A place that’s well worth visiting for the day and situated just a 30-minute drive from South Lakes Leisure Village is Bowness. Found on the banks of Lake Windermere, this bustling town is one of the most popular tourist hotspots in the region and calls itself home to tonnes of great restaurants, pubs, bars and independent shops.
Whilst here, we’d highly recommend taking a walk down to the jetty to jump on a Windermere Lake Cruise of England’s largest body of water!
Alternatively, if you’re happy to travel a bit further, then the town of Ambleside is also well worth the visit. Situated on Windermere’s northern shores and just short of an hour’s drive from South Lakes Caravan Park, it's a place that’s also known for drawing in thousands of tourists during the summer months.
During your visit, we’d recommend going for a wander around the town centre past historic landmarks like The Bridge House before stopping off at one of the many cosy pubs that can be found here.
