"This was the perfect place to stay for visiting various places along Hadrian's Wall as everything was within easy reach."
The cottage was very comfortable and hosts Colin and Linda were most welcoming, providing lots of useful information about the area. There are plenty of things to enjoy in this lovely part of Northumberland and a return visit to the cottage is planned for next year.

The owners Colin and Lillian were so helpful, hospitable and genuinely lovely people. The holiday home is tastefully done with everything you need. The garden area was a sun trap with sun all day. Lovely walking area.

The cottage itself is lovely. Everything was spotlessly clean. Well equipped kitchen. Although we only cooked once. There are so many lovely places to eat around that area. All in all a lovely place to stay.

Ideal for those with a busy lifestyle wanting to get away from everything and get some peace and quiet. Cottage was well furnished and really comfortable.

You will need a car as it is 2-1/2 miles to the village. Although the cottage is very remote it was a little disappointing not to have great views from the cottage windows because on one side there is a pretty enclosed courtyard and on the other a neighbours wooden building. However a short walk outside and you can see all the country you need!

Outside it looked a bit neglected, lawn needed cutting and general weeding, however hanging baskets were put up on our last day. The microwave had instructions but it seemed to be very complicated compared to ours and we couldn't use it as it had so many buttons and all I wanted to do was reheat something! Sounds sad, but mine at home you just press one button for what you want to do. Also the tin opener wasn't working properly so had to dig out tin of meat! It was a bit confusing seeing a payment meter for the electric and then a relief to see the electric was included in the rental. Also the fact that the immersion heater needed to be switched on to activate the water heater under the sink wasn't too obvious. Perhaps it could be mentioned that quilted loo rolls are not to be used as we found out on arrival - we'd taken some but some correct ones were provided but we had to replace them when used and had to ask in the shops what was suitable for use with a septic tank. This was on the helpful information sheets, but not on the website information. Other than those little niggles, it was a lovely place to stay and pleasantly furnished, peaceful and everything was provided and well thought about. We'd stay there again if we were in that area.

The accommodation was recently very well refurbished, very well appointed to be clean and comfortable. It worked very well for me. Some small additions e.g. Paper kitchen towel, soap in the bathroom and kitchen foil/cling film would have guided the lily, but I was very happy with the experience as a whole.

We were only a bit disappointed by the view from the cottage : from one window we looked on the rubbish of the next door neigbhour and at the other side (enclosed garden) we looked at a high fence/palisade (separation from the nearby B&B hotel), which gave a bit the impression we were in a prison camp ... No warm welcome, we did not even see someone asking if we needed anything after the first week. But the location a few kilometers from Hadrian's wall was really perfect.

Also the sign showing where the cottage is is partly hidden by trees. When you go down the road to the cottage, there is no notice on the gate so you take pot luck which lane you go down. The hot water from the taps was very limited. Looking out the back of the cottage, it did look like a building site. They did actually put some gravel down while we were there.

Haydon Bridge 2.25 miles. Three charming cottages in a delightful rural location set above the village of Haydon Bridge, 2 miles south from Hadrian’s Wall. These three Hadrian’s Wall cottages are located in peaceful surroundings, just a quarter of a mile from the southern tip of the Northumberland National Park. These lovely Hadrian’s Wall cottages offer a clean and comfortable retreat to unwind in after a long day exploring the delights of this historical area. Situated around a large courtyard, each of these Hadrian’s Wall cottages have outdoor seating and use of the large lawned area. Hexham 8 miles; Haltwhistle 8 miles.
The attractive village of Haydon Bridge is situated between the market town of Hexham and Haltwhistle, close to the A69, on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, and only a short drive away from the magnificent remains of the Roman Forts on Hadrians Wall, a World Heritage Site. There are some delightful walks in the area, but perhaps the loveliest are at Allen Banks - 194 acres of woodland and riverside paths just 3 miles from Haydon Bridge. The picturesque village of Haydon Bridge dates back to the 14th Century and is situated on both banks of the South Tyne river with an ancient pedestrian bridge over. Amenities in the village include a railway station, a variety of shops, pubs, a local tourist information centre, churches and riverside walks. Haydon Bridge is a great base for exploring Northumbria!
