFi we would stay again but as is with no WiFi we wouldn’t and I think you should update your advertisement on your website as it’s false advertising and very misleading to future customers.

Hi Stacey, thank you for your review and we always welcome any feedback. I'm sorry you had issues with contacting sykes. In response to the WiFi, the lodge is connected to WiFi. I have checked with sykes and they have told me that my telephone number and pass code for keysafe is sent with all confirmation prior to clients arriving at the lodge, I wonder whether you have missed it In the email ? I'm glad you enjoyed the lodge as much as we do and hope to see you again in the future. Property Owner
